right now, the current matrix room and gitter rooms aren't bridged anymore
forgive me if this is obvious
but I don't want to migrate the existing matrix community to this new room
It's only possible to bridge Gitter to a single Matrix room. We can put a tombstone in the old rooms to move people over to the new one
i didn't realize the old room wouldn't be bridged anymore... apologies, but if there's no other way, can we revert the changes?

if moving the existing matrix users over is the only solution, I'll need to have a discussion with my team first, and it's nighttime in europe

All good. As an alternative, we can revert to the old rooms and you could setup your own Telegram bridge in the room which doesn't require admin privileges
Now that I know just enough about bridges to break things, I'll have to look into this option (and others) more deeply 😅

that's what I was looking into before, yes...
The end result that I'm hoping for is to have rooms which can be accessed from {Matrix/Gitter/Telegram} and the UX is smooth
like right now, it's not obvious who's in Gitter and who's in Matrix
it's just one big room
and one bridge I got working made every message from/to Telegram look like it was quoted and sent by a bot

my experience with matrix/gitter/telegram is just as admin and user, never got into the code or hosted
now that the rooms are working and it's EOD here, I'm gunna sign off... appreciate the help 💚
I think I really want is a double puppeted bridge: https://matrix.org/docs/guides/types-of-bridging#double-puppeted-bridge
but this also seems hard 😅

Double puppeting would be immensely helped by oauth style permissions in Matrix
I've always loathed to work on the feature as it means giving up your access token with full rights to the bridge.
Fine if it's your own bridge, less fine if it's a public one
AFAIK our matrix room is fully managed by the gitter-badger... is that not the same thing?

I'm still thinking about what make most sense for us and our community... We'd like to expand via more bridges in the future for sure
Hi, we changed the logo of a gitter room and it does not seem to be updated on the matrix side. As gitter-badger is the only admin on the matrix side, there is no way to change the logo manually either. Do you know if it's possible to update a logo in this case?

Hi - I updated my github display name recently, and on gitter.im it shows the updated name but in the matrix version it still shows "coolreader18 (Old Name)" - is there anyway to refresh that or something?

I don't know if the libera.chat bridge allows for custom plumbs. If it does, you could have the Gitter and libera.chat bridges point to that matrix.org room.

I think that from an IRC point of view, plumbing or not is just a technical detail that amounts to the same thing
