Not sure how to use Glitter... first time- but I am happy to potentially assist with testing on issue #3 - I have a large number of isolates and having time-lapse/camera of biofilm formation and loss of an indicator on-plate would be amazing.
I am a postdoc with full access to ≈120 quick growing isolates, and a full featured microbio lab space.

Welcome @bstamps ! I think you using Gitter right. It is basically a chat system which is connected to a GitHub repository.
Thanks for joining! Actually I was not sure for a long time if this project is something people need. So I am really happy to get some feedback and I am sure we will need your help to test the hardware with some strains!

@vektorious
I think we can develop a first single-plate-imaging setup during Mozilla's Global Sprint and then I can send it to you for testing. May I ask you where you are (roughly) located?
bstamps
@bstamps
Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado, USA .
Alexander Kutschera
@vektorious
Well thats not super close but I guess this doesn't matter for the parcel service.

@bstamps
ha! Let me know if I can be useful. The idea sounds compelling, and potentially useful for biodegradation assays so I am on board.
Alexander Kutschera
@vektorious
Sure! You can spread the idea :smile: If you yourself are not too much into coding (python) you maybe know somebody else who might be!
For now I am trying to get a first version with a single-plate setup but in my previous tests I always imaged multiple agar plates at once. This could enable high-throughput in a later stage

Hello, just saw your post in the GOSH forum - this has some useful connections with some of the work WaterScope has been doing. I'll see if I can get Alex (who's been developing that side of things with inpur from me) to get in touch.
Also, I made a very basic inspection microscope that might have some useful optomechanical bits you can re-use. If you can post a link to the paper that does the dark-field imaging, I'd happily have a look at my collection of OpenSCAD files and see if I can help design something printable.

Hey @rwb27, oh great! I also thought about combining it with the waterscope. I was also in contact with Tobey some time ago and I have his scanning stage which would be suitable for combining it with the microscope.

This is the link to the publication: http://chemotaxis.biology.utah.edu/Parkinson_Lab/publications/PDFs/Parkinson,%202007b.pdf

I just have to design a lid with a camera slot for the lighting chamber and then it is good to go.
But what kind of libraries are you using for motion detection?
Btw. I design in autodesk and I would happily share the autodesk project with you
Alexander Kutschera
@vektorious
And your inspection microscope would be great for doing plant crosses with Arabidopsis :smile:

@2alin
Hi, there!! I introduce myself, I'm adilson I studied mathematics and I love programming. I learned python some years ago, haven't coded there for a year or so because I was into arduino and right now into web development (I love JS). I haven't studied about computer vision at the time, but I'm very excited and motivated about this project. So I'll use the next five days to catch as much as I can and help with issue #4
Alexander Kutschera
@vektorious
Perfect! Welcome to the team! There is a special channel which we can use during the Sprint. I try to be available there all the time if I am not sleeping :smile:
I thought about writing a script scaffold so all the different parts can be added to it. Or should we focus on having one main script and then calling functions from others? what do you think?
Adilson Sandoval
@2alin
Thank you! Ahmm I can't decide what is best right now becausw I haven't checked how
Adilson Sandoval
@2alin
To approach the problem yet. But I adjust to any guidelines you find best. Right now I'm in bed, but starting tomorrow I'll start analysing the project and studying openCV. And yup, I'll write any questions or opinions I'll have in the other chat room. BTW, sorry for the broken message, I wrote from my phone and wasn't able to edit or delete it.

No worries! Take your time! There is no pressure ;)

Hey, I just heard about this project from the global sprint page, do I have to register for the global sprint to start contributing or can I just pick up issues and submit PRs?
Alexander Kutschera
@vektorious
Hey @CalmDownKarm ! Great
to see you here!
First of all: Welcome!
Karmanya Aggarwal
@CalmDownKarm
hi
Alexander Kutschera
@vektorious
If you want to participate in the Global sprint you should register as a Virtual Participant because then you will receive more information during the Sprint
But you don't have to register if you want to join the project!
There will be a lot to do even after the sprint :smile: The aim of the sprint is to develop a first working version of both, the hardware and the software.
Karmanya Aggarwal
@CalmDownKarm
Got it. I don't have the hardware available, but I'm decently familiar with python so software wise should be able to pitch in
Alexander Kutschera
@vektorious
Great! We do have a channel for the global sprint where we are already discussing openCV and the code in general.
Karmanya Aggarwal
@CalmDownKarm
got it, thanks

Hey @CalmDownKarm are you still working on the flask app and also plotting? Could you create a PR with what you already have?
