@ThorHammerz what are you up to
ThorHammerz
@ThorHammerz
Mar 05 2015 03:17
looking through the wind.js atm
Graeme Yeates
@megawac
Mar 05 2015 03:17
k I'm going to set up the basic wind simulation
ThorHammerz
@ThorHammerz
Mar 05 2015 03:19
We will probably need to set up a extra data structure or 2 to store the emission origin points, to reference when we decide whether to display a particular wind vector as carrying an emission source.
Graeme Yeates
@megawac
Mar 05 2015 03:19
that datas already available
but yeah we'd need to adapt windy.js
if you wanted to do something like that
ThorHammerz
@ThorHammerz
Mar 05 2015 03:20
I meant as something like a list of tuples or something similar
Graeme Yeates
@megawac
Mar 05 2015 03:20
for what
ThorHammerz
@ThorHammerz
Mar 05 2015 03:23
I was thinking of modifying one to the functions (maybe one of the set-color or set-projection of vector one? still trawling through the code, so not sure just yet...) to run an additional check of "are we passing by a source of emission", and then in a (new) attribute/property of the wind object set "true" for "we have passed an origin + type of emission", and have one of the existing functions incorporate an additional check for whether that attribute returns true before drawing on map
something along those lines, at least, since I'm not sure if we want to show the winds of the particles that have not yet encountered emissions

So, where (which cafe I guess...?) and roughly when are we meeting today?
Graeme Yeates
@megawac
Mar 05 2015 15:47
im at huether right now
we can go to another one if you want I just like the breakfast deals
ThorHammerz
@ThorHammerz
Mar 05 2015 16:03
Won't be able to meet until ~2pm-ish, will you still be at huether then?

@ThorHammerz
Mar 05 2015 16:40
What is the difference between "var x = function(params)" and "function x (params)"...?
Graeme Yeates
@megawac
Mar 05 2015 16:41
nothing to be concerned about just style
ThorHammerz
@ThorHammerz
Mar 05 2015 16:41
ok
so they are equivalent
?
Graeme Yeates
@megawac
Mar 05 2015 16:42
practically
ThorHammerz
@ThorHammerz
Mar 05 2015 16:45
for nested functions in javascript (i.e. i have var x, within that a function called y, and within y a function called z), i'd call it with something like x.y(param).z(param)?
Graeme Yeates
@megawac
Mar 05 2015 16:46
probably not
z won't be visible in that scope
unless you return {z: z} or smt
which would be a bad pattern
ThorHammerz
@ThorHammerz
Mar 05 2015 16:55
ok, so nested functions are essentially only visible inside the var they are defined in
Graeme Yeates
@megawac
Mar 05 2015 16:55
variables are always scoped to the wrapping function
ThorHammerz
@ThorHammerz
Mar 05 2015 17:13
quick question, what type of struct is this called in js?
var mapBounds = {
south: deg2rad(extent[0][1]),
north: deg2rad(extent[1][1]),
east: deg2rad(extent[1][0]),
west: deg2rad(extent[0][0]),
width: width,
height: height
};
Graeme Yeates
@megawac
Mar 05 2015 17:14
dict
or object however you want to call it/hash
