al-Quaknaa
@al-Quaknaa
@Connoropolous a quick question: I'd like to try implementing the PT Sans font where it makes sense like we discussed, but I'm not sure now if you mind using a webfont or not. Is it OK if the font we'd end up using was loaded from Google Fonts (for example)?
Connor Turland
@Connoropolous
Yeah that's alright... although we currently have two separate methods along with that.... typekit https://github.com/metamaps/metamaps_gen002/blob/master/app/views/layouts/application.html.erb#L18
which we use font-face to include
al-Quaknaa
@al-Quaknaa
Thanks. I'll look into it.

@poietic with the gitter integration here, are all the options turned on? Maybe send a screenshot? It seems maybe the issues option isn't turned on? (Which would be nice)
poietic
@poietic
i see them all on the right of screen, including new issues..

Ah! The one I thought was missing was further up! Sorry... Actually, this makes this a really nice space to see a lot for what is going on in MM in a moe public way... I'm liking it... How about you? Any further thoughts on a migrations from Hipchat to either Gitter or slack? (Refering to the team consideration now, not our entire community and the public chatroom loomio discussion), Also, might be cool to tick off Wiki, watch, fork too... Useful type community info

Cool! Gitter now supports pasting Clipboard images... I think when I tried that like a month ago it wasn't a feature
I also really like the "Read by" feature to see who has seen what when you hover over the checkmark on each message

USO!!!

@Bortseb
so, you are right... there is this strange bug where the empty synapse filter option randomly disappears from the list... or isn't there to begin with... when this is the case, thats when things get squirrely
Raymon Johnstone
@Tadasu85
Yea and it seems to me it can happen even within population that is the main reason I would like to start in the erb file
I can have it append something to all synapses and it does actually resolve the issue
of course this is not optimal
Robert Best
@Bortseb
another strange bug that is complicating this one, is that the first new blank synapse created on a map is saved with a blank blob, but all new blank synapses from then on our are just normal looking blank synapses.... and the "blob" blank synapses act differently based on filtering than the normal ones
see screenshot
blob
it seems to treat the normal vs blog blanks differntly because TWO blank icons then show up in the filter list... when really, there should only ever be one
Raymon Johnstone
@Tadasu85
click off that synapse that does resolve i believe.
oh wierd
eh gawd
Robert Best
@Bortseb
nah, ive realoaded my map many times... the blog and normal blanks are persisting as they were
Raymon Johnstone
@Tadasu85
uhm can you try and figure out what steps you took specifically to make this happen because I dont have this issue.
Robert Best
@Bortseb

its pretty much what I said... all new blanks synapses created after the map first loads get a blog, and additional ones from there on get none...

I am also still getting the context menu pop up all the time for things like topic creation and synapse creation

Raymon Johnstone
@Tadasu85
oh ok i got that to duplicate, that is a seperate issue tho
one thing at a time
Robert Best
@Bortseb
i know, i just mean it complicates this issue, bcause it acts differently, and adds a second blank option to the list
Raymon Johnstone
@Tadasu85
ah ok
Robert Best
@Bortseb
for example, for me, then I click an actual filter for a normal synapse,,, it is only the "blob" blanks that mistakenly get filtered too, the normal blanks synapses aren't affefcted
another thing i notice, involved in all of this, is anytime I add any new synapse, blank or otherwise, the blank options disappear from the filter list
Raymon Johnstone
@Tadasu85
This is going to sound really odd but what is happening is different for me.
alright i think I need to come at this with fresh eyes tomorow
Robert Best
@Bortseb
yea, also... I dont know ruby, so not sure what a lot of this means just from looking at it
Raymon Johnstone
@Tadasu85
alright cool, ttyl bro sleep well

Did the Metamaps community drift off into another Slack silo? Next to this channel, the Google+ Group doesn't seem to be too active anymore, too.

Have you given https://matrix.org / https://vector.im a try?

Connor Turland
@Connoropolous
hey @almereyda , for the last little while we've just been trying to get our sh*t together, after a long time where we all had pretty different focuses last year. for the moment we've been chatting on slack. But I think we'd be pretty keen to switch if a compelling alternative was there. Haven't tried either of the ones you mentioned, have you?
jon r
@almereyda
Yes, Matrix is the protocol layer of a federated message log where Vector is an example application to use such for a chat system. But it aims at being more general.

I see there hasn't been any discussion here for a couple of years, but if anyone is interested in trying out free code Slack replacements, I have been gathering info about options here: https://www.coactivate.org/projects/disintermedia/slacking-off
