In the installation section for the installer on Ubuntu 16.04
user@host:~/$ sudo systemctl start/stop/restart/status metasfresh_server.service -> works (also the other 4 services) but
user@host:~/$ sudo /etc/init.d/metasfresh-webui-api start/stop/restart/status -> does not exist!
Norbert
@metasnw
did you install on ubuntu server 16.04 ?
Harald Sichert
@sichert
No, as mentioned in main thread I installed XUbuntu 16.04.3 (on VirtualBox-VM) because a server has no grafical environment, but XUbuntu has XFCE and I wanted to have all on one place/ one virtual machine. But XUbuntu Desktop should have all features the server has.
Norbert
@metasnw
ok, if you want to install it on a desktop OS I recommend to use docker
as the installer only is tested with ubuntu 16.04 server

as described here: http://metasfresh.com/en/download

Ubuntu Server 16.04 (64 bit)

Harald Sichert
@sichert
Yes I knew. But I wanted to build one Machine with all included (to setup metasfresh together with ADAPTO and Shopware) and that is normally no problem also without docker. But then I have to go the docker way :-(
Harald Sichert
@sichert
Hello! In docker-compose.yml you can't change port to 8080 if the same port is used/recommended for direct access to webapi. Them you should recommend or default then for webapi e.g. 8181 (so did I)

@sichert
@metasnw In http://docs.metasfresh.org/webui_collection/EN/Assign_prices_to_partner.html I can find a description to assign prices to a partner (vendor or customer) but no example for a partnergroup. Is this also possible and how, please?
Norbert
@metasnw
@sichert here you go: metasfresh/metasfresh-documentation#241
Harald Sichert
@sichert
@metasnw ... thx! But does not exactly fullfill my requirements. I need business partner XOR business partner group (last to not beeing forced to do the same assignements for partners all belonging to the same group)
Norbert
@metasnw
please put a sample case

Hi there. Im curious about http://docs.metasfresh.org/appdictionary_collection/EN/create_window_from_database_view.html this page. What do you guys mean by "Java Client". Is "Application Dictionary Configuration" section somehow outdated? What do you need to use now instead?

Hello, can anyone tell us what is the appropriate hosting company to host Metafresh as a cloud service for customers ? and a use cases for couple of differebt industries ?

@Stephen77336291_twitter

Hi,
I'm evaluating metasfresh among other ERP/CRM to use in our solution instead of writing all customer handling from scratch. The think is, we have our own Database with products, orders, payments and we would like to map/customize metasfresh to work in some way together with this backend. Can you please point me to documentation for custom fields, extra fields and how to modify forms. Also I am interested in how the database layer is implemented and if we can work with those abstractions to fit our own database (and db schema) behind metasfresh.
(worst case, but also somehow acceptable would be to use metasfresh's database "as is" and then do some syncing and transformation into our "main" database

Thank you so much for your help

Stephen

This room is dead?
Norbert
@metasnw
hey @Stephen77336291_twitter
your task is not simple. may I ask why you want to run 2x backends and what do you expect to gain from metasfresh ?
here are some pages around application dictionary customizations:
http://docs.metasfresh.org/pages/appdictionary/index_en
and also there is a handson example in forum:
https://forum.metasfresh.org/t/webui-fenster-konfigurieren-felder-ausblenden/941
Stephen
@Stephen77336291_twitter
Hey @metasnw ,
Thanks for helping!
We already have a Database with customers, orders, products. I would like to integrate that into Metasfresh
One Database would be best
Norbert
@metasnw
you can migrate those
we got importers for customers, products and a REST API to import also orders
Stephen
@Stephen77336291_twitter
Yes, but there is another old system that is depending on those and is expected to continue running. So we would rather "migrate" or transform the Metasfresh Datashema to our DB
Norbert
@metasnw
you can basically change all visual aspects of metasfresh via configuration using the java client
Stephen
@Stephen77336291_twitter
I see
Norbert
@metasnw

Yes, but there is another old system that is depending on those and is expected to continue running. So we would rather "migrate" or transform the Metasfresh Datashema to our DB

ok, got it. then you might want to use metasfresh as backend and have an ETL tool to provide the old schema for the other system

you either could have views on top of the metasfresh data model or copy and transfer the data to the old db
Stephen
@Stephen77336291_twitter
Ohh okay, yes that sound exactly like what we would want to do
So metasfresh is flexible to make something like this easy? We have a few Concepts that I don't know if they exist in Metasfresh like: Subscriptions, CustomerTags, CustomerActions ontop of Taglists
Norbert
@metasnw
metafsresh has subscriptions, tags
not sure what customeractions are. something like storing the communication with the customer ?
Stephen
@Stephen77336291_twitter
okay, that sound cool!!
Yes it is everything that can be executed on a user or a list of users, like Invoice sending, giving Freebees (werbegeschenk), credit entry (gutschrift), and letters (or emails)
we use tags to execute them in bulk
in our internal model, but we would maybe have to map that to some metasfresh compatible model
Norbert
@metasnw
yes, all processes in metasfresh support mass processing
do you see the steps in between documents. e.g. Invoice Disposition
you can run invoicing on thousands of customers and the users still can go on with their work

hello
i m not able to download client file from erp.taqims.com:8080
webui erp.taqims.com is working ok
Julian Bischof
@metas-jb
hi @girishvb
if you're using docker as installation method, you will need to port-bind (ports:) "8282" on container definition for "app" and then use erp.taqims.com:8282
More info here: http://docs.metasfresh.org/installation_collection/EN/How_do_I_use_Java_Client_using_Docker.html and this docker-compose.yml file as an example: https://github.com/metasfresh/metasfresh-docker/blob/master/extras/docker-compose_javaclient.yml
girishvb
@girishvb
Thanks Julian.
Client download problem ressolved.
but still db connection error is there
it says org.adempeire.exception.DBNoconnectionException: @NoDBConnection@: Connection could not be acquired from underlying database
girishvb

client os MSW10

Please also check if postgres-port (5432) of container "db" is also port-bound to the dockerhost (check example above - section "db").
And do not "check connection" when adding the application-server or db-server in your swing client connection setup.
Enter it all manually! When hitting the "check connection" button, the client will automatically request connection-details from the application-server. BUT due to the nature of docker and docker-hostnames the swing-client then just gets "db" since the application-server recognizes the database-container only as "db".

And please note:
a) hostnames entered in the config-menu of the swing client shall not have any dots (so you might want to add a CNAME or edit your local hosts file)
b) connection via swing client is VERY dependent on latency and if your server is not running inhouse or with latency < 1ms, I'd highly advise against using the swing client in production. That's what the webui is there for :)
