Cool cool. I'm in Colorado, up in the mountains. Working towards becoming a JavaScript Engineer.

Nice. Yeah, I don't really consider myself a software engineer. I'm slowly moving from php (laravel) to full-stack js

Nov 15 2014 18:04
Yup
Ember seems nice, but I already understand much more of Angular
I just need more practical experience really

Just having a look at that now for the first time, seems pretty cool. How do you like it?

Awesome! I'm working on a personal project using it, been great so far.
I don't really have any backend chops. So seeing it all in front of my eyes, easily, has really helped me figure out wtf is going on back there.

The way they setup node is super simple too. This is really my first complete go at nodes and tbh I think its way better than PHP

Meteor is completely different alright
It's kinda like Firebase
And reactive, so when data changes the DOM auto updates based on your bindings and it's all realtime, so if one client changes the data, everyone gets it via Sock.js for free.
Same API on the server & client for the most part.
But more difficult to scale compared to MEAN.

What are the advantages compared to MEAN?

Just so everyone knows don’t use a vacuum and space heater at the same time. lesson learned
Meteor has a HUGE investment behind it
I want to see waht it’s got
hopefully the client side is simple to learn

Very simple example but it's all realtime etc.

@niallobrien
Nov 15 2014 19:23
I'm not overly sure how you'd do a full realtime app with angular Fullstack - you'd have a lot of different emitters etc. it'd get very confusing beyond simple notifications
