Hiya! Would mintty upstream be interested in support for midipix (http://midipix.org/)? We aim to provide a POSIX environment on top of Windows as well, not dissimilar to Cygwin, but using a different approach. Currently our patchset consists of fixing some POSIX conformance issues and separating out Cygwin-specific code into separate files, as well as providing the equivalent functionality files for midipix.

Oh wow, a real midipix developer?
I've had only heard rumors until now.

@Shizmob, does that mean mintty would then compile on Linux as well?
Or is "Cygwin-specific" used only in contrast to other POSIX-on-Windows platforms?

Mostly the latter right now - think of things like Win32 path conversion and whether the different platforms have certain standard C functions

Okay, cool.
Anyway, @mintty is the boss here, so let's probably wait for them to answer.

Moving Windows-specific functionality out of the base code would probably be a far more invasive procedure, and possibly undesirable considering both the amount of changed code and the amount of extra code that would have to be maintained for e.g. a GTK+ port.
And for midipix it's not really relevant :)

Yeah, I didn't think my question through. :)
