I've got a call in a few minutes, I'll be back in max 1 hr. Sorry for that
patrickpoirier51
@patrickpoirier51
yep it is enabled, so it should start.... unfortunately I dont have a DSM receiver. I just oredred one so I shoud be able to test in a few days.
Bas de Bruijn
@luminize
Thanks for the help!
It's probably something silly
I've got one of these too, would that be something to try out? https://www.spektrumrc.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=SPMAR6600T
patrickpoirier51
@patrickpoirier51
Dont know if it is spitting serial data as the satellite does..
Bas de Bruijn
@luminize
@awright424 would this be similar to what you're using? https://hobbyking.com/en_us/orangerx-r620x-v2-6ch-2-4ghz-dsm2-dsmx-comp-full-range-rx-w-sat-div-ant-f-safe-cppm.html I've got a Spektrum DX6G3
awright424
@awright424
I had one of those on my navio2 based quad I believe, may she rest in pieces.
Bas de Bruijn
@luminize
hihi, not good?
awright424
@awright424
I used that with both a navio2, rpi3 based flight controller, and my bbbmini
Bas de Bruijn
@luminize
right, I'll order one to see if my problems originate in the receiver. Never hurts to have an extra receiver
awright424
@awright424
the issue was my fault I had no failsafe set on the receiver properly
Bas de Bruijn
@luminize
Well, I'm building a flitetest corsair model with the kids to learn and play around with, so I hope it does not crash too quickly.
@awright424 would you recommend another model?
awright424
@awright424
i haven't touched anything other than quadcopters at the moment. I have an old early 90's skylark 40t gas trainer that I need to build. I want to use arducopter on it with the gas motor and fpv. sounds amazing
Bas de Bruijn
@luminize
Sorry for the confusion, i meant the receiver/satelliet from orangerx :smile:
Sounds like a fun project. Ultimately i’d like to build a tricopter, and use Ardupilot for the plane too

Is that something that would be worth doing for me if I plan to mount the pocketpilot directly to a frame? Trying to figure out if vibration dampening is my current issue.
Seth
@silver2row
So, how is it going?
I read through what was described. Are people purchasing new items now or still sticking w/ the other equipment?
Seth
@silver2row
@luminize : Did you get your ideas forumulated on this task? If you need me to test anything on my end, just let me know. I have that OrangeRX receiver too.
Bas de Bruijn
@luminize
@silver2row I'd be very interested to know if you have a working OrangeRX receiver with the BB blue. As long as I can pair it with my Spektrum receiver then I can later verify if the problem is in the receiver/satelllite or the BB blue

@imrj
I totalled my hexa today with BBB....the BBB appeared to crash or kernel panic or something, am still trying to find out...but it had power until it hit the ground (lights visible from onboard 360 cam
and the SD card never came out but stopped recording to the logs abruptly
while still in the air, i lost RC control and it just tumble down, all the electronics are good including the BBB but the frame is toast
but now my trust on BBB is a bit shattered...it had about 40 flites no issues
Seth
@silver2row
@luminize : Hello...I will try to get on it soon. I have not set up the OrangeRX just yet but I will do it if you have about a week to spare. Then, I will get on it.
Vinicius Juvinski
@juvinski
Hi @imrj I have more than 1000 flights and ever had problems with bbbmini. Are your sd card without problem ? What is the last message you have in your log ?
What you have in your Linux message log file ?
Bas de Bruijn
@luminize
@silver2row I’m in no hurry. I appreciate the help. Thx
Seth
@silver2row
@luminize : Okay. I will try to bind some transmitter w/ the OrangeRX soon and add the correct wiring for the RX. Yea boy!
Ivan Riol
@imrj
@juvinski i dont see anything relevant on the kernel logs or any other, but i believe ardupilot exec crashed just because the ardupilot logs ended abruptly but the BBB kernel log file was still putting out normal messages as it fell from the air for few seconds...and again i could see the BBB itself with onboard recorded video the entire time and when it tumbled down the only light on is the blue one....no red flashing light...and thats ardupilot right?

This is an analysis of my log file after being in the air for a little. Do I need to do compass motor calibration? I have never done one.

Ivan Riol
@imrj
@awright424 i always get that compass mag_field too, its never been a prob....you might also want to bring the compass calibration sensitivity to like 800 and recalibrate, that seems to usually fix for me

Hi @imrj I have more than 1000 flights and ever had problems with bbbmini. Are your sd card without problem ? What is the last message you have in your log ?

I dont think this is the problem with my crash, but my BBB isnt holding the date/time correctly...

I have set it and when reboot it defaults back to May, when I set it up first...I tried the hardware clock set too but didnt matter...am trying to install NTP now from apt and is erroring out
awright424
@awright424
any reason why i would get that barometer is unable to be initialized using bbbmini v1.4 with 3.6.10 dev?
awright424
@awright424
has the hardware definition changed? I actually purchasd another ms5611 just to make sure that wasn't the issue
patrickpoirier51
@patrickpoirier51
@awright424 we defaulted the baro to BMP280 as the V2 prototype was using it
just change it
awright424
@awright424
@patrickpoirier51 assuming the bmp280 cant drop in on the board can it?
oh and this is for the bbbmini not the pocketpilot
wanted to see how well my bbbmini could fit on a 210 frame I have. If not, I wait for more pocket beagles
patrickpoirier51
@patrickpoirier51
oups sorry... I was thinking of your pocket
Ivan Riol
@imrj
@patrickpoirier51 Patrick, any ideas on this --> "I dont think this is the problem with my crash, but my BBB isnt holding the date/time correctly...

patrickpoirier51
@patrickpoirier51
@imrj Do you have a GPS ? , You can sync time with it, othewise you need a realtime clock (I never experimented with it, but should be easy)
