while still in the air, i lost RC control and it just tumble down, all the electronics are good including the BBB but the frame is toast
but now my trust on BBB is a bit shattered...it had about 40 flites no issues

@juvinski i dont see anything relevant on the kernel logs or any other, but i believe ardupilot exec crashed just because the ardupilot logs ended abruptly but the BBB kernel log file was still putting out normal messages as it fell from the air for few seconds...and again i could see the BBB itself with onboard recorded video the entire time and when it tumbled down the only light on is the blue one....no red flashing light...and thats ardupilot right?

This is an analysis of my log file after being in the air for a little. Do I need to do compass motor calibration? I have never done one.

@awright424 i always get that compass mag_field too, its never been a prob....you might also want to bring the compass calibration sensitivity to like 800 and recalibrate, that seems to usually fix for me

I dont think this is the problem with my crash, but my BBB isnt holding the date/time correctly...

I have set it and when reboot it defaults back to May, when I set it up first...I tried the hardware clock set too but didnt matter...am trying to install NTP now from apt and is erroring out

@imrj Do you have a GPS ? , You can sync time with it, othewise you need a realtime clock (I never experimented with it, but should be easy)

Not sure why every log I pull from this pocketpilot seems to be corrupt. I still haven't been able to deduce if the issue is related to the pocketpilot or hardware. I should have another flight controller to use on my 130mm quad tomorrow hopefully to test things and see if there is a problem with the hardware I am using or not. It just doesnt make sense that multiple different boards all exhibit the same behavior. The quad will fly fine initially then it starts pulling backwards. I should have another quadcopter using a 4 in 1 esc that I will be able to test with soon as well

I experienced the corruption as well, I guess it is lacking bandwidth, I reduced log details and made sure I used a fast SD

I even added some copper emi shielding tape under the pocketpilot board

I do fly with one on a PocketPilot build with no probem ( it is sitting about 3 cm above esc)

starting to wonder if its bad hardware
initially I had the imu and barometer under the pocketpilot. I thought that was the issue so I made this guy which is a more compact. you can see where the copper tape is under the board. I made sure to place electric tape underneath first then the copper tape ontop

i wait on parts. If all goes well I design a better board that meets my needs. now if only gentoo or archlinux was able to run with rt kernel and universal cape overlay. Would have a faster booting quad. it still takes almost 2 minutes for me to be ready to fly from plugging a battery in

The linux log file (dmesg or syslogd) always register if a program crashes or you can enable the core file generation. You have used a compiled by yourself version, cross compiled vresion or package distribution?

i just went cheaper and got the bbmini for $35.....looks like i can pass all the bells and whistles on this AI one too

I obviously want to run arducopter on it and have it control the quad itself. I keep seeing people use them paired with pixhawks etc
auvidea also has a board with a mpu9250 on it for the nano even though its pretty expensive
