@imrj

Hi @imrj I have more than 1000 flights and ever had problems with bbbmini. Are your sd card without problem ? What is the last message you have in your log ?

I dont think this is the problem with my crash, but my BBB isnt holding the date/time correctly...

I have set it and when reboot it defaults back to May, when I set it up first...I tried the hardware clock set too but didnt matter...am trying to install NTP now from apt and is erroring out

@awright424
any reason why i would get that barometer is unable to be initialized using bbbmini v1.4 with 3.6.10 dev?
awright424
@awright424
has the hardware definition changed? I actually purchasd another ms5611 just to make sure that wasn't the issue
patrickpoirier51
@patrickpoirier51
@awright424 we defaulted the baro to BMP280 as the V2 prototype was using it
just change it
awright424
@awright424
@patrickpoirier51 assuming the bmp280 cant drop in on the board can it?
oh and this is for the bbbmini not the pocketpilot
wanted to see how well my bbbmini could fit on a 210 frame I have. If not, I wait for more pocket beagles
patrickpoirier51
@patrickpoirier51
oups sorry... I was thinking of your pocket

@patrickpoirier51 Patrick, any ideas on this --> "I dont think this is the problem with my crash, but my BBB isnt holding the date/time correctly...

@patrickpoirier51
@imrj Do you have a GPS ? , You can sync time with it, othewise you need a realtime clock (I never experimented with it, but should be easy)

@awright424
Not sure why every log I pull from this pocketpilot seems to be corrupt. I still haven't been able to deduce if the issue is related to the pocketpilot or hardware. I should have another flight controller to use on my 130mm quad tomorrow hopefully to test things and see if there is a problem with the hardware I am using or not. It just doesnt make sense that multiple different boards all exhibit the same behavior. The quad will fly fine initially then it starts pulling backwards. I should have another quadcopter using a 4 in 1 esc that I will be able to test with soon as well
patrickpoirier51
@patrickpoirier51
I experienced the corruption as well, I guess it is lacking bandwidth, I reduced log details and made sure I used a fast SD
awright424
@awright424
do you think the 4 in 1 esc is a problem?
I even added some copper emi shielding tape under the pocketpilot board
patrickpoirier51
@patrickpoirier51
I do fly with one on a PocketPilot build with no probem ( it is sitting about 3 cm above esc)
awright424
@awright424
starting to wonder if its bad hardware
initially I had the imu and barometer under the pocketpilot. I thought that was the issue so I made this guy which is a more compact. you can see where the copper tape is under the board. I made sure to place electric tape underneath first then the copper tape ontop

@patrickpoirier51
Your setup is pretty clean, my prototype is just a big sandwich of noise making devices

i wait on parts. If all goes well I design a better board that meets my needs. now if only gentoo or archlinux was able to run with rt kernel and universal cape overlay. Would have a faster booting quad. it still takes almost 2 minutes for me to be ready to fly from plugging a battery in

Hi @imrj , as @patrickpoirier51 said the time is adjusted by gps or rc clock - I tried some time ago but I have problems with more than 2 i2c devices on th i2c port. The linux log file (dmesg or syslogd) always register if a program crashes or you can enable the core file generation. You have used a compiled by yourself version, cross compiled vresion or package distribution?
Seth
@silver2row
@luminize : I have not had any time to set up the new config. w/ the OrangeRX. I might have time this weekend. I will let you know either way.

@luminize
silver2row no worries. I’m in no rush.

@patrickpoirier51
now available @125$ US...
Well... more expensive than my NVIDIA NANO or the Google Coral USB Edge TPU ML Accelerator
I'll pass
Ivan Riol
@imrj
i just went cheaper and got the bbmini for $35.....looks like i can pass all the bells and whistles on this AI one too
@patrickpoirier51 yea I have a standard N8M GPS hooked up serially into GPS port...but dam so you saying that the BBB doesnt have an internal RTC?

@juvinski so it must not have its own internal RTC, i guess whats why there is no small battery.....hmm...pixhawk has an RTC with battery....
awright424
@awright424
@patrickpoirier51 I was wondering about how powerful it would be. I want a nano
havent seen much as far as people getting spi to work well or a realtime kernel
awright424
@awright424
I obviously want to run arducopter on it and have it control the quad itself. I keep seeing people use them paired with pixhawks etc
auvidea also has a board with a mpu9250 on it for the nano even though its pretty expensive
even more tempted to buy it now.
but I need a couple pocketbeagles so may go buy from arrow
I will have the parts to build a new quad today and test to see if it was indeed a bad motor esc combos causing my problems

i personally like my ODROID-XU4.....is pretty fast https://www.amazon.com/ODROID-XU4-Single-Board-Computer-Gigabit/dp/B0163GEA64/

@awright424
I have an xu4 i was hoping that would have seen more use in the hobby space
I really wanted a flight controller based on it.
Ivan Riol
@imrj
i know....its a shame cant run any flight stack on it
yup
awright424
@awright424
i have a feeling this nano may end up like my odroid xu4
