PILOT_STEER_TYPE: Pilot input steering type
Set this to 1 for skid steering input rovers (tank track style in RC controller). When enabled, servo1 is used for the left track control, servo3 is used for right track control

Values
Value Meaning
0 Default
1 Two Paddles Input
2 Direction reversed when backing up
3 Direction unchanged when backing up

I had to go now

Hello everyone.
I'm preparing for my maiden flight, and I've seen something really strange. Sometimes, my right elevon servo stops at the position he is. No matter what I do, he will not move and will wait for 20-30 seconds. I checked the connections and everything is ok, I'm thinking it may coming from Ardupilot. Does anyone have an idea?
Vinicius Juvinski
@juvinski
loot at servos tab on mission planner to check if ardupilot is demanding servo
what fligh mode ?
if has gps, the gps is 3d fix ?
ho many sats you got ?

Are any other servos having similar problems?
If you swap the malfunctioning servo onto another channel, does the problem follow the servo or stay with the channel?
Do you have a logic analyzer to inspect the servo signal directly?

@Etyopppp_twitter
It happened one time on manual while doing FPV range test on ground, and one other time on FBWA when I was just having fun keeping the wing in the wind with my hand so it corrected itself in the wind.
I'm not sure if GPS was fixed as I didn't have my computer with me to connect telemetry.
My FPV feed tells I was having 11 sats
It went up and up and up
Beginning at 10, and going to 15 at moments
There's no other servos having similar problems, I'll try to swap the servo onto another channel tomorrow
And unfortunately I can't inspect the servo signal
I'm also sad concerning my OSD module, I ordered a RadioLink OSD which appears to be softlocked by RadioLink, which unables me from using MinimOSD-Extra, so I should use their chinese software to configure the OSD. I needed to redesign the whole charsets myself because the ones they included in their MinimOSD copy software included a lot of chinese letters that I needed to decrypt with the FPV feed (that was a tuff task)
I'm going to bed, good night!
Vinicius Juvinski
@juvinski
hum, real bad this osd thing :(
I had on a fx61 phantom some cheap chinese servos, and I had a sort of freeze
I was commanding the servos movement and simply goes up and freeze there
after that I changed for better servos
I changed from this

I'm currently using the racerstar you sent :)
oh and also my Runcam Swift 2 writes the precise battery voltage on the video, which means I have now a precise way to know when I should stop!
And also, because I can't use MinimOSD-Extra, there is a lot of flickering on the overlay the OSD makes with the telemetry. On MinimOSD-Extra, there is like a VSync feature that fixes this bug, but not on this ** RadioLink software
Vinicius Juvinski
@juvinski
I never had this problem of servo freezing with racestart
Etyop
@Etyopppp_twitter
I think I'm unlucky!
Vinicius Juvinski
@juvinski
have you have more servos ? to try in another outpus do the same function to see if the problem is on the servo or something in ardupilot ?
Etyop
@Etyopppp_twitter
I have 2 more servos, I did some testing today but the problem with the servo didn't occur. I'm planning to do the maiden flight tomorrow, and not knowing if it coming from the servo or the channel or ardupilot kinda worries me
(I did the testing with the same servo)
I think I'm simply going to change the channel output for the right elevon and also change the servo
This should fix the problem, if it wasn't Ardupilot related
Oh, my transmitter is at very low battery since yesterday
Could it be that ?
Like he sends continuously that this channel doesn't move ?
Vinicius Juvinski
@juvinski
the battery should decreate the range once you have less power to transmit data - how is digital- the signal itself will not be affected
Etyop
@Etyopppp_twitter
hmmm
i'll simply change the channel and the servo and hope for the best so
Vinicius Juvinski

There's too much wind today, maiden flight postponed to tomorrow.
