    can you jsut skip the MEG ?

    can you jsut skip the MEG ?

    yes

    Stefan Appelhoff
    @sappelhoff
    what are these channels?
    • syst
    • bio
    • hbo
    • hbr
    • ias
    • exci
    hbo and hbr seem to be NIRS related (near infrared spec...)
    but the others are not so clear:
     'syst': FIFF.FIFFV_SYST_CH,
    'bio': FIFF.FIFFV_BIO_CH,
     'exci': FIFF.FIFFV_EXCI_CH,
    'ias': FIFF.FIFFV_IAS_CH,

    • continued to work on PR setting channel types from channels.tsv in read_raw_bids: mne-tools/mne-bids#219
    • reported an MNE-Python issue and proposed a solution: mne-tools/mne-python#6557
    • replied to MNE-Python issue: mne-tools/mne-python#6556
    • wasted lots of time trying to get rid of warnings in our testing suite such as:
      • FutureWarning: elementwise comparison failed; returning scalar instead, but in the future will perform elementwise comparison
      • numpy.ufunc size changed, may indicate binary incompatibility. Expected 192 from C header, got 216 from PyObject
    mne-tools/mne-bids#219 is ready for a review now :-)

    @sappelhoff I don't get notifications when you edit the Todo. Not sure what's the issue of plotting sensor locations?
    Stefan Appelhoff
    @sappelhoff

    Unlike MEG files, EEG files do not frequently come with the sensor locations in the raw data.

    Thus we'd have to provide template positions (e.g. 10-20 system) for the raw data that do not have their own sensor locations

    The plotting function crashes without sensor locs

    Stefan Appelhoff
    @sappelhoff
    After the PR on auto-updating channel types I thought I could give the CLI PR a shot: mne-tools/mne-bids#220
    and then go back to mne-study-template
    Mainak Jas
    @jasmainak

    Thus we'd have to provide template positions (e.g. 10-20 system) for the raw data that do not have their own sensor locations

    So would you populate this from the channels.tsv and use the set_montage function (or whatever is the latest with the montage stuff)

    okay sounds like a plan

    review the PR? :)
    Alexandre Gramfort
    @agramfort
    any other one?
    Mainak Jas
    @jasmainak
    perfect, thanks! I think that's it
    Alexandre Gramfort
    @agramfort
    @sappelhoff how can I play with your EEG version of the study template?
    Stefan Appelhoff
    @sappelhoff
    you can download the data here: https://osf.io/cj2dr/
    Alexandre Gramfort
    @agramfort
    great. Downloading now
    I'll play during the we
    Stefan Appelhoff
    @sappelhoff
    sounds good :-) have fun with the data
    I'll try to get the CLI for mne-bids going for the "copyfile" functions and better docs - then on monday I'll be back to the study template
    Alexandre Gramfort
    @agramfort
    I want to realize how painful it actually is to adapt to a new BIDS formated dataset
    how big is the full dataset?
    Stefan Appelhoff
    @sappelhoff
    7.4GB non zipped
    3.2 zipped

    sphinx question

    Hovering over our headings in the docs makes this symbol pop up: , which is a link.

    I was trying to find out how we could instead make the whole heading as the link, like it is in the MNE docs (try hovering over a heading there)

    I couldn't find the relevant setting. Does somebody of you know? Alex or @larsoner ?

    Eric Larson
    @larsoner

    Alex this is GSoC, it's important to teach not just coding but also work-life balance...

    Eric Larson
    @larsoner
    (if you Inspect one of the "headings you like" in google chrome you would find that the <a of interest has class="toc-backref" that is a hint in this direction)

    is there a simple way in python to list all the subjects available in the bids dataset?
    not doing glob of sub-*
