I figured out the issue though. You have to put all of the tiles into a parent sprite, and then flatten the sprite to cache it
For me, that improved performance by like 60ms lol

Flash should do enough optimization without the flattening. I'd try just not doing anything fancy and building thr grid with common textures and a bunch of image objects

Alright well, I added simple ship movement, it basically has a maximum turning angle for any one update which provides a turn radius. There are some obvious issues to it like clicking within the turning radius causes it to circle forever, but that will be easy to fix when im not feeling lazy
I'll add acceleration and stuff later to make it feel smoother, but for now you can just click around. I added the ship in the Game class.

Turn radius is great
