You mentioned something like that in the chat i didn't check the date

tbh I also have very little ambition around ST on Android
While there's a few things here and there that could be better, it mostly works for me as-is
And more importantly, when I think ahead a year or few, I see myself running a GNU+Linux phone, not Android
I'm on a Samsung Galaxy S6 running android 7. I plan/hope to replace it with a Librem 5, and plan to get a pinephone earlier than that to start playing around with
@mpcjanssen: So I'm much more interested in porting than anything else on Android.

But I also have sooo many thing I want to do right now, so it's not that high of a priority
except when I switch it will become a very high priority :P

hiq: Yeah, but I want ST on my desktop (and web!), too!
hiq
@hiq:matrix.org
[m]
ok, I thought that one point of ST was using the todo.txt format so that you can use other tools on the desktop. But maybe you'd like to use ST-specific features like the Lua addons on your desktop
smichel17
@smichel17:matrix.org
[m]
Yes, but to me the most important "other tool" is a simple text editor.
And yes, I miss lua scripts and saved filters -- basically "build your own workflow" functionality -- in other tools.

Hello, thank you for this app, I like it very much.
I just have some questions.
vojta
@vojta:vojtapolasek.eu
[m]
For some reason, when I turn off all filters, the tasks are grouped by project. Can I disable that?
1 reply
Also when I want to sort tasks by due date, I open "filter", go to "sort" and click due date and nothing changes in result. What am I doing wrong?
1 reply
Last and the least important question - can I specify the calendar which is used to create reminders?

[m]
Cooool, that's what I needed. Thanks.
Oh so it can't be synced?
smichel17
@smichel17:matrix.org
[m]
The drag is because it's an order. Sort by due date, and then if two items have the same date, sort by the next criteria..
I don't know of a way to sync it.. I won't say it definitively can't be done
Because it still does create a local calendar on the device, which other apps can read
So if there's another app which can sync a local calendar to a remote one, that should work (but most sync apps are the other way around -- syncing a remote calendar locally, which sounds like the same thing, but the difference is that they create a new local calendar that syncs, rather than an existing one)

@vojta:vojtapolasek.eu
[m]
hm hm
Would be nice feature to use existing calendar.
smichel17
@smichel17:matrix.org
[m]
Not really possible
Because simpletask is todo.txt
When the todo.txt file changes remotely, you don't know which new tasks correspond with the old ones
So you've no choice but to delete and recreate everything
Well, actually I take it back, you could keep track of every calendar even ST has created and delete only those
vojta
@vojta:vojtapolasek.eu
[m]
hm yes but I get the point.
Well I am using taskwarrior and thinking about switching to todo.txt. I actually wanted to have some script on my server which woul create events based on some keyword in my task list. At least this should be a bit easier with todo.txt.
smichel17
@smichel17:matrix.org
[m]
Lua scripting is approximately 100% of the reason why I use Simpletask, and ST is maybe 80% of the reason I use todo.txt (the other 20% is being able to do something reasonable with the file in a plain text editor)

@vojta:vojtapolasek.eu

Cool. I don't know lua. Well, I will try and see.

You can probably find some examples of things I've done if you search, both in this chat history and in the github issues (try the search, commenter:smichel17 lua)
It's a pretty simple language

Does anyone use Tasker with Simpletask?
mrey
@mrey:tchncs.de
[m]
Does simpletask also support adding a certain time to deadlines? So it's not "due tomorrow", but "due tomorrow, 12:34"
smichel17
@smichel17:matrix.org
[m]
No. It's been discussed and I think there's an open issue about it, though

I'll take a look, thanks!
