There's that pesky J-word again

What do you mean?

smichel17
@smichel17:matrix.org
[m]
"just"
mrey

[m]
I see
vojta
@vojta:vojtapolasek.eu
[m]
That was a nice thing about Taskwarrior.
as it used kinda database for tracking changes in the task list.

@smichel17:matrix.org
[m]
Most of the time, "just" is a value judgement about how much effort something is and is thus not a very useful word, because everyone has different standards for how much effort is a lot
I've been working to remove it from my vocabulary, except in cases where it actually adds something like, "I didn't mean XYZ, I just meant Z"
mpcjanssen

[m]
@mrey diffing the files is not the problem. Making the UI to let the user do something with it is. And that is far outside my definition of "just"

I wonder if it would make more sense to port ST to the browser rather than make a native Linux app.
vojta
@vojta:vojtapolasek.eu
[m]
There is already a different todo.txt app with gui
effitask
But not sure if features are comparable, I can't use it
smichel17
@smichel17:matrix.org
[m]
None that supports ST's lua scripts.
I can and do edit my todo.txt file as plain text, but when I switch to a gnu/linux phone, I am going to want ST or something like it.
It's less about editing the tasks and more about custom filters to display them in different ways, though.

How abou topydo?
I am using it on Linux, it is written in Python and it has several interfaces.
smichel17
@smichel17:matrix.org
[m]
Haven't tried it
vojta

I actually use Topydo on Linux and Simpletask on Android.
Syncing with Nextcloud. It works.

@mpcjanssen
@smichel17:matrix.org implementing simpletask in the browser would be an interesting exercise.

Hi all!
A question: is possible to have 2 or more widget with different settings?
vojta
@vojta:vojtapolasek.eu
[m]
Yes, I did that.
giuliolunati
@giuliolunati
@vojta thank you! Also, do you can specialize Lua script on a widget basis?
smichel17
@smichel17:matrix.org
[m]
When you create the widget, it uses whatever settings are currently in use in the app. That includes lua scripts. You can also edit it afterward. I'm a little unsure of where your confusion is, because it is quite easy to try and make two widgets and test for yourself whether it works
elmussol:elsmussols.net @elmussol:elsmussols.net notes the appearance of Simpletask Nextcloud in F-droid today. I have up until this point been using Simpletask Cloudless and having Nextcloud keeping todo.txt and done.txt autouploaded from a monitored directory.
elmussol
@elmussol:elsmussols.net
[m]
What benefit do I get from the Nextcloud variant?
vojta
@vojta:vojtapolasek.eu
[m]
Hi, when adding tasks through the background intent, I still receive the dialog where I have to click to save the task. Is that expected? I thought it will simple add the task and done.
mjanssen
@freenode_mjanssen:matrix.org
[m]
elmussol all versions of Simpletask have the same functionallity. So if you have a montored folder approach which works, the nextcloud version will not buy you anything
vojta, that is configurable (Features -> Edit shared tasks)
