There is already a different todo.txt app with gui
effitask
But not sure if features are comparable, I can't use it

None that supports ST's lua scripts.
I can and do edit my todo.txt file as plain text, but when I switch to a gnu/linux phone, I am going to want ST or something like it.
It's less about editing the tasks and more about custom filters to display them in different ways, though.

How abou topydo?
I am using it on Linux, it is written in Python and it has several interfaces.

Haven't tried it

I actually use Topydo on Linux and Simpletask on Android.
Syncing with Nextcloud. It works.

@smichel17:matrix.org implementing simpletask in the browser would be an interesting exercise.

Hi all!
A question: is possible to have 2 or more widget with different settings?
vojta
@vojta:vojtapolasek.eu
[m]
Yes, I did that.
giuliolunati
@giuliolunati
@vojta thank you! Also, do you can specialize Lua script on a widget basis?
smichel17
@smichel17:matrix.org
[m]
When you create the widget, it uses whatever settings are currently in use in the app. That includes lua scripts. You can also edit it afterward. I'm a little unsure of where your confusion is, because it is quite easy to try and make two widgets and test for yourself whether it works
elmussol:elsmussols.net @elmussol:elsmussols.net notes the appearance of Simpletask Nextcloud in F-droid today. I have up until this point been using Simpletask Cloudless and having Nextcloud keeping todo.txt and done.txt autouploaded from a monitored directory.

What benefit do I get from the Nextcloud variant?

Hi, when adding tasks through the background intent, I still receive the dialog where I have to click to save the task. Is that expected? I thought it will simple add the task and done.

elmussol all versions of Simpletask have the same functionallity. So if you have a montored folder approach which works, the nextcloud version will not buy you anything
vojta, that is configurable (Features -> Edit shared tasks)

Hi! someone could tell me how can I delete a hidden list which I created with h:1?
David Di Santi
@ddisanti
@aldomo_gitlab first, deactivate any active filter, so all the tasks are shown. Then, in the main screen, tap the "Filter" button in the upper right corner, then go to "Other" and enable "Show hidden tasks".
Then select the tasks that contain the lists you want to delete. Remove the desired lists from them.

Thanks. I have done that. But when I'm going to select a list for a new task, I still see a list of a bunch of lists I used in the past to choose from. How can I clean this old list names?

David Di Santi
@ddisanti
List names persists if at least one tasks have it. So, remove all active filters and enable "Show hidden tasks". All tasks should be listed. Then, open de left drawer and select the lists you want to remove. Any tasks containing such a lists will be showed. Finally, select all those tasks and removes the desired lists from them.
If the problem persist, maybe there is some misspelling in your todo.txt file.

Hi, apols if wrong place to ask. I am looking for a replacement for Out of Milk (bought by a US company and Europeans are being kicked off it), and have installed the simpletask cloudless version. I really like the todo.txt method, and it seems to be a neat way to do my shopping list and various to-do lists. I am bamboozled by the cloud version and the WebDAV protocol, but before I start at that, can anyone tell me if using the cloud version is the right approach to sharing my shopping list with my partner? does it end up working out well with sync-ing when the list is shared. I have to say, Out of Milk did run really smoothly. Grateful for any guidance.

@tallishpaul
@mpcjanssen I've finally figured out what to do with WebDAV and got simpletask cloud working, sharing with SO. It's a really great app, on top of the (new to me) great todo .txt method - it's taking a while to figure out how to use it all well. Thanks very much. When I download from F-Droid, the Nextcloud is the cloud version and and the Cloud version is the nextcloud version. Bit confusing!
Mark Janssen
@mpcjanssen
@tallishpaul the FDroid names are indeed wrong and I don't know why.
Syncing both to the same webdav should be OK if you always have good network connection
I am thinking about making a version of simpletask based on taskwarrior which has a better synchronisation story.
tallishpaul
@tallishpaul

@mpcjanssen I was getting comfy with syncing but I see that my Koofr cloud storage has 4 conflict files over the last 5 days. It's only me using it only on one mobile (my partner just uses the shopping list and not for those conflicts). The todo list is always correct so far, so perhaps it doesn't really matter, but I have to "just" check them :) which is a bit ironic for an efficient app like yours. I'm working from home and out and about very little what with the collapse of empires and all that, but I suspect the conflicts are from me using simpletask at the allotment. Maybe not though, because reception seems pretty good up there, I stream audio OK. The only setting I can adjust is Simpletask Settings>Feature>'Time before save' which is set at 3 seconds. Is that sensible? Is there some user error / a nack to stop sync issues?

My sync issues are the only (minor) problem I have, and after a month or so of use I'm liking it lots. Many thanks.

For tasks grouped under the same +projects/tags, has anyone found a clever way to make a task dependent on another one (or more) having been done? I have standalone tasks split into various @ contexts/lists. I also have some +projects/tags with 5 to 10 tasks in them, often with dependencies on each other. I'm wary of dating them to infer dependency. Currently I use priority on the tasks within +projects/tags to put them in some sort of project order and accept I have to be careful to note dependencies in the tasks themselves. Is there a better way?
