@nebrius being able to just keep creating a new raspi-io instance in the same vm is wonderful
this thing works really well. 5/5 would recommend

@monteslu wow. can't wait to try node-red. btw, I think there is a command missing to install node-red. sudo npm install -g --unsafe-perm node-red?

you shouldn't have to install node-red. They included it in the latest raspbian

My bot has a HCSR04 proximity sensor, but when I try to use it through j5, I get the message: "pingRead is not yet implemented"
Any ideas to implement this?

@tralves This is your best bet for HCSR04 on the Pi https://github.com/ajfisher/nodebots-hcsr04
And any platform, really. pingRead (which is only implemented on Arduino right now) is blocking, so by delegating the reads to another AVR and pulling the data over I2C you eliminate the timing issues.

thx @frxnz. I am new at this. Do I need a Arduino nano to connect the HCSR04 to the RPI?

@tralves You need a nano, a pro-mini, or an uno
(or any of the equivalent chinese copies)

In the diagram your Raspberry Pi would take the place of the Uno

@frxnz I see... that will be hard to put in my bot (http://www.pi2go.co.uk/) since it is an integrated board with all the connections in it. meanwhile, I found this: rwaldron/johnny-five#842, but it only led to the unfinished project https://github.com/sesh-kebab/raspi-sonar

Yeah, sadly I think the author got distracted.
I'll try and check out your changes in the next few days (very full schedule today)

@ajfisher Everything on the bot is hardwired (including the HCSR04). Makes it tough to add another avr in there

Ah bugger. Couldn't really make out much from that pic.
This is probably one of those moments I'd get out a desoldering kit. ;)
Definitely no need to add pingRead to raspi-io

@ajfisher @frxnz the HCSR04 is not hardwired. I'll have to look if I can cram that stuff in :)
