Alas, I'm still having a bit of trouble. I got the Pi's IP from the leases plist file (well, I assume it's the Pi - it's the only one) and that IP does return data when pinged. But when I try to SSH into it using ssh -vvv pi@, I get:

I think that I have not correctly found my Pi's IP address, when connected via Thunderbolt-Ethernet. After removing the cable from Macbook, I can still ping that IP. 😡 Curse you El Cap.
