I need more pins. I have already exhausted the pins of HW I2C using mcp23017.

@crosofg with i2c you can connect more than one mcp23*
using the same bus
maximum 8
using different addresses of course

Just curious - what are the average times for gulp to execute gulp-babel & gulp-eslint ES6 linter task? I'm getting avg times of 1.7minutes @_@

Not sure if it's because I've upgraded to the latest distro of raspbian

@crosofg do you know if anyone else has successfully done software I2C on a Pi before? I'm wondering if the timings can be accurate enough given the non-realtime nature of the OS
You could also try connecting them to multiple Arduinos, and connect those to the Pi, basically using them like expanders
Hi @sesh-kebab, good to see you 'round! I only run the linter/compiler on my laptop, not the Pi, but it only takes a few seconds for me

@nebrius :smile: likewise. Thanks - I think i'll try that approach from now on too. But I have to admit, executing commands does feel like it's taking longer ever since I've upgraded to jessie.

note to self
upgrading to babel 6 would probably help too

yeah, we’ll have to do it all at once for the raspi ecosystem, which may necessitate some major version bumps or something, just to be safe

@crosofg lol
I'm even getting a strange behaviour of the library with my rasp and a single mcp

that doesn’t sound fun, can you file an issue with a description of the problem?

I've posted few days ago on jonnhy's room
@nebrius yes, I will, didn't have much time lately

oh yeah, that, it’s usually because the I2C address doesn’t exist

strange things is: in the paste there are three identical run of the same program

try running gpio i2cdetect. It will print out all devices that the Pi can see and what their addresses are

I can reproduce the I2C error with the MCP23017 but haven't figured out what it is yet.

@sebbalex Is the reset pin on the on the MCP23017 connected to 3.3V?
