Hey guys
I'm going to give this a go on a swanky new Raspberry Pi 3B
I imagine all the scripts will just work as planned; unless anyone else has tried this yet and has any thoughts?

Also - how much noise does the fan make? If it's at all audible, would a fixed heat sink do the trick instead?

for instance, https://raspberrypi.stackexchange.com/questions/22928/does-the-raspberry-pi-need-a-cooling-system suggests no cooling is necessary (although it refers to the model 2)
might try without cooling first, and monitor temps as discussed here: https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=55940 - I hate fan noise, especially those cheapo fans which often start to rattle after a few months

@tommcintyre yes the Raspberry Pi 3 should just work…as of yesterday in fact!
you might run into some installation issues though, see nebrius/raspi-io#41 for more info
I don’t use a fan or heatsink with Raspberry Pi’s unless I’m going to stick them in a closed area with poor ventilation

also just out of curiosity re noise, which fan did you buy?
as you said, they’re all different, so noise will depend on which one you got

none yet - just going from past experience on those little fans
i know quality varies significantly

yeah, I’d just go without, and if it becomes a problem (which is very unlikely) then you could buy one

I’m going by Chris’s guide at https://github.com/MrChrisJ/fullnode/ and had some thoughts about choice of filesystem etc. I’ll probably use an external spinning disk (where ext4 with appropriate mount options would appear to be more sensible), but for a flash storage device (or SSD) something like UBIFS might do a better job of not wearing out the flash. But I’ll try and benchmark a few options before claiming to have an actual opinion. :)

I have no opinion either, I just use an SD card for everything 😄

@nebrius thanks! I was trying to get a "that's awesome" reaction from my wife but the more explained about how cool I thought it was the the more uninterested she became  oh well. I'm glad a place like this gitter channel exists! :+1:
