ok i was being lazy, once i cloned it i could do a search through all the files locally and found that the home page image comes from .\assets\css\main.scss

hey guys
got problem I can't figure out
I'm trying to hook up my gatsby to netlify cms
I've add the config file
cms.js , just like in the example
but
I keep getting this
Invariant Violation: Objects are not valid as a React child (found: TypeError: Failed to fetch). If you meant to render a collection of children, use an array instead. in p (created by Context.Consumer) in ErrorMessage (created by g) in form (created by Context.Consumer) in AuthForm (created by g) in section (created by Context.Consumer) in StyledAuthenticationPage (created by g) in g (created by m) in m (created by I) in div (created by I) in I (created by Context.Consumer) in Unknown (created by Connect(Component)) in Connect(Component) (created by t) in t in t (created by t) in t in a in m (created by Context.Consumer) in Unknown in t in Unknown
that's on local version
when I deploy it says pretty much same thing
page itself works perfectly fine

hello people
came in to ask a question but saw @maciekgrzybek 's one
can I see your repo?
this doesn't seem like a Netlify problem
React child (like children from a component) can be single elements or arrays, not objects. You might be passing some object somewhere
I have a simple question for you all: when I'm editing a post in Netlify admin dashboard, I want to see a preview of how it's gonna look on my site. The right part of the editor shows ugly default HTML. How can I edit that?
Tyler Gaw
@tylergaw

@angelod1as There's a few things you can do. If adding CSS is enough, you can use registerPreviewStyle on the admin index.html page. Here's what I'm doing right now:

<!doctype html>
<html>
<head>
  <meta charset="utf-8" />
  <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0" />
  <title>Content Manager</title>
</head>
<body>
  <script src="https://unpkg.com/netlify-cms@^2.0.0/dist/netlify-cms.js"></script>
  <script>
    CMS.registerPreviewStyle("/assets/css/base.css");
  </script>
</body>
</html>

That base.css is a stylesheet that is used on my main site.

You can also fully customize the html output for that preview. I haven't done that, but there are docs on it here https://www.netlifycms.org/docs/customization/

I'm using Gatsby and Netlify, by the way
ah I was wondering where I could put all this CMS code
A question: I'm using React and Styled Components. I'd need to write a separate css file for Netlify, right?
and @tylergaw thanks :D
Tyler Gaw
@tylergaw
I think so, yes if you want to use registerPreviewStyle you 'd need to write a separate css file. If you went the route of registerPreviewTemplate you could prob use a styled component for that.
:thumbsup:

@angelod1as
awesome
thanks!
I'll give it a try

Cool, cool. I have a GitHub backend question for anyone. I'm trying to do the most basic setup following the docs here https://www.netlifycms.org/docs/authentication-backends/#github-backend but I'm missing something. Is there a step missing from the docs there? Seems like there needs to be something in the config.yml to tell it where the authentication app is?
Angelo Dias
@angelod1as
Ah, @tylergaw I added netlify-cms as a npm package. Do I need to import this script tag?
Tyler Gaw
@tylergaw
@angelod1as You might not need the script tag. I haven't done this, but I'd guess where ever you import netlify-cms you could invoke registerPreviewStyle there?
Angelo Dias
@angelod1as
nice, I'll try. Thanks

Hello All. I have a question about the config.yml file. I've set up a collection for 'posts' and it works just fine. My question is if I have post content in multiple folders, do I need to create a collection for each folder. For example, I have /content/post/2017, post/2018, post/2018, etc. Is there a way that I can use a single collection definition for all .md files in recursive directories? Thanks in advance, Paul.

Anyone easily migrated WP blog post content & respective URLs to Netlify CMS?

hi there.
I've been looking into some alternatives to wordpress's CMS for blog content.
especially for sites entirely built on PHP.
and i was wondering how this tool can make the whole process easier for the teams involved
just want to confirm that it's possible to begin adding all old content in this sort of CMS .
and having it directly index under our domain rather than a .wordpress.com one
Patrick Artounian
@partounian
@adwordvigilante_twitter 100% possible, just need to take time to migrate data (dev to create script)
Roberto Severino
@adwordvigilante_twitter
oh really?
cool
and from your experience, would these posts be indexed under a main domain
we got rid of a subdomain that wasn't getting much traffic at all
and we want to get all the benefits of SEO on our site .
i was also thinking this would make it even easier for non-developers to be able to go in and edit content
not just on blogs, but on other pages
i also wonder if there's any documentation on creating the script to migrate that data properly
all valuable information for sure
i do the digital marketing stuff, but the site is very dev-based

Hey all I've set up Netlify CMS on Netlify with Identity, hosting the repo on GitLab. Everything works fine on the production build, but locally I am unable to open the CMS?
