@ioctaptceb
ImportError: cannot import name 'actions'
i will need to step out for a moment
Shreejoy Tripathy
@stripathy
gah, i have that same error on my local machine and was stuck with it
ystartsev
@ioctaptceb
excellent
ill be back in 5 minutes
Shreejoy Tripathy
@stripathy
ok
Shreejoy Tripathy
@stripathy
you need to do this: # If error: Cannot import module actions: go to django/contrib/admin/sites.py and delete "from django.contrib.admin import actions" and add "from django.contrib.admin.actions import delete_selected"

Also same file: line 50 remove "actions" from the line

@ioctaptceb
hi back
ok i will take a look
ystartsev
@ioctaptceb
making more progress
looks good
now i just need to import the mysql database you mentioned
Shreejoy Tripathy
@stripathy
make sure you do this first pip install mysql-python
have you used mysql before?
ystartsev
@ioctaptceb
i have but not for python
i noticed that it installs with the shell scrip
Shreejoy Tripathy
@stripathy
right
you need to go into mysql and create a new database called "neuroelectro"
and keep track of your user and password privileges
and then load the database i sent you into the mysql database you just created
ystartsev
@ioctaptceb
hm, ok. i think this will need to be continued tomorrow or another day
as mysql is buggy on arch, and has been replaced by maria, a similar mysql database
and i need a bit of time to wrap my head around the config
But you already got me farther than I was, so thanks for that
I will ask again once I get beyond the quirks (or if i switch to ubuntu)
Shreejoy Tripathy
@stripathy
sounds good
let me know if you have any more quesitons or pesky bugs
ystartsev
@ioctaptceb

i will be in touch
thanks for the help gagin

@dtebaykin how to get ipython notebook with django models: http://andrewbrookins.com/python/using-ipython-notebook-with-django/
ystartsev
@ioctaptceb
hey guys, ive had a bit more success in running the app - it now starts
ystartsev
@ioctaptceb
but it has issues importing models
line 4 of admin.py
it also has this error
ttributeError: 'RegexURLResolver' object has no attribute '_urlconf_module'
ystartsev
@ioctaptceb
Exception Type: ImportError
Exception Value:
No module named 'models'
Exception Location: /home/io/sites/neuroelectro_org/neuroelectro/admin.py in <module>, line 4
Shreejoy Tripathy
@stripathy
@ioctaptceb it's strange the app starts but you can't import the models
in the terminal, try: "python manage.py shell" instead of "python manage.py runserver"
Shreejoy Tripathy
@stripathy
then try importing the models using : "import neuroelectro.models as m"

@dtebaykin info on converting talbes from myisam to innodb: http://kvz.io/blog/2010/04/27/convert-all-tables-to-innodb-in-one-go/
Dmitry Tebaykin
@dtebaykin
@stripathy Try the command in mysql: SELECT table_name, engine FROM information_schema.tables where table_schema = 'neuroelectro_test';
use table name neuroelectro instead of neuroelectro_test though
