    strange :/
    Marcel Klehr
    @marcelklehr
    yeah
    I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful
    micson82
    @micson82
    No problem. Now it works.
    Many thanks for your support.
    Marcel Klehr
    @marcelklehr
    glad it works now :)
    you're welcome :)

    @micson82
    Interestingly, the sync in Firefox has now also worked without problems. Before, it only worked in Microsoft Edge.
    Marcel Klehr
    @marcelklehr
    so there was indeed something broken in the db ... :/
    micson82
    @micson82
    Yes, I think so.
    Another question: What about the mapping of the folder structure in the app for Android? Is there any progress here?

    I'm not affiliated with the original android app, so I can't say, but I doubt it
    there is, however, a new android app: nextcloud/bookmarks#1597

    @micson82
    Ok, sounds great. I will test it.
    Now I wish you a nice Sunday. And thank you again and good luck with the development of the Bookmarks App.

    Oh, maybe I misunderstood the message now that I reviewed it again.

    There was a request, that the root folder should be selectable within the bookmarks app and only that folder (with children) should be synced.

    Marcel Klehr
    @marcelklehr
    ah. mh, tough one.
    @emasty:matrix.org I've been planning to extend floccus to be available as a mobile app
    Kinda like the one you're building
    if you're planning to implement a proper sync client, maybe we can join forces?
    emasty
    @emasty:matrix.org

    To sync directly to the browser?
    Marcel Klehr
    @marcelklehr
    nope.
    just to sync to a local db
    and display the bookmarks in an app
    (technically floccus already works on mobile, but there's only one browser that supports it :'D)
    emasty
    @emasty:matrix.org

    Does floccus have a frontend?
    Marcel Klehr
    @marcelklehr
    yep
    it's written in vue.js

    Oh, I didn't notice 😉

    The tricky part of sync is, that it should actually be implemented as a background service. Otherwise the OS might kill or pause longer syncs without you even noticing it and it leads to strange results.
    Which by itself is not complicated but syncing it with the foreground app, refreshing the current view and implementing a proper queue management which can also be canceled is a lot more effort. Even with reactive programming patterns...
    Marcel Klehr
    @marcelklehr
    yeah
    I'm not sure what the best way forward is, but I feel like we would be duplicating work, if we both work on basically the same mobile app. That said I'm not sure how the two codebases could be merged if at all, since they're in dart vs javascript
    Marcel Klehr
    @marcelklehr
    @emasty:matrix.org What's your view on this?

    Do you know if the two ecosystems could be merged. I can imagine, that a background service could be implemented in something else than the frontend. But I don't know if a background task can be done with ts/js on mobile.

    I still want to publish my current work as open source. I do not have any interest in keeping it for myself. I don't know if that could also be an option for you.

    How far are you with the implementation?

    Good question!

    Cool! Floccus is also open source :)

    How far are you with the implementation?

    Not very far, as floccus is very coupled to the browser APIs atm

    I don't know if a background task can be done with ts/js on mobile.

    That may be the best of both worlds indeed, as I never really liked the idea of web-based android apps. Having the UI in flutter is a better UX, imho

    Does nextcloud bookmarks have reading progress or a way to distinguish articles one has opened but not finish reading ?
    Marcel Klehr
    @marcelklehr
    @bolgrov:privacytools.io No, that's currently not implemented
    read-later features are rare atm

    @marcelklehr Hey, sorry for the delayed response! There is no difference, the upgrade requires the same deletion and recreation of that table, very time consuming ~ 1-2H :(

    @sunjam:matrix.org cool! What does this mean?
