@bewest This is the only thing I can find to compile with.

Hey, I finally got it to compile the HEX... only took me 43 days to figure it out!

Thanks for the info on the range. Though Carelink range will be the least of my problems given my goal to upload (automatically) from the Freestyle Libre using some sort of home-made bridge (boosting range or, more likely, making it small and nearby). Pending sensors, like everyone else, of course...

FML all other test results came back normal except the one that detects inflammation in my intestines, which pretty much points towards inflammatory bowel disease according to my rheumatologist (not irritable bowel syndrome!). I see my GI doctor in a month though... :(

@4gra the Freestyle Libre seems like an exciting device. I bet it will help a lot of people.

Hmm looks like Veo firmware version 2.6 suspends the pump when downloading data to CareLink, version 2.8 doesn't.

@sulkaharo CareLink the hardware, or the proprietary software? I understand (second hand) that the 554 V2.8 suspends when connecting to the medtronic software, yet my experience connecting a 554 V2.6 using decocare is that there is no automatic suspend (indeed no visible signs at all of communication occurring), leaving me to assume the software does the suspend/resume as a safety/locking feature.

@4gra This is when downloading data using Carelink
I have a two year old Veo with 2.6 and a new with 2.8 and the old pump does suspend but I don't see the suspension message with 2.8

Ah, during the download operation. Noted, thanks. I presume we're in the same boat, then; I am testing on a V2.6 and daren't touch the "live" V2.8 (yet...).

Do you have the temp basal setting working with 2.6?
Graham
@4gra

@sulkaharo no but I'm really just getting started; I expect to try this in the next day or two. I've not transmitted substantial data either way yet, just a few basic operations, attempting to feel my way slowly.

there's no need to suspend
that's cargo cult safety

I guess the one safety measure to potentially take is to ask if the pump is bolusing and if yes, wait until the bolus is over before proceeding with data requests
Ben West
@bewest
Mar 16 2015 19:21
there's a command to determine bolusing status
no need to suspend
I called them up and have asked several people on inside
like official support tickets on "why do you suspend pump with carelink?"
"why do you issue 0 temp basal with carelink?"
there's not a good reason from anyone and my testing indicates there's no need at all

@bewest potentially harmful to the user if interrupted, too...

yeah, I think it's just everyone doing their small part in the most conservative way possible
but you wind up with a system that is way overly conservative and doesn't actually solve the needs anymore

@bewest that's diabetes management in a nutshell, unfortunately
