ah, it got off by a day when I was traveing
setting it forward at time I set it moved clock forward a day
setting it back when I came back did not move over a day's boundary though
just 3 hours

Alright I just turned my Raspberry pi on
Yellow and Red light... good sign?
I guess the yellow is for the SD card...which was a PITA to put in this particular case
I got a model B so I should be good

@diabeticgonewild
May 04 2015 00:36
what do I need to transfer over to the pi?

i'll write you script
you can try this if you trust it:
hmm
try git
does it have python?
try this:
sudo apt-get install python python-setuptools git
or sans python-setuptools

do you have putty?
or hyperterm

@diabeticgonewild
May 04 2015 00:48
nope
I can get either or
Ben West
@bewest
May 04 2015 00:48
putty is free, you need any terminal emulator

@diabeticgonewild
May 04 2015 00:50
OK
you have to download hyperterminal Windows 7 and older
:(
even though my computer is 64 bit I am going to run the x86 version of puTTY as my computer can run 32 bit programs
So of course on puTTY it's like Serial COM1 or whatever
I can't get it serial on COM1 on either USB port

should be able to ssh

@diabeticgonewild
May 04 2015 00:54
oh
what's the default IP address of a Pi 2?
I mean I can google this
Ben West
@bewest
May 04 2015 00:55
you might have to ask your router
that's easiest way
diabeticgonewild
@diabeticgonewild
May 04 2015 00:56
Dude I have the most jacked up router situation....
Like EE student FTW...I have like 1 gateway, 2 routers, 3 wifi extenders, cause we have the internet coming in on one side of the house...
I think it's like PiDora or something...
like I have the "WiFi for dummies" and then the super fast WiFi that works well for me and my twin bro
but back to work
Like I don't even know the default IP addresses on the routers, like too much crap to keep track of...but I can fix it!
back to work...
Ben West
@bewest
May 04 2015 00:58
you should be able to use the serial port
those are the two options

yeah
they recommend teraterm

wow: just wow. I've been having trouble with DIYPS' mongodb getting really slow lately, to the point where things would time out after 30 seconds. I finally reset my admin password, logged in, and created a date index for the pump data. and now, everything is instant! amazing what happens when it doesn't have to scan every single pump record for all of history hundreds of times to display a page. ;-)

What do you guys/gals think of #VirtualPancreas for my stuff
thanks, even though I feel like it's christmas (not religious) I am slightly tired of sitting in front of a TV, reformatting the SD card, repeat
I got the most tedious stuff complete
oh also, because my internet is jacked up at my house (I do know what I am doing though...I just don't want to drive anyone nuts by reconfiguring it all) I don't want to hook up the powerline to get the Pi working until everyone goes to bed
because I don't have it plugged in to a router...I have it plugged into a gateway and it hogs the connection...I do know what I am doing though.
I know terminal and command line pretty well, so I should have it down, as long as I follow directions!
But seriously, what do you think of #VirtualPancreas ?
I just don't want Dana and Scott's work to get confused with mine, and they deserve way more credit than they take.

hashtag
yeah it's not a humble name at all which is kind of a problem
but when you factor in what it is going to/what it does....
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
May 04 2015 04:06
It's descriptive. It works.
diabeticgonewild
@diabeticgonewild
May 04 2015 04:08
Yeah I changed my Twitter description already. Some mathematician dude suggested putting my paper across to another Twitter account to see if they would post it.
Like that paper spells out how to solve for all of that stuff so it's not a mystery. I actually need to add some things like intrinsic Gaussian conditional autoregression...like spell it out
It's still very complex and I haven't worked on it in a few weeks (feeling crappy) but that will have to change
I just fear the name being an overstatement
diabeticgonewild
@diabeticgonewild
May 04 2015 04:27
Like the stuff I am doing is mentally taxing...like #VirtualPancreas ...like it's about to become overwhelming again and that's why I am focusing my energy on an #OpenAPS because I will wear myself out...honestly it would be good for me if I was healthier and stuff but not when I am about to receive chemo and IV iron infusions over the next month or so...

@diabeticgonewild

Thinking about starting up my brand new never used 522 pump tonight.... should I give it a go?
diabeticgonewild
@diabeticgonewild
May 04 2015 04:42
Alright I got mad skillz....just inserted a Dexcom sensor into my upper arm one-handed and by myself!
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
May 04 2015 04:42
I keep trying to convince people to do that. IMO that's the best sensor placement.
diabeticgonewild
@diabeticgonewild
May 04 2015 04:44
doesn't get in the way either...I have PT tomorrow in the pool and electrical signals generally don't transmit underwater...so...
I just used the ledge of the counter to like "fling" the inserter off
like used the other hand/arm to release the inserter, and used the ledge to force/fling it off
kind of awkward but it worked
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
May 04 2015 04:45
If you do it upside down (so needle is injecting down), when you press the edges, Gravity pulls off the inserter, won't require flinging :)
diabeticgonewild
@diabeticgonewild
May 04 2015 04:45
nice!

So to switch to the 522...that is the question...
diabeticgonewild
@diabeticgonewild
May 04 2015 04:52
It will take awhile for me to actually get an #OpenAPS going like at least a month but at least I can get into the mindset
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
May 04 2015 04:53
Yea. It's fun to at least get the basics with the Pi and be able to do remote button presses. Feels more real, even if you don't have algorithm yet.
diabeticgonewild
@diabeticgonewild
May 04 2015 05:24
Yeah I will change my pump out in a few...I am almost completely out of insulin, so I need to order it before I go on my trip...
btw, even though I know my way around town and I am 25 so I can drive a rental car, I won't be driving on this trip. Like driving there vs. where I live will keep you more "on edge" and like my driving record is clear but like we got in a bad car wreck like on I-5 N like literally adjacent to the Smith Tower a few years ago when we were there. It did like $7000 damage to my uncle's car and totaled the other car. Just FYI
Like my mom will drive me around and stuff...she knows I am working on a programming project but she doesn't know specificially what I am up to.
Like I am not even going to bother asking my mom "can I drive?"
diabeticgonewild
@diabeticgonewild
May 04 2015 05:30
Like my dad was driving my uncle's car through downtown and like this dude with a beat up pickup truck 20 years old with rotating axles was going like 30 in a 55 and my dad had to hit the brakes and like the person behind us didn't hit the brakes in time and well that was fun...
diabeticgonewild
@diabeticgonewild
May 04 2015 05:39
But yeah...about to switch out pumps...sorry for being whiny.

@danamlewis It's probably because I'm hefty and the arm flab flexes, but I find that arm sensors peel off within a couple days. I even load up on skin-prep to encourage it to stick. Do you have any tricks on encouraging the adhesive to stick on the arm?
I love the results I get from the CGM on the arms and there isn't any real estate competition there.
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
May 04 2015 16:21
@mgranberry - what part of the arm do you put it on? And are you dealing with sweat a lot? On my stomach sweat and water seem to kill the regular sensitive adhesive much faster than flexifix tape. But on my arm the flexifix tape it likely to go a lot faster with sweat when I run
Matthias Granberry
@mgranberry
May 04 2015 16:24
@danamlewis I try it on the back part of the arm that you can't effing reach. It isn't a sweat problem. It just seems like the adhesive peels off for no reason, starting on day one. I try and smoosh it down well so the adhesive activates, I may need to just buy some flexfix. I like the price/feel of cover roll stretch tape and it works on the stomach, but the arm seems resistant to it all.
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
May 04 2015 16:47
@mgranberry that's so frustrating :( FWIW, when I do tape, I cut four strips, and then overlay them around the edges. (Some people cut a hole for the transmitter and place it down.) That seems to help the flexifix last longer. And if the sensor adhesive is peeling up a little before I put flexifix down, sometimes I slip the edge of of an extra flexifix strip under the peeling up part, and then place a larger strip down so it sandwiches the sensor tape (that is peeling up) between two layers of flexifix.
Matthias Granberry
@mgranberry
May 04 2015 17:16
I have a .svg and jig for laser-cutting tape. 30 minutes in a hackerspace and I'm set for months.
thanks for the tips, though. I haven't used flexfix yet. I wonder if insurance would cover it.
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
May 04 2015 17:22
Wow! Fancy :)
I bought a roll on Amazon for $35 two years ago…about halfway through the roll I think at this point (don't use it every time, but other people I know use about a roll a year when using it for every sensor).
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
May 04 2015 18:35
yeah, those rolls are huge: they're marketed to surgeon's offices, etc. where they use a lot more of it
Matthias Granberry
@mgranberry
May 04 2015 18:36
2" or 4"? Probably 4" if it's going around the dex.
Apparently on sale right now for $28.50 and prime. I should get another roll :)
diabeticgonewild
@diabeticgonewild
May 04 2015 21:58
I use kinesiology tape, because it wicks sweat. It's like elastic-cloth tape
Like Rocktape (H2O version has twice as much adhesive) or Kinesio tape....some brands are better than others, so it's best to search on Amazon...
Still haven't got my Pi 2 fully up and running...just don't feel that great today...
I know it's an excuse but still.

list of differences between carelink csv and my own decoding: https://github.com/bewest/decoding-carelink/blob/bewest/dev/analysis/578398/gap.diff
diabeticgonewild
@diabeticgonewild
May 04 2015 23:19
I think it would be hard to decode in other languages vs. python...I mean python does make it more intuitive....like when I was taking technical communications with this really nerdy EE student who really knew how to code, he pointed out that python was really the best for handling the CSV files, although I have it relatively figured out in MATLAB well
There are some "messed up cells" where only like Excel handles it "kind of OK" with respect to the CSV files from CareLink, if you know what I mean @bewest
Also, @bewest what kind of CareLink uploads do you need? I have a 522 pump running right now
Ben West
@bewest
May 04 2015 23:22
best thing is to use carelink to upload data, go to csv export to get the csv out
diabeticgonewild
@diabeticgonewild
May 04 2015 23:22
that's all you need?
Ben West
@bewest
May 04 2015 23:23
what else is there?
that's the only thing there is
diabeticgonewild
@diabeticgonewild
May 04 2015 23:23
IDK I thought you wanted specific stuff like bolus wizard data
Ben West
@bewest
May 04 2015 23:23
it's in there
if it's a test pump
diabeticgonewild
@diabeticgonewild

like where were you having issues with respect to data, so I can make sure my pump settngs affect that.
Ben West

May 04 2015 23:24
the correction estimate, it would be nice to have some data that shows it wrapping around 0
diabeticgonewild
@diabeticgonewild
May 04 2015 23:24
I know that CareLink CSV does "everything", remember that's what I used to program my garbage (cause it's uncommented :( ) in 2011
like having "no correction value"
?
Ben West
@bewest
May 04 2015 23:25
no, having a correction value that on repeated runs literally wraps around 0
eg starts negative and then goes positive
or starts positive and then goes negative
diabeticgonewild
@diabeticgonewild
May 04 2015 23:25
Oh, got it
so set a target that can do that
Ben West
@bewest
May 04 2015 23:25
think just setting bg with right IOB will do it
diabeticgonewild
@diabeticgonewild
May 04 2015 23:26
btw, totally irresponsible, but I don't use bolus wizard a lot. I do think I am smarter than it, if I am being responsble
kk
Like sometimes I am literally diabetic gone wld
but that's another story
Ben West
@bewest
May 04 2015 23:26
dunno what that has to do with responsibility or why it would imply a value judgement on you personally
lots of people don't use the wizard
most adults I know don't
diabeticgonewild
@diabeticgonewild
May 04 2015 23:27
IDK endocrine knows I am really good at math so they are like whatever, but it's better not to bolus that way, as records are inconsistent...

no need for judging it as better or worse

yeah I never use % basal but I can do that

Like powerline (a device that makes a power outlet into a "wired" internet connection) messes with my already jacked up setup and slows down the internet to where it would drive everyone crazy...so now I can "fix" it...and get the Pi 2 to work
