@bewest Is there a maximum temp basal rate decocare can issue that is lower than what the pump is capable of? Like under 6.375?

Yes, if I set anything at 6.4 or above messes up

Setting a temp of 6.4 is received as 0.0, 6.5 is something like .1

hmm?
temp basal rates larger than 6.4 are corrupted?

It may be just our APS.
Monica said she would test it
In OpenAPS that is

sounds like good bug

6.4 * 40 = 256. Find the extra byte bugs are my favorite!
@scottleibrand have you tried rechargeable AAA's? I know Medtronic pumps back-in-the-day were strict about Energizer-only, but I think that's gotten better?

@loudnate I tried at one point and I recall it drained pretty quick. The chargreables typically have lower voltage than "real" AAAs
If you want superb battery performance on a pump, just get a lithium battery
The only downside is, the pump will warn about the battery dying like 2 hours before it goes

Yeah the voltage profile was always the sticking point. I was surprised to find out it was that much different between normal energizer and Duracell.

The few lithiums I've used lasted about five weeks

That's just passive listening thought right?
And the sentry uploading?
I'm wondering if there is better power management to just listening to the sensor and broadcasts of sentry data? As oppossed the the APS radio operations...

@loudnate no, haven't tried rechargeable batteries. Still using mostly Energizer only AAA. @scottleibrand

@danamlewis Got it. I've been burning through quicker but not running as long/often as you guys. Guess I'll need to up my Subscribe n Save frequency!

The recommended energizer max are usually available in the huge 20+ packs and are pretty cheap. Thinking about it, $1/month for powering a pump isn't all that bad

Wow, my head is spinning. Too much voodoo RF magic to figure out while trying to keep register names straight in my head between platforms. Short names will be the death of me, since C89 31 characters have been available.

You cannot just buy any random rechargeable batteries or battery charger and this article explains why. I would follow the information given in this article carefully and I would always inspect the batteries for signs of corrosion, even neurotically. There is a reason why pump manifacturers say that rechargable batteries "void the warranty". http://blog.codinghorror.com/adventures-in-rechargeable-batteries/
I would do it though. But I would just be careful.
If you basically don't follow those instructions in that article, you will have rapidly discharging batteries that won't last in your pump

Being an electrical engineering student, this is what I would get (most likely to work decently):
  1. Panasonic BK-4HCCA8BA Eneloop Pro AAA New High Capacity 950mAh Typical Ni-MH Pre-Charged Rechargeable Batteries, Pack of 8 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JHKSL0K/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_c9WJvbZMEJ45P
  1. La Crosse Technology BC1000 Alpha Power Battery Charger https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004J6DLD4/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_xcXJvbNJ8P0E9
  1. (Optional item) Storacell Powerpax AAA Battery Caddy, Black, 12-Pack https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00N91QBIW/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_VfXJvb5X22AEN

But yeah that battery charger is also a battery tester too, which is a good thing to have given the discharge rates of rechargable batteries. If you're not careful you can end up with dead batteries fast and you just wasted money.
Yeah about to test temp basal of > 6.4. Just feeling lousy today. 😞

By the way, those items mostly came from my Amazon wish list so I had researched it before...
