@jasoncalabrese, @channemann is correct that I've had the same problem. Any progress on a path forward? Did you by any chance try to install a watchdog program?

It's probably me, but pi isn't very reliable, first thing i wanted to do was just have the loop run continuously for 2 days, but that isn't as easy as i expected. Both the carelink stick and the WiFi dongle need to be unplugged every one in a while.

@jasoncalabrese once the wifi connects it's fine for me (as is the carelink). I've been ahving problems getting it to automatically connect to my phone hotspot upon leaving the house
previously I had to tell it to connect, and if I walked away from the pi with my phone (e.g. if it was on my desk at work) and it lost connection, it wouldn't reconnect

Just a side note about pumps available, could somebody check if you can get "Dana IIS" with support in US? I think you can get it. By support I mean batteries , reservoirs and others which are axactlly the same as used in "Dana R" which you can import from non US countries.

not sure if you can buy there http://www.sooilusa.com/m4_05.html
I think insurance coverage for consumables is a key

Night #7 looping. Stunningly good results with a large meal and correction bolus late in the evening. Watched as it navigated a pretty steep drop, then backed off on basal to land right in the zone for the entire night.

@ochenmiller re: :point_up: October 7, 2015 12:44 PM, this will in fact work. We have multiple confirmed x23 models with 2.4A looping (sorry I'm a bit late)
2.5A was the "fix"
A 523 or 723 with 2.4A or lower is a magical device as it can both work with openaps and with RileyLink
They're just tough to find

It's exciting to see something being developed that actually improves care.
vs. yet another patented insulin that does almost exactly what the previous formulation does.
I wonder how much this group has contributed to the FDA's "we want to see APSs target the pediatric population" comments.

somewhat, but that was a more general point: as soon as something is approved, it will be used in kids. so they want it tested in kids too.
stayce was very specific about that when she announced it at ADA

It's still exciting to see the market jumping on them. I just wish the commercial options looked like they'd be hackable. The flexibility of an open design keeps sounding more and more appealing.

@scottleibrand Sorry for late answer of your questions. We (oschumac/holgi13) work at the time with a mix from Master and parts of Dev. Max _iob = 4, max_basal = 6, by the way - night #4 looping work perfect. Meal dual bolus in the evening goes near target area, so aps work perfect.

@bewest we tested a european version of the "Dana R" pump via BT perfect. So this is the next new pump to work with openAPS. A proposal for you, we could buy a new European Dana R with BT for you and would send them to the US?

hmmm, just trying to think through how to do it
I can send money to you or someone I guess?
or should I try ordering directly?
do you know which supplies I would need to try using it?
probably wouldn't use it immediately
but would need to be able to boot it up and get enough history in it to work with it

Oct 08 2015 20:55
@bewest please talk to oschumac he has tested the connection via BT. So you can used the Dana now. I have the original android app for you, I can send it via email :smile: all the other parts for a Dana US pump, like reservoir or batteries you can buy in the USA?
AdrianLxM
@AdrianLxM
Oct 08 2015 20:57
@bewest, you cannot order the pump online at the shop I know in Germany. You need to be instructed in how to use it. Either a rep will do so, or your endo. Ordering the pump directly won't work. But ordering the rest (batteries, ...) should.

@bewest did you try sooil-usa for supplies ? That would be much cheaper
Ben West
@bewest
Oct 08 2015 21:11
hmm, that could be good option
ok, so I'll need someone to get training for it in germany first?
Lori
@LoriLori
Oct 08 2015 21:11
as said, Dana IIS is distributed in US, thus should be supply too
Ben West
@bewest
Oct 08 2015 21:11
and should really focus on bare minimum, so mainly the pump
Lori
@LoriLori
Oct 08 2015 21:11
no, you don't , got my omni without it
Ben West
@bewest
Oct 08 2015 21:11
because I should be able to get supplies from their us supplier
Lori
@LoriLori
Oct 08 2015 21:12
should check US supplier too
and it's not just about driver @holgi13 , its more in openaps-js
and dana only has relative basal
and basal is delivered in different way on dana then on medtronic
@bewest just when inquiring pump in Germany, tell them it is replacement of pump you used
best would say you were trained on pump , that is all they typically ask
in case I could ask locally , they don't have e-shop
would like to put some $ in bucket for you too Ben
Milos Kozak
@MilosKozak
Oct 08 2015 21:20
:( damn rule you have to wait 4 years for new pump
Lori
@LoriLori
Oct 08 2015 21:20
and dana does have temp history just how long, not how much, needs to store somewhere confirmed temp basal commands
and based on stored commands history create actual history, so far my idea how I will proceed with history issues
