going to try running the pi with a cable and take the wifi dongle out, seems that both the carelink and wifi dongle go out at the same time
maybe need to wipe the pi or something, too bad wifi and bluetooth aren't built in

how are you powering the pi?

By the way  what is the best power bank for the pi ???

I have fewer problems when it's wired to powered usb hub (plugged into wall)

@bewest another prob is the right position of the CareLink in bed?

hmm sort of, yeah
signal comes best directly out the back face of the stick
so arranging the stick/body so the back of stick is pointed towards pump is best
I've got it hung from a lamp that's on a flexible arm, so it's pretty close to me
just pull the lamp in and turn it off ;-)

looks like the 10000mah battery will get us better than 24 hours run time on the RPi, even with the WiFi on.

I'd say that's unlikely given my experiences with a 5200 mAh battery
which gets me maybe 11 hours

ok, rebooting pi resets stick :-)

here are more details on my git corruption https://gist.github.com/bewest/35cb128a55dea6fb2ea3
I've tried resetting to before the commit with the missing blob, followed by wiping the reflog
then I pruned and aggressively gc'd the repo
and still... the corruption remains... which is surprising

oh...
there we go
hmm
Ben West

Oct 10 2015 19:47
fixed
hmmm, should probably add this to the docs, but I HIGHLY recommend putting each device on it's own branch after initializing/syncing configs
eg, use master just to sync config

Glad @bewest is running into all the same issues I did. :-)

yeah, I think openaps report invoke can be a little more gentle about tracking differences
which should help
also, getting better idea of needed sanity checks... thinking for monitor phase, it needs to be broken up into "find devices", "audit evices"
the iftt notify tool is neat example, goes long way towards "find device"
I've been reducing the branches down to dev to plan for release
for openaps-js, there's an only-js branch or similar... how does it relate to dev?
would be nice to reduce it down to dev, then we'll cut release to master and publish to npm
then we can rename it to oref0 :-)

git rebase is awesome
now that I have a fixed branch that's truncated
I can rebase a new one without the bad commits and then remerge it back in
with some substantial juggling
so I'll only lose 3 commits I think
out of 741
takes awhile on the pi...

js-only is the last snapshot of my dev branch before you started rearranging everything, with the shell stuff pulled out (to openaps-sh)
your attempted merge broke our loop.sh, badly
Dana had several lows as a result
so I want to be a lot more careful getting moved over to your new and better stuff
once that's done we can merge js-only back into dev
mostly my fault for not being more careful about my git pull

alright! got it back
success
restored all but 4 commits

so https://github.com/bewest/openaps-example/commits/wip/PI?page=4 shows what my bedtime/mobile rig tries to do
it clearly needs a "reboot if stick is not working"
I also think an "abort if model is not found" tool will be nice

I'm thinking we update fix-dead-carelink to try all the known USB-reboot /sys/devices and then do a full reboot if it can't find one (and it can tell there's a Carelink stick actually plugged in that's not working)

need another tool to report output of uname -a and lsb_release -a also

Everyone should have @reboot in their bash shell script. That way OpenAPS starts back up immediately after restarting.
But nothing like being sick for the past few days. It is sure a drag. ****ing autoimmune autonomic ganglionopathy/neuropathy.

But yeah being told you have "diabetes complications" for 4 years (but you always were suspicious it was "something else") then none of your doctors knowing
What to do with you....then being tested for a rare autoimmune disease. Then them being like "just kidding you don't have diabetes complications....you have a rare disease". That will screw with your mind.
I seriously thought I was going to die from my diabetes, cause the autonomic neuropathy was affecting my heart and it was unmanageable for my doctors.
At age 22. 26 now. Now I have a hard time taking crap seriously sometimes...
Going to try to work on OpenAPS or something now...

@ochenmiller @cjo20 I reckon I would get close to or exceed 24h with my 10400 mAh Xiaomi battery. I base this on going for about 12h and just going to 2/4 bars. http://www.mi.com/en/pb10400/ , rpi with carelink and wifi plugged in. It is quite a nice battery pack, allows charging whilst powering the rpi. I think there is a newer more compact 10000 mAh version as well.

Careful there are lots of knock offs around (funny when you think of Xiaomi's rep), and the knock offs are apparently nowhere near as good.

@johnmales it will probably die before the last bar is empty due to the voltage dropping

There's ones that beat the Xaiomi on Amazon.
See: [Qualcomm Certified] Aukey Quick Charge 2.0 10400mAh Portable External Battery Fast Charger (16.2W / 5V 9V 12V Supported, Quick Charge Input and Output) - Silver https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UBDI7EC/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_HyAgwb700C8RY
I have looked into it. A lot.
