@jasoncalabrese I have an very excellent tutorial on configuring a 3G USB stick on the raspberry Pi. Will pull it up for you after dinner. 😍
@jasoncalabrese : here is the tutorial I was talking about

But anyway I am going to have to do something like that above tutorial for #VirtualPancreas. I'm too tired to work on #VirtualPancreas tonight: I had a BG of 28 and no CGM (still) and that did me in and I am super tired...

hotspot wifi keeps dropping on the pi, so I'm using ninja mode https://github.com/jasoncalabrese/indy/releases/tag/2015-11-18-NINJA-MODE

Was the top one in the list on amazon, has a teal plug
Network has been OK for the last hour so I've been looping, but have to unplug the WiFi dongle every one in a while
Was starting to sit a little script to enter the last 3 BGs, but ninja nice was easier

I have a friend on a Medtronic 751 (looks like 2010 era) and it looks like the version is 1.1F...are we talking a totally different firmware setup here? Thoughts on whether this would work? I'm going to still see if I can talk to it.

Sounds like she had a 522 and then got this one right after...I'm going to have her swing by in the next couple of days and see if I can communicate with it.

@logichammer neat. what geography are you, btw?
All - two things. 1) There's now a dev branch of openaps docs where you can target PRs moving forward. 2) we just merged my big re-org (#35 in docs) from dev to master . Will work with @channemann on resolving merge conflicts for his #36 that has some more improvements/edits (like a TOC so we aren't solely relying on a gitbook build for easy nav/seeing what's there). So if you are stuck/have been stuck and hadn't taken a look at dev in the past couple of days, master may help now (no more "blank page" for phase 3 & 4).

@jasoncalabrese Jason - really nice job on you loop that waits for the blood sugar data to be updated. I really like the way you have done it. I'm curious how you set that up in your crontab. Do you just run it every 5 minutes? If no new blood sugar comes in and another loop is kicked off by the crontab, does that cause you an issue?

If no new BG comes in, it will get killed off and a new one will start with next cron run. That could continue with no action as long as BG doesn't update, but will will resume with the next BG.
if preflight fails (no pump comms) it will skip the waiting.

openaps alias add retry-loop '! bash -c "openaps wait-loop || until( ! mm-stick warmup || ! openaps preflight || openaps loop); do sleep 10; done; openaps preflight && openaps upload"'
openaps alias add loop '! bash -c "openaps preflight && openaps gather && openaps enact"'

It's working pretty good, I want to optimize it since to not fetch all the settings each loop
There's a cron to kill old openaps processes

In the example above you'd need to make sure glucose is pulled in with gather, but then it would be fine 2 times do it do a single report in loop
*done 2 times

Just scrolling back over the traffic for the last couple days
See there’s some discussion of Raspberry Pis and batteries etc
My suggestion is to wait a little bit to see if the Edison is a viable alternative with the carelink alternative hardware
(See the ps2/rileylink channel for chat about that)

I’m busy installing one now in the hopes that I can give decent battery lifetime estimates. However, my last set of testing (with a 6600mAh battery) had the edison running with wifi and with radio comms for 38 hours on a 6600mAh battery. That’d mean that the recommended 9000mah tecknet battery would run for 55h
You don’t need a high-power-output battery either
