hi everyone. It has been a while since the last time I posted a question to the forum. My closed loop is going great. My charts are "greener" and definitively nights and morning are under much better control. I have two questions: 1) I still struggle with highs during day time, and I want to try out the meal assist and auto sensitivity. How can I move my openaps instance to the dev instance (all the documentation points to the master branch). 2) I am also looking at the Edison port. My first step is to have a replica of my raspberry instance, then experiment with the Bluetooth and the TI stik for increase coverage. I am getting errorts just trying to read the pump model using the carelink. Is the installation script still the same for the Edison or am I way off track here?

after the initial edison setup, everything works just like the pi, for the TI stick and Edison you'll use mmeowlink, lots of great info on the wiki https://github.com/oskarpearson/mmeowlink/wiki

first
take a backup of your existing rig: git tag backup-$(date +%F)
and:
openaps import -l | while read type; do openaps $type show --json; done | json -g | tee complete-loop-backup.json

@rafaelmatuk

let me try that - openaps on my edison works somehow - I can have it respond with versions, status, but as long as I try any command it fails. I pushed my rig to bitbucket and pulled back into the edison, so, to my knowledge, I have the rig replicated - but not the software itself...I may be missing something else...
just read something on the wiki: the carelink doesn't work with the Edison)
I guess that may be part of the issue
any advise on my item 1)?

You need TI for edison
Ben West
@bewest
May 05 2016 00:49
I highly recommend TI stick
it's game changer
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
May 05 2016 00:50
For meal assist, you'll have to be entering carbs regularly via the pump or NS
Ben West
@bewest
May 05 2016 00:50
for updating and doing auto-sens, I recommend starting by taking backup, the import -l snippet will back up entire rig in single json file
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
May 05 2016 00:50
So would confirm you are willing to do that before you enable
rafaelmatuk
@rafaelmatuk
May 05 2016 00:51
of course - I count carbs every single time I eat...so is fairly accurate
ordering the Ti stick now
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
May 05 2016 00:52
Counting is one thing, entering consistently is another :)
rafaelmatuk
@rafaelmatuk

some people do it every time :-)
I've been doing it for years in anticipation of this/having the data
rafaelmatuk
@rafaelmatuk
May 05 2016 00:52
same here...consistency is the trick
just the discipline of maintaining the rig I feel has helped me
so - confirmed. I will enter carbs consistently.

hi all, I am implementing 'auto-sens' (http://openaps.readthedocs.io/en/dana-dev/docs/walkthrough/phase-6/Configure-Automatic-Sensitivity-Mode.html). I see the opportunity to include a 'meal.json' report but I don't believe I have seen how to generate it. thanks

That is from oref0-meal
It enables a feature called Meal Assist.

DanaR is an option, right?
Matthias
@ceben80
May 05 2016 04:49
Yes....but my Vibe which is dust :smile: is to new to get a new pump from my insurance at this moment, must wait at least further 3 years, we will see and wait....
For emergency I have a 712 :wink:
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
May 05 2016 04:50
Vibe wasn't under warranty?
Matthias
@ceben80
May 05 2016 04:56
Usually depends on the insurance you'll get a new one every 4 years, my Vibe is 1 year old
Unfortunally 1 year ago I didn't know anything about openAPS, otherwise I would certainly running with a danaR, but my 754 2.6A is in a technical good condition :wink:
Now I'll start the fathers day here in Germany - Cheers

@ceben80 good morning . graph looks great :sun_with_face:
Is there a working OpenAPS with DanaR ? I got lost in the files and thought is not done yet
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
May 05 2016 05:26
Check out the HAPP channels for discussion of that.
There is a WIP HAPP driver for the DanaR, and someone has made their own separate app too. Not sure if either are published yet though.
They are following the OpenAPS reference design AFAIK, and HAPP in particular uses a port of oref0.

I'm getting the dead stick error more and more often since I got the TI stick. I try and use the command to fix it, but it doesn't work. I'm using a pi 3. The only thing that's fixed it is rebooting it, but that doesn't work 100% of the time. Nobody else has this issue?

github backup question . Please corect me if i am wrong :sunny:
  1. I create a repository in Github with the same name as my openaps repository on my PI . For example mine is Bulgaria , it has to be the same on github.com or i can name the repository as i want ?
  2. Create it and Copy the clone link ( do i need to initialize this repository with Readme?)
  3. make directory on my new pi. write “copy clone (url)” or "git pull"?
  4. If everything above is successfull where do i have to make this .gitignore file with “pump_name.ini” so my pump serial number is hidden ?
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
May 05 2016 14:21
Probably better to push the existing git repo on your rig up, rather than cloning the new empty one.
Hristina Dimova
@xpucuto
May 05 2016 14:21
aha ok so i will run git push , right?
There are lots of good non-OpenAPS-specific walkthroughs for stuff like this.

Do you think it'd be better connected via serial?

What do you get when running oref0-reset-usb manually?
pi3 might have a different name for the usb reset device.

@bewest Thanks for your suggestions. I made a plea on reddit/r/diabetes and have a 723 headed my way for a very reasonable price. Should have a new Pi delivered on Friday (my Pi 1 didn't work) Really excited to get going, probably will not be a lot of sleeping going on this weekend. @xpucuto use oref0-reset-git
@inform880 when you do a use command it prints the firmware version first before whatever you asked it to do.

I know we deleted all the git files yesterday, so it's surprising that you're having trouble again

My concern is that you might have a dodgy power supply that's causing filesystem corruption.... (ie - the power rating of the power supply is lower than it should be)
or the actual card might be failing
best to make a copy of all the files in that directory as quickly as you can
if you want to "just get things to work" so that you can push to git, re-follow the commands I gave you yesterday - the git add -A and similar
Hristina Dimova
@xpucuto
May 05 2016 15:37
@oskarpearson everything is working now i always shut it down with -h now but when yesterday my battery died ( its a loan from a friend ) . My new one will come at monday hopefully . And it can be charged while it is charging the pi. Is it normal to hav eonly 2 ini files in the master at github , i expected more :D
Oskar Pearson
@oskarpearson
May 05 2016 15:37
Hmm... yeah that seems surprising
you should have all your files on there
if your git directory is corrupt that might well be the cause

Man I wish i got to pay bills like the insurance company. Get a bill for 2k and pay 350$ can I use that as a formula to pay my co-insurance. Get a bill for 90$ and pay 18% of that.
In other news, Edgepark handled my order of Minimed supplies really fast and I have 4 boxes of sets and cartridges already, and they even got my insurance to pay it, well 18% of what they asked for :)

@oskarpearson
May 05 2016 16:15
@xpucuto You definitely want a copy somewhere else - it'll save you lots of hassle
You can at least copy the files to your desktop machine somewhere
The examples on that page don't show copying multiple files from the pi to your desktop, but the command is sort of as expected:
scp pi@192.168.1.3:your-openaps-directory/* .

quick question for @bewest: trying to understand how decocare works, but I can't seem to initialize communications with my carelink stick... when I run "sudo python decocare/stick.py /dev/ttyUSB0", I get "ACK is 0 bytes"... when I use dmesg, I see the following error: carelink ttyUSB0: usb_serial_generic_write_bulk_callback - nonzero urb status: -71
do you have any idea what I might be doing wrong? i'm very sorry if this was already answered somewhere... I could not find anything

Try open a window again and then type "open ." (The full stop is important)
@mm22dl that might mean you need to unplug and plug in the carelink, if my memory serves me
altenratively you've got it plugged into a usb3 port? The carelink doesn't work with usb3 hardware unfortunately

there are instructions in the docs for backing up an image of the entire SD card
it's not a file copy-paste, though, but a complete byte-for-byte image
your scp just needs a -r flag looks like
that will recursively copy the contents of all those directories that it's complaining about

-r has worked thanks. But no files in this “.” folder after i open it . :s
or it doesnt matter i dont see them , if i can copy them from this “.” folder to the new pi?

@danamlewis for some reason that PR about correcting .git permission problems didn't go through. I'm going to try it now. Could you please check on it?
Hope I did it right this time.
I see it's been merged :smile: - my first PR! Better later than never...
