that image didn't paste large - I think it works if you click on it though
I'm getting an error "could not get current basal rate" when trying to invoke oref0-predict/oref0.json
I have these funky looking basal rates (i.e. 0.700000000000000000000001, 0.950000000000001). I tried resetting my pump rates and it didn't help
wondering if that could be causing this issue or if I'm overlooking something else

your monitor/active-basal-profile.json report or similar from read_selected_basal_profile looks ok?
Hannah Crabtree
@lollydaggle
Jul 16 2016 00:37
oref0-monitor/profile.json contains the correct current basal entry. Right now I have raw-pump/selected-basal-profile --> monitor/selected-basal-profile. monitor/selected-basal-profile was set up in the initial report import as a shell copy of raw-pump/selected-basal-profile. I am wondering if I need to run raw-pump/selected-basal-profile through the TZ device instead
the other person on gitter who had this issue had it caused by something that wouldn't apply to my situation

Jul 16 2016 01:11
Yes, it just really doesn't specify where to download the program to. I wasn't sure if I needed to do that from my laptop of the Pi. But, I figured it was the Pi. I really am learning from the very beginning. I watched the video to install Raspbian on a Pi3 that Scott did, and the lightbulb went on when he had all the different operating systems on different little sd cards. THAT kind of very beginning.
But I like to learn new things.

people who have successfully done nightscout upload - where does entries.json come from? Can I copy and use raw-cgm/glucose-raw.json or is there more to it?
sarahspins
@sarahspins
Jul 16 2016 02:24
entries.json is just an endpoint (it's telling where you want the data uploaded to), and yes, there's more to it to format it correctly...
Hannah Crabtree
@lollydaggle
Jul 16 2016 02:26
lol I admittedly entirely ignored the "pulling blood glucose values from nightscout" section
guess it is relevant for the upload
sarahspins
@sarahspins
Jul 16 2016 02:26
also you need to be sending zoned data to NS, so the raw-cgm/glucose-raw.json data won't work

I was able to upload "missing" data (missing on my phone due to interference, which uploads to share, which is bridged to my NS site) last night and could probably figure out the steps it took to do that, but it's not actually part of my loop yet
I was having internet issues (aka no internet at home yesterday) so I was using my phone as a hotspot and with multiple connections plus the rig running nearby it wasn't picking up much G5 data, but my receiver was
ultimately I plan on just pulling cgm data from my NS site and ditching the receiver, but it was what I needed to work while I was having the phone/internet issue :)

Jul 16 2016 02:39
yes, it can get that way.. I have probably a dozen pi's in the house already, so that's one thing I didn't have to acquire to get started
I'm getting the pi version going before I tackle the harder/smaller stuff, like an edison with a TI stick :)
Pi's seemed plenty small to me until I got the Edison.. that thing is like a postage stamp if you don't count the breakout board :)
RileyLink may even be a possibility if I can figure what to do with LoopKit.. it would be awesome to control things from my phone :)

It looks to me like I can customize the settings for the Pi from my laptop through the command line. Am I understanding that correctly?

From setting up your Raspberry Pi. Is the terminal referred to in these directions the terminal on my Mac?Mac OS X / Linux
Make sure that the computer is connected to the same WiFi router that the RPi2 is using.

Open Terminal and enter this command:

ssh pi@raspberrypi.local

Default password for the user pi is raspberry

@beratkurar if you've been following along with the latest docs, in your openaps directory, you have a directory called "monitor", so;
pi@raspberrypi:~/openaps-20160611/my_openaps/monitor $ ls
battery.json  clock-zoned.json  glucose.json  pumphistory.json        pump-state.json         reservoir.json  temp_basal.json
clock.json    dex_glucose.json  iob.json      pumphistory-zoned.json  recent-treatments.json  status.json
@tatigger can you elaborate on the issue?

It's a minor bug that causes the temp to be set 0.025U/hr lower than intended due to a floating point math rounding issue.

@beratkurar I'm signing off for the night in a minute... I don't know about deleting anything... But my limited understanding is that raw CGM is raw or unprocessed, thus not calibrated, glucose numbers from the CGM and glucose.json is converted numbers .converted to your preferred glucose units

@sarahspins ;

ultimately I plan on just pulling cgm data from my NS site and ditching the receiver, but it was what I needed to work while I was having the phone/internet issue

I went this way too and found ultimately having the loop look for the NS bgs (over wifi) or using the phone as a hotspot pullling from NS or lastly checking for the attached receiver worked best to ensure the aps is getting BGs somehow.
sarahspins
@sarahspins
Jul 16 2016 07:12
@kimstdennis_twitter I'll have to experiment and see what works for me... since I'm already uploading them I already know I 'generally' am places where using cell data isn't a problem... but it may be different running the rig off a hotspot, it's hard to say :)
@beratkurar if you have done it right, the monitor/glucose.json will be zoned - this is important if you inted to use NS for visualization

Chris Oattes
@cjo20

If you set IOB at 0, it will operate in a "low glucose suspend" mode. It will only ever reduce your basal if it thinks you're going to go low

Jul 16 2016 11:10
Are you getting suggestions when you run your loop?
berat
@beratkurar
Jul 16 2016 11:11
I could not start it yet
Last thing I've done is to add oref0 virtual devices and aliases and organizing reports and etc.
We have OS on rpi2 and we have openaps in this OS.
Using openaps we connected rpi2 with pump and cgm.
Now how can I let openaps configure basal rates of the pump using the data that comes from pump and cgm?
Chris Oattes
@cjo20
Jul 16 2016 12:25
So the first step is to get suggestions from openaps. Have you managed to do that?

I'm looking for help debugging what happened last night. I had a quesadilla around 1:30AM and clearly under-bolused it because I spiked to 180 mg/dL around 4AM. But then my loop was able to bring me down to around 50 mg/dL which I woke up at around 9:30 AM.
Do you think this a problem with my active insulin time? I have it set at 3 hours and I'm pretty sure that's accurate, but it seems like my loop was able to accumulate too much insulin in my body between 3AM and ~8AM where it was high temping me.
GabeA23
@GabeA23
Jul 16 2016 16:10
My max_iob is probably a little too high (4 units) but I want my loop to be able to correct overnight highs... just to do it a little more gradually

@jasoncalabrese No, not yet. I'm still technically in phase 5 (I haven't finished the docs yet) but I'm planning on doing that today. I don't really know what ama or autosens entails. But those should address my problem?

@GabeA23 most people don't have that kind of carb activity going on at night, so it's hard to say. It could even be that your carb ratios are off
It also looks like you had a low then a rebound and then 28g
So there might have been some other physiological activity going on
But if you think the loop was able to accumulate too much insulin, then for safety I would consider dropping your max iob, because you shouldn't need it that overnight. There's probably something else going on.
GabeA23
@GabeA23
Jul 16 2016 16:42
@danamlewis Already dropped my max_iob. Also, yes there was a low and rebound around midnight, but then I was steady between 150-180 afterward. And then I dropped ~130 points between 7AM-8:30AM.
It was just a little more rapid than I was expecting because this was my second day looping and day 1 was a lot more smooth.
But it could have been physiological. I didn't each much the day before and I had ~2 alcoholic beverages. Both of those things deplete glycogen stores so that's probably what happened!
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Jul 16 2016 16:43

If you want to run the logs and look at the decision making for each time frame, you can. Otherwise we are all just speculating ;) and that's less helpful without the data to see what info the loop had and why it did what it did

Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Jul 16 2016 16:46

@sarahspins what usually works for me is
c) If you have a failed flash or have problems with the reboot, try starting the console and hitting enter a bunch of times while connecting to stop autoboot. You'll then be at a boot> prompt. Run sudo ./flashall.sh and when it asks you to reboot type and enter run do_flash at the boot> prompt.

I know some people have done it from windows
it took a bunch of tries till I could flash my first edison, also check your cables it's really picky, out of dozens of cables I only had a couple that would work and had to label them
sarahspins
@sarahspins
Jul 16 2016 18:01
I handed it off to my husband to see if he can do it from lubuntu (we happened to have a flash drive already set up for it) and he's claiming he needs to download some 700mb file to do it, which he won't do since our only internet is through hotspots at the moment
I don't know what he's trying to download since the ubilinux download wasn't even that big
I can try different usb cables though, but I already swapped them out once worrying that might have been contributing

then it just sits there forever and eventually the window that the flashall.bat brings up closes out too

oref0-predict/oref0.json needs time-zoned formatted glucose information from your CGM. Do raw-cgm/glucose-raw.json and monitor/glucose.json exist and work (or whatever folders/names they're under)?
monitor/glucose.json is the raw cgm data formatted through the TZ device
Martin Haeberli

Jul 16 2016 20:37
@lollydaggle - at the moment, monitor/glucose.json is [], because our T1 is away from the receiver, and, anyway, I need to read the docs about how to feed CGM data in from Share via Nightscout, not directly from Dexcom - so the report exists but is now empty...

Yep I figured out why the pill wouldn't work using the current walkthrough. @julieraines - you took care of that with your PR? I thought we were supposed to PR to the master branch.
I cannot figure out how to get that cool blue temp basal graph...

@billstackpole - git may have chewed up all your inodes (speaking from recent experience). You can check with a 'df -i' to see what percentage of inodes are free (similar to 'df -h' to see free space)

I seem to have the “cool blue temp basal graph” - but I don’t know which, if any, plugin it’s associated with - I do have enable: “careportal bridge iob cob bwp basal openaps pump" turned on in Azure / NightScout - also, I’m running NightScout dev branch as of maybe 3 weeks ago … I hope that helps - and we’re not live
as in, the loop is not yet configured to close to the real pump

it's basal
you need in enable for the graph to work
if it is, then there is a dropdown
you may need to change what is under "Render Basal" on your NS site

@julieraines you have to PR to master for the docs
Julie

ok - i'll try that (instructions are wrong i think so that can be dealt with later)

@mhaeberli there are some instructions buried in the docs for using "fake" device data to play with the loop

should render basal be default or icicle?
sarahspins
@sarahspins
Jul 16 2016 22:06
whatever you want :)
I like default, icicle hangs from the top and IMO looks weird

OK - thanks! and still don't have the pill for openaps but at least I have what looks like the latest 8.5?
sarahspins
@sarahspins
Jul 16 2016 22:09
is your NS running dev or master?
you need dev for the pill to work, and that should be version 0.9.0-beta3
Julie
@julieraines
Jul 16 2016 22:10
that's exactly the problem i'm having - getting it to run the dev (the instructions don't work)
for me anyway

@sarahspins thanks. This seems to happen once a week... is that normal?
This happened last week and I ended up just re-flashing my edison
there's some info there about adding it to cron as well so that it doesn't get "stuck" when it happens

on another note, I’m wondering how to use this command to set my Dexcom receiver’s time:

openaps use cgm UpdateTime —to <what>

(“now” doesn’t seem to work - what formats are preferred for this time value?) by contrast with

openaps use pump set clock —to now

that worked (as I’m sure you know) to set Dexcom “display” time. Dexcom “system” time is offset from that and does not appear to have been set by UpdateTime .. I wonder why?
