I'm still getting some errors, but with the retries it works pretty good, I want to start using jq so I can pull less from dex each loop

We have a TSlim but I'm working on the loop for nighttime with an old minimed. We will swap out at night using compatible infusion sets. Something to consider if you have a pump that won't work in the loop.
Ben West
@bewest
Jul 23 2016 02:03
you can still use it to set up everything except the set_temp_basal
so if you get one that is available, you can just swap it out and enable that one step
until then, you'd have unified data in real time
Julie
@julieraines
Jul 23 2016 02:05
Unified data in real time - hadn't thought of that. Extremely cool
John Freeman
@Fusioncld_twitter
Jul 23 2016 02:05
so the set_temp_basal is the only function that won't work on the 751?
Martin Haeberli
@mhaeberli
Jul 23 2016 02:06
@Fusioncld_twitter in our experience, set_time, for example, doesn’t work either (or whatever the command is really called - I forget)
Ben West
@bewest

none of the "control" commands will work
all of the "read" commands still wor just fine
sarahspins
@sarahspins
Jul 23 2016 02:41
@julieraines I thought of doing that, but now that I'm looping there's no way I'd want to swap back and forth (plus I seem to be in the minority of patients who need WAY more insulin on the t:slim... not sure what's up with that) :+1:

I hear ya. I'm just taking it slow. Seeing how it goes. If all is well, we can convert during the day, but I would have to set up an Edison and I'm just not techno savvy enough with this to start there so I'm going to work up to it slowly. Hopefully by then I can do it with the TSlim - this is all for my 12 year old daughter named Sarah by the way

@scottleibrand / @jasoncalabrese / @bewest --

I have mentioned in the past that when we go backpacking / places without internet, the APS will work for a few hours and then just stop working...so finally went into the woods...with a router and figured out what is going on:

BG data is too old, or clock set incorrectly. Your CGM time is Fri Jul 22 2016 20:12:59 GMT-0700 (PDT) but your system time is Fri Jul 22 2016 19:30:00 GMT-0700 (PDT)

The pi loses time pretty fast...over two hours, it lost like 45 minutes and this is a known issue for the pi. Do folks install a Real World Clock or use a software hack like this:
https://mindplusplus.wordpress.com/2015/01/12/getting-a-time-without-ntp-2/

Glad to have found out what is going on...and going to find a fix for it...

@logichammer I use this on start up, and run all day at work offline, sometimes it hangs but i have not suspected timing with mine.... https://github.com/openaps/oref0/blob/master/bin/clockset.sh

OK as the pi user and added to cron:

The MM pumps have a RTC in them that can be queried with the mm-set-rtc.py command. Should be good enough to set Pi's RTC a few times an hour if in the boonies.

@bewest How do I

To test this: openaps use ns shell preflightIt should return “True”

To get a good list of aliases:

curl -sg https://gist.githubusercontent.com/bewest/d3db9ca1c144b845382c885138a8f66e/raw/181c5d6f29cd6489ecc9630786cf2c4937ddde79/bewest-aliases.json > bewest-aliases.json

nano bewest-aliases.json and make sure that the script references the report names that you created. If not, change the report names to the names that you set up.

What report names do I compare them to?:)

@bewest when i type in curl -sg nothing happens, just tells me to do -h

Good morning everyone! I'm planning our next rig and feeling perplexed by the ERF Stick. Any suggestions for a firmware writing newbie on how to get one of these boards? I see they are discontinued here: https://www.rapidonline.com/ciseco-r003-erf-radio-module-with-ftdi-compatible-port-73-4837
Looks like WirelessThings.net stopped selling them. What's the easiest alternative to use with an Edison?
And while I'm throwing out questions... Is there a site or some links that list other rig designs? I see those discussions here a lot, but I have not had much luck searching this board.

So, I get that error of profile.json not exists. So then I command line: openaps report invoke profile.json, iob.json and then main loop works again. What might be causing this error? Have others experienced this when changing the rig to run with G5 instead of G4?
Scott Leibrand

@Aaybob you should be invoking the profile.json report in your loop at some point so it does that automatically

@flutelynne_twitter Thanks! Hmm, so does it have to be under Windows? It seems like it is nominally supposed to work under Mac OS X as well.
Lynne Butts

Jul 23 2016 20:41
Well, the carelink to upload to the medtronic site (their version) will be on IE. Which, I believe, is a Windows thing. But if you look at the medtronic website, there is something that you might be able to order to have it work with a Mac. BUT to use OpenAPS, you can use a Mac or Windows to set up your RPi, and the carelink should work.

@flutelynne_twitter - while I haven’t tried CareLink USB stick under openaps on Mac OS “El Capitan” - there are a lot of reasons why I believe that it is unlikely to work - as I recall, some magic about El Capitan USB drivers having irrevocably moved forward. Docs suggest TI Stick mmeowlink would work under Mac OS including El Capitan, but I have not myself tested ...
Eric Jensen
@elnjensen
Jul 23 2016 21:08
Thanks, @mhaeberli - glad to hear that that fact that it didn't work under El Capitan doesn't necessarily mean that it's dead. Will know soon, and if works, then I'll add a note to the docs about this issue.

Oh. thanks. My 515 used carelink with the rpi2, but the TI stick wouldn't talk to it. I got a 722 that works with the TI stick, but have the 515/carelink as my backup. Before I knew much of anything, I did use my Windows notebook and IE to get the stick to read, but I am not sure if that is even necessary to set up any acct. with MedT.
