Working on my Edison setup. I'd like to lower the profile of the board a bit, so I'm thinking of cutting off the J1 pins (thermistor jumper) and the J21 pins (external 7-15 V DC). I'm powering from an external LiIon battery through J2, using an Adafruit charging board. My question is about the J1 pins - should I jumper those or not? (or rather, solder the contacts together if I cut the pins off). I can't quite follow the docs about the thermistor. My external charging board does not have a thermistor (though there's a slot for one). I'll be charging at 500 mA, or could even step down the charging current if that might be an issue (though I suspect 500 mA is fine).

I'm currently using the same Adafruit charger with my Edison (after my experience toasting an Edison by directly connecting a sketchy LiPo to J2 and using the onboard charger). I've left J1 as-is, so if you want to remove it, you should replace it with a solder bridge or wire jumper across those pins.

Thanks, @ecc1 !
This should only be an issue when charging, right? Not when running (assuming not also connected to the charger at the same time).

Can anyone point me to where I find more documentation on the nightscout tools in openaps? I'm struggling to go beyond the specific examples given. My usual approaches of (a) searching the on-line docs, and (b) using -h with the command aren't helping much, since openaps use ns -h just tells me that shell is the next argument I need, and openaps use ns shell -hjust tells me that I need an oper and a remainder, but doesn't tell me what the options are.
In particular, at the moment I'm trying to figure out how format-recent-history-treatments decides what is "recent", i.e. how much to upload, and how to get it to look farther back if needed.
But I'd also like to just see / understand the full set of command options, but can't find them anywhere.

Hi there, would anybody be able to help me figure out sending glucose date to Nightscout? I have the recent-missing-entries report, but when I try to invoke, it just says 'No JSON object could be decoded'
lmaguire

Sep 13 2016 02:36
Also, the output says the it 'Can't compare offset-naive and offset-aware datetimes'. I understand that it has something to do with the timezones, but that's as far as my knowledge goes. Has anybody run into this problem before?

Should one amend crony ab with ti stick ton periodically run mmtune? How do you do that exactly, if so?
Eric Jensen
@elnjensen
Sep 13 2016 03:06
@lmaguire You'll need to add timezone info to your monitor/glucose.json report, creating a new report called something like monitor/glucose-zoned.json; then you can try feeding that to your Nighscout report. @davidkeddydb just went through this last night, so if you scroll back about 24 hours you can look at some of our discussion there and see if that helps. And David might be able to share how he defined his report.
The command should be something like openaps use tz rezone --date system_time --date display_time monitor/glucose.json but it will depend a bit on where you are getting your glucose values from and how they are already formatted.
Sorry not to help more right now - need to get some sleep! :sleeping:

Hoping someone can help me with a quick cron issue. I have a functional alias "do-everything" that works perfectly when i run it manually. I used the cron-5-minute-helper to create a cron which appears to be running every Five minutes however it is not generating the reports and suggested.json file that i get when I run my "do-everything" alias manually. My cron looks like this SHELL=/bin/bash
PATH=/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/local/games:/usr/games
/5 * (cd /home/pi/mitch && time openaps do-everything ) 2>&1 | logger -t openaps-loop
SHELL=/bin/bash
PATH=/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/local/games:/usr/games
  • /5 (cd /home/pi/mitch && time openaps do-everything ) 2>&1 | logger -t openaps-loop
asterisks are not rending properly but time is not the issue as i can see via grep CRON /var/log/syslog that the cron is running every 5 minutes. any ideas why the reports and suggested.json files are not being generated when using automation?

Our 715 WW v2.3 pump has been looping fine on the desk for a good week now - fed with NS-data. It looks like the basals are quite right, but since it is not connected who knows... Bolus wizard is not working (BG reported as mmol*10, ie removes decimal). My daughter uses the Omnipod, so I'm not sure I can get her to try it - maybe at nights for a few days - have to fix the bolus wizard first. The hardest part was to get the NS-data, not that good documented. Also uploading with cron was not easy - documentation lacked info that NS-info had to be in the crontab file. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/24731481/openaps2.jpg

@christerjensen what sensor do you use, dex, enlite, Libre?
@christerjensen I also intend to use openAPS just with NS, I use Libre Sensor with xDrip+, I'm also omnipod user but for openaps I bought the 522 which I'll get this week.
Christer Jensen
@christerjensen
Sep 13 2016 07:26
@libxmike We use Dexcom G4. Parakeet and a few Wixels in the house captures G4 data and is processed with xDrip+. Do you plan to use both at first for testing (turn off basal on the Omnipod at night?)
Mike
@libxmike
Sep 13 2016 07:33
@christerjensen to turn off basal on the Omnipod was my first idea but I'm not sure yet, I'm new to openAPS, first have to learn how to use/deal with it and still have to build a rig for it with Pi Zero, have few of it
Christer Jensen
@christerjensen
Sep 13 2016 07:36
@libxmike The Omnipods lowest basal is 0.05 units/hour - might be better to temp the basal to 0.00 units/hour for 10 hours temporarly for testing. My idea was to ask my daughter to test the openAPS for 3 nights (remove the tube at daytime). Now the algorithm is working I hope we some day can crack the Omnipod.

Christer Jensen
@christerjensen
Sep 13 2016 07:56
@libxmike I first pulled data from Dexcom G4 by USB cable, and had problems switching to pulling them from NS. Had to set up a new report where the BG entries were stored. I think there are some parts missing in the documentation - might be intentional so you should figure it out yourself. https://openaps.readthedocs.io/en/latest/docs/walkthrough/phase-1/using-openaps-tools.html#pulling-blood-glucose-levels-from-nightscout

@christerjensen thanks! which parts are missing?
Christer Jensen
@christerjensen
Sep 13 2016 08:12
@libxmike As far as I remember it was making and invoking a report with the glucose values from NS. It is stated how you do it for a G5, and you have two tweek this to make a similar report with NS data. I don't have access to my rig right now - but have a look at how glucose-raw.jsonis invoked for the G5, you have to pull data into a similar report from NS. This section gives the G5 directions you have to apply also for NS - https://openaps.readthedocs.io/en/latest/docs/walkthrough/phase-1/using-openaps-tools.html#g5-support

Apologies if this is off-topic, but as a stepping-stone to my loop project in Go, I ended up with a tool I've found useful: https://github.com/ecc1/backfill
It checks your Nightscout DB for gaps, and fills them in with data from your Dexcom receiver. It's very fast if the receiver is connected by USB, and tolerable if it's using BLE. There's not much documentation beyond the help message it prints, but I'll be happy to help anyone who wants to try it.
Christer Jensen
@christerjensen
Sep 13 2016 15:07
@danamlewis It was clear how to pull data from NS in the section "Pulling blood glucose levels from Nightscout" but I did have some trouble getting the data into the openaps algorithm. When I look at it again, it's better described for the G5 in a previous chapter - I used that to help me along.

Sep 13 2016 18:42
@MilosKozak I think you need to play some worst case scenarios and set the max values that way, assuming you are setting this for 1 T1D, otherwise like @cjo20 said you could have radically different number for different T1D's and that would be normal.
@christerjensen Let me know if you make a PR as I would love to follow it. I couldn't get the NS pull for the G4 so I just stuck with the carelink usb for the meantime until I can go back and figure it out.

ok, so it will require some modifications to support G5. probably just running the g5-specific commands in the newly created loop dir after the script

And for reference, how about working with enlite?

(until we update the script to support G5)
to support enlite we'd need someone with enlite to make the appropriate modifications to the script-generated loop and export those
@PieterGit those should be supported by the oref0-setup script

one other thing is you have to clone the repository source (dev branch): it doesn't run directly from the packaged versions yet.

with carelink you leave that argument off
PieterGit
@PieterGit
Sep 13 2016 22:21
then max_iob should be specified earlier i guess
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Sep 13 2016 22:22
I think you can specify "" for the tty argument if you need to specify max_iob with carelink
but if not, you can always change max_iob manually in preferences.json afterward

@elodaille01_twitter how did you configure the CGM? Did you follow the G5 directions or the G4 ones? You may need to delete the CGM device and re-do that part.
