So I'm trying to get the ThisButton to work correctly with the IFTTT, everything works correctly on the Do Button on the phone, but I can't get the ThisButton to work correctly. I do have my Maker Key in the settings correct. But the settings does say something about needing to have an additional DO Channel. What is everyone using for that? and do you have to have a recipe made for that one?

not sure if anyone else has had any significant difficulty flashing jubilinux on edison from imac. Tried so many things. Yet I can easily flash ycto via intel board configuration tool without incident...it's not the flashing that's the issue---I think it's the inability to modify /etc/network/interfaces via screen terminal.

Is there a way to make NS stop auto-refreshing? My loop left me at ~200 all night and I’m trying to find out why, but every time I scroll back in NS, after a few seconds it refreshes and I lose my place.
Also, how do I get Pushover to NOT alert me when my BG is high? I’ve got ALARM_HIGH and ALARM_URGENT_HIGH set to off and I thought that’s what did it...
Paul Martin
@Spazholio
Oct 19 2016 11:26
And - since I’m asking lots of questions anyway - how do I override maxSafeBasal? What do I modify in the preferences.json?
Paul Martin
@Spazholio
Oct 19 2016 11:37
And on a more general note, I’m noticing that when if I start to go high at night, the loop never really manages to bring me down. I don’t know if it won’t high-temp enough, or what’s going on, but I’d like to find out, and I’m uncertain where to look, really. I hung out around in the 200s all night last night, steadily climbing all night, and that’s definitely not good. Wouldn’t hate it if someone were to take a quick look at my NS install and maybe throw some ideas my way...

Your preferences don't have max_iob set to 0 do they? It sounds like you're in Predictive low glucose suspend mode.
Paul Martin
@Spazholio
Oct 19 2016 11:43
Nope, it’s set to 10. And seeing as how it barely set any temps last night, pretty sure that wasn’t the issue, but I can check.
(if the damned NS would stop refreshing, argh)
Yeah, it wasn’t coming anywhere close to my max_iob.
Paul Martin
@Spazholio
Oct 19 2016 11:55

@Spazholio here u go : with oref0 dev you can do oref0-get-profile --updatePreferences preferences.json > preferences.json.new to populate the .new file with the defaults for all the preferences values you don't have set, and then adjust the max_daily_safety_multiplier and current_basal_safety_multiplier a bit higher.
or oref0-get-profile --exportDefaults > preferences.new.json if you don't already have one
Paul Martin

I see a lot of people having issue flashing jubilinux. I've had no issue doing it on windows. use @diabeticgonewild youtube videos and the only difference is that the file is jubilinux.zip so you don't really need to make a directory for it, and use unzip julilinux.zip instead of the tar command. Now granted, I've done this on two Edisons that already had Ubilinux on them, so they would not show up as drives on windows (to check if the drivers were installed), but it was a very simple process and for me much easier to complete than how I was doing Ubilinux with a raspberry pi.

For me, the flashing was the worst part of OpenAPS setup on the Edison. I'm an electrical engineering student (so familiar with Linux and programming) and worked at Geek Squad for almost 3 years. That almost proves that the Edison flashing process for Ubi/Jubi is flaky in and of itself. I created those videos as it was important to have a reliable source for flashing.

@scottleibrand I’ll have to dig into that. My levels are good now, but I’m still really curious why my levels never went down ALL last night. If someone - anyone - wouldn’t mind taking a look at my NS instance and maybe trying to shed some light, I’d definitely be appreciative. This seems to happen a lot - if I go to bed with a decent set of numbers, it’ll make the little adjustments to keep me good, but if it’s high right after I go to sleep (200-ish) and I’ve eaten carbs or “bad food” right before bed, it tends to stay there and seems like it’s not doing what it should. It’s odd.

I have no idea what autosens is calculating, honestly. I just checked the logs, and the suggested ISF change isn’t recorded there. Might not be a bad idea to throw that in there somehow. =)
@diabeticgonewild Well, like I said, I ate “bad food” a few hours before bed (in my case, peanut butter) but I thought I had it under control. I think I ate if about 3-4 hours and I had a rise, but I gave a good amount of insulin, and was at 170mg/dL at bedtime. But it went steadily up throughout the night. It SHOULD have been brought down, but NS is showing that most of the night there was no temping.

@garykidd I had some trouble flashing jubilinux as well from the Mac. Several problems in fact but once I got through them it works well. I have had a similar problem with using the nano editor to edit files logged into the edison console via screen after flashing. The way I got around this was to do the flashing on the Mac, then shut down and hook the edison up to a raspberry pi, connect via screen and do subsequent editing that way until I could get network configured then ssh to connect to edison subsequently. Weird work around, but it worked.

@scottleibrand @ecc1 (and others) - Was the greater-than-6.3u/hr issue such that if a temp basal was supposed to be set higher than 6.3u/hr, it would set NO basal at all? I’ve adjusted my max basal rates below the threshold so I don’t think the issue will recur, but I’m just trying to wrap my head around what happened last night.

Hey dumb question for everyone. Just getting started. Setup Nightscout but wondering if I need to worry about using Android which is required if I want to send raw data to Nightscout for an eventual closed loop, or can I use iOS (without raw data in play). Intention is to use G4 Share -> Pi -> Rileylink -> Medtronic Pump
So basically, does the Pi get its data from the G4 Receiver directly, or does it need Nightscout’s data?
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Oct 19 2016 20:05
You can do either. If receiver is plugged in to Pi, can pull data that way (and do it offline). You can also hotspot and pull data from NS in case your receiver is not plugged in for some reason.
Kevin Marshall
@ruess
Oct 19 2016 20:06
Gotcha @danamlewis
Can the Pi talk to the G4 Share receiver via bluetooth or does it need to be literally plugged in?
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Oct 19 2016 20:08
There is openxshareble, but we haven’t found that to be super reliable. So if you’re going to be rolling with a Pi, it’s fairly easy to just plug your cgm in. If you don’t want to plug in, just hotspot or have your Pi on wifi to pull BGs down from NS.
David Young
@wgs4
Oct 19 2016 20:12
OpenXshareable is for bluetooth direct to CGM correct?
Paul Martin
@Spazholio

David Young
@wgs4
Oct 19 2016 20:36
@Spazholio How to I configure OpenAPS to talk to a USB connected G4 ?
Paul Martin
@Spazholio
Oct 19 2016 20:41
I haven’t done it in forever, because I need it maybe less than 1% of the time. @danamlewis Does the new setup script allow for a connected G4? I never checked.
David Young
@wgs4
Oct 19 2016 20:41
So the wireles communication is generally sufficient and not worth going down the rabbit hole?
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Oct 19 2016 20:42
Yep. Make sure your G4 is plugged in ;) and use the setup scripts
If you haven’t set up in forever…try the setup scripts. If you’re not sure…try the setup scripts. It won’t hurt anything current you have running (but do comment out cron of any setups you don’t want running at the same time), and worst case you can poke through it and see if you want to change your current setup, even if you decide you don’t like the configuration from the setup scripts.

@Spazholio I just ordered my first Edison, and it arrived today. I plan to use a 915MHz Explorer board with it. How do I communuicate with my Edison to put software on it? I did not order a kit, just the module itself. Do I need the starter kit to get linux and OpenAPS on the Edison?

If you just got the Edison, you need something else to interface with it - breakout board, Sparkfun board, or (very soon now) the Explorer board.

@scottleibrand @danamlewis as I await the Explorer board, I decided to do a totally fresh start of the Edison. I flashed to Jubilinux and then used setup script.

Unfortunately, it didn't go to plan.
Mostly I seem to be having problems with NS process. It seems to download without a issue, but up doesn't seem to work

I have earlier had problems with carbs and monitor/carbhistory.json, but not cracking it today. I enter carbs on pump, so shouldn't need to get it from NS. Have been messing around

@Spazholio So if I have an Explorer board and the Edison, that is all I need to load software? I can wait for an Explorer board if that is the case.

I believe so, yes.

@wgs4 yes that is the case. If you have the Edison chip only, you are stuck for now
@scottleibrand @danamlewis I suspect the issue is coming here:
root@edison2:~/openaps# openaps upload-ns-status
Input file entries.json does not exist.

@wgs4 Personally, I’d recommend having two…somethings. Just in case something goes whacky with the first one, you have a backup on hand.

:+1: to emergency backups of everything.
@sjolundjohn that just means you don't have the NIGHTSCOUT_HOST and API_SECRET env vars set in your terminal. Copy and paste the lines out of cron and try again.

Because that crappy old uploaded code was supposed to be gone by now.

But none of y'all having trouble with it have gone ahead and replaced it with what's in the docs and PR'd in your changes yet. 😜
(The old manual section of the docs on setting up NS uploads)
It works great when it works, but everyone has a heck of a time troubleshooting when it doesn't.
(There's a big pay if forward opportunity for someone willing to spend the time getting it set up.)

The install script?
It shouldn't be that hard to make an install script work. There are templates and stuff for OpenAPS that make it relatively simple...
But I'm not up to working on it. Haven't felt well at all for the past month or so especially. And having a procedure done on Monday. So have other things to worry about...

I don't even need anyone to script it. Just follow the directions and run a one-liner to export the results.

Oh
I think I misunderstand the code. It looks like it wants to walk backwards from page to page - glucose in steps of -1, but glucose is larger than page
I guess my real question is: What do page, glucose, and isig represent in the response from decocare.commands.ReadCurGlucosePageNumber?
