hello. if one wants to analize historical data from the loop. say for example basal rates in the previous day, the pupmhistory file does not help as it only covers a limited number of hours. What would be the normal way to access historical data? Nightscout?
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Jan 31 2017 02:12
Yes. Or autotune nowadays...
Luis Betancourt
@betluis
Jan 31 2017 02:14
aha ok... what I am trying to do for instance right now is to figure out if during the day (offline) the loop actually was working as we had a low BG event
but I can't figure it out... NS reports are not consistently showing historical temp basals
any advice?
I will definitely look into autotune. however in order to understand today's behavior (10 hrs ago), I am stuck

@betluis
Jan 31 2017 02:19
pumphistory.json data is deleted after 8 hrs?
or so?
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Jan 31 2017 03:15
There is a pumphistory-24h.json too.
That is used by autosens
Luis Betancourt

trying to figure out why pump-loop is no longer being recognized as an openaps command on my edison. Was running fine all day, stopped looping about an hour ago, logged in to look at the logs and even tail -F /var/log/openaps/pump-loop.log is giving me that error. Also tried to cat openaps.ini and it appears blank...
could it be a corrupt git repo?
mariano42
@mariano42
Jan 31 2017 04:27
Can't think of any way openaps.ini could have just been cleared out like that randomly. Is my only option now to re-run the setup?
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Jan 31 2017 04:29
that's your best option, yes
git corruption is different from a truncated openaps.ini, although they can both be caused by the same thing (unexpected power loss while writing a file)
mariano42
@mariano42
Jan 31 2017 04:32
oh ok.. yea I didnt think it was git corruption, but I couldn't think of an explanation for openaps.ini being cleared out. I didn't think I had any power loss, but its possible. thanks for the help.. re-running now.

It seems that all of my devices setup for openaps have stopped working. I am hoping it isn't an issue with our pump. I have two pi's that we have around the house and an edison with explorer board. they all stopped working last night. Nightscout shows the pump as "Device : Undefined" and Openaps: unknown. Strangely enough, some of the bolus events during the day today showed "openaps//medtronic/722". I restarted the nightscout site and that didn't change anything. I re-ran setup. Still no change. thoughts?

@spike1197 are the rigs looping, though?
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Jan 31 2017 04:48
@spike1197 if NS indicates "a problem", that's as far as you want to go there: further troubleshooting should be on the rigs themselves. what does pump-loop.log show? what do you get when you try to run things manually?
Paul Delano
@spike1197
Jan 31 2017 04:48
@danamlewis sort of? I get this in the pump log:mmtune: "916.540", 5, -93 Starting pump-loop at Mon 30 Jan 20:45:52 PST 2017:
mmtune: Starting pump-loop at Mon 30 Jan 20:48:02 PST 2017:
Radio ok, Listening: .
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Jan 31 2017 04:49
(if the rigs are completing pump-loop's ok, then we can troubleshoot NS uploads, but that is a totally different thing than "all devices stopped working", so just want to be very clear what we're troubleshooting.)
Paul Delano
@spike1197
Jan 31 2017 04:51
@scottleibrand I do get a "Completed pump-loop at Mon 30 Jan 20:49:28 PST 2017" in the log. I agree that there is a common point of failure. can you remind me of the command on how to check nightscout connectivity?
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Jan 31 2017 04:51
ok, cool. and can you confirm (on the pump) that temp basals are being set?
Paul Delano
@spike1197
Jan 31 2017 04:53
sorry. had to sneak into roll a sleeping Miles. temp basals are NOT being set.
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Jan 31 2017 04:54
ok, let's look closer at that pump-loop.log then
Paul Delano
@spike1197
Jan 31 2017 04:55
There may be some things I neglected to set post script run. there seems to be some errors though. I'm not sure if they are associated with my issue.: cat: enact/enacted.json: No such file or directory
glucose.json newer than pumphistory: Refreshed pumphistory
Could not parse input data: [SyntaxError: /home/pi/milesapenaps9/monitor/iob.json: Unexpected end of input]
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Jan 31 2017 04:56
ok, so it's having trouble calculating IOB. let's run that report manually and see why
openaps report invoke monitor/iob.json from ~/myopenaps
Paul Delano
@spike1197
Jan 31 2017 05:01
ah. settings/profile.json empty.
SyntaxError: /home/pi/milesapenaps9/settings/profile.json: Unexpected end of input
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Jan 31 2017 05:03
ok, then do the same on that one
Paul Delano
@spike1197
Jan 31 2017 05:07
if I understand what your mean, I ran openaps report invoke monitor/iob.json and replaces iob.json with profile.json?
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Jan 31 2017 05:07
milesapenaps9/settings/profile.json is the file it complained about
you're in ~/milesapenaps9/ already, so it'd be settings/profile.json
Paul Delano
@spike1197
Jan 31 2017 05:10

~/milesapenaps9$ openaps report invoke settings/profile.json
get-profile://text/shell/settings/profile.json
/usr/local/bin/oref0-get-profile pump_settings.json bg_targets.json insulin_sensitivities.json basal_profile.json [preferences.json] [<carb_ratios.json>] [<temptargets.json>] [--model model.json]

Options:
--model, -m Pump model response [default: false]
--help Show help [boolean]
--exportDefaults Show default preference values [default: false]
--updatePreferences Check for any keys missing from current prefs and add from defaults [default: false]

Unknown argument: autotune
reporting settings/profile.json

Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Jan 31 2017 05:11
your oref0 version is too old: your oref0-setup rig is calling that report with --autotune, but the code doesn't know what that means
you'll need to cd ~/src/oref0 and npm run global-install to install the latest version
once we get the current oref0 dev branch released, that'll get installed more reliably by npm
but in the mean time, since we're on the dev branch, npm run global-install is the way to go
Paul Delano
@spike1197
Jan 31 2017 05:14
doing that now.
whoops. sudo.
once that is done should I re-run setup?
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Jan 31 2017 05:16
let it run for a bit without re-running
or better yet, re-try those manual commands first
Paul Delano
@spike1197
Jan 31 2017 05:19
more promising information in the pump log now.
something that is new to me. cat: enact/enacted.json: No such file or directory
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Jan 31 2017 05:21
that's ok
it'll go away the first time it enacts a temp
Paul Delano
@spike1197
Jan 31 2017 05:23

certainly seems to be an issue with sending all the information to nightscout. shows temp basal though.

give it 15m now that it's looping

hey just updating on my mlab issue earlier... facepalm moment earlier when I gitter searched and found comments I made on the same subject about the large size of my devicestatus collection (has range from 200-300 MB when I've cleaned it out). Documented my process for managing the backup and clearing of mLab in this gist. Also explains how one could restore from one MongoDB from another MongoDB dump. I guess I'll just have to keep a note to check back in on the collection size every once in awhile.
Paul Delano
@spike1197
Jan 31 2017 05:51
@scottleibrand still nothing on nightscout about openaps or pump. temp basal still showing up. when I run: openaps report invoke monitor/iob.json I get similar errors as before.
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Jan 31 2017 06:02
I'm confused
is it looping successfully, or is the settings/profile.json erroring out about not recognizing the autotune argument, or something else?
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Jan 31 2017 06:11
@/all I just marked three oref0 pull requests (https://github.com/openaps/oref0/pulls) with Help Wanted. If any of you are running dev rigs and using MDT CGM, a WW pump, or Pancreabble, I'd appreciate if you could test out a pull request and comment on it with your results, as we're not running any of those things ourselves. The faster we can get these tested, the sooner we can do a release of oref0 dev to master.
Paul Delano
@spike1197
Jan 31 2017 06:26
@scottleibrand so I grew impatient and reran the setup script. then I rebooted. it seems happier. the pieve that seems to be unhappy is where nightscout isn't showing the pump status or openaps status in the little pillboxes. pump still shows "undefined" and openaps shows "unknown". at this point I feel it is a ns communication issue. looping is fine.
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Jan 31 2017 06:30
ok, glad we got one problem fixed. do you want to investigate the NS uploads now?
Paul Delano
@spike1197
Jan 31 2017 06:34
sure thing if you are willing
Paul Delano
@spike1197
Jan 31 2017 06:41
searching around for nightscout testing, I found openaps use ns shell preflight which returned true, although i'm not sure if that is old stuff or not
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Jan 31 2017 06:53
that is current
so first question: what uploads properly, and what doesn't work?
do you get temp basals rendering in NS, and boluses showing up?
Paul Delano
@spike1197
Jan 31 2017 06:56
temp basals for sure. most of the day we had boluses until mid afternoon. the upload/ns-status.json seems to be populating correctly.
Paul Delano
@spike1197
Jan 31 2017 07:04
hmm. from /var/log/messages: logger: Uploaded upload/ns-status.json to https://sounders17.azurewebsites.net Jan 30 23:03:43 milespi1 logger: Unable to upload to https://sounders17.azurewebsites.net
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Jan 31 2017 07:14
do you have devicestatus advanced set in your NS config?
Paul Delano
@spike1197
Jan 31 2017 07:18
it is indeed set.
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Jan 31 2017 07:19
Did you go back in and change/fix your URL or API secret in crontab after running oref0-setup?
I'm not sure why, but it looks like the treatments upload (using the info from cron) is working fine, but the status upload (using the ns device and the ns.ini info) is not
Paul Delano
@spike1197
Jan 31 2017 07:29
I did change that. it seems really odd that it would just stop working after a month or so.
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Jan 31 2017 07:41
It didn't just stop working: you re-ran oref0-setup from dev.
Or am I missing something?
Matthias
@ceben80
Jan 31 2017 07:42
@scottleibrand do we need both environment variables APIand ns URL in ~/.profileyet for any manual interaction? Just reading the above....
....and good morning :wink:
Paul Delano
@spike1197
Jan 31 2017 07:43
to clarify. I guess the only thing that stopped working was the status of the pump and openaps on nightscout.
in /var/log/messages the upload seems to happen successfully: Uploaded upload/ns-status.json to https://sounders.azurewebsites.net
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Jan 31 2017 07:49
No, it's not successful unless it shows up in NS. The logs should probably say "Uploading" there.

Quick question - running a MM 522. Every so often (like today), i'll go through a few batteries and it won't turn on, then it'll finally turn on with a different battery. This time I heard an audible beep after I'd tried four batteries with no success, and then it worked on the fifth. I tried different brands, so it's not a batch issue.
Anyone else had this problem? It seems to be working totally fine now.

I use xDrip to feed online data and edi pulls from there when it has network connection. When it doesn't, it bt tethers to phone with xDrip+ and gets data from there. You could tether to phone all the time by disabling wifi if you wanted to.
Make sure you have @colinlennon's cron adjustment to make that work automagically.

Hi there i am putting together an edison rig for my daughter, I am not sure if its possible to have both bluetooth tethered to a mobile and use BLE to collect CGM data. Does anyone know if that is possible?
Or would i likely use tethering to the mobile, and the mobile doing the CGM collection and upload to NS?
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Jan 31 2017 19:29
It's probably possible, but openxshareble is not very reliable (with or without Bluetooth tethering), so if you're going to be tethering anyway, I would primarily use NS to get BG data.

Jan 31 2017 19:59
You should install and test it if you're interested, but you may find it too unreliable to rely on it for unattended looping.
We need someone willing to work on daemonizing openxshareble to increase reliability vs. the current model of disconnecting and reconnecting all the time.
