@danamlewis ok! Will they go away in time, or do I need to delete all entries from ns?
Dana Lewis

I would recommend investigating and figuring it out and deleting the duplicates - or seeing if there’s another error we need to troubleshoot that’s causing it. but start with investigating any obvious duplicates

@apabari we have seen apparent doubled COB in OpenAPS pill too from time to time. We haven’t narrowed it down to what is causing it yet, but so far it seems to have usually self-resolved so long as there is only a single entry of the actual carbs in NS. If we back out of the bolus wizard after entering carbs, but before bolusing, that can yield to double carb entries into NS and those are harder to get OpenAPS to discard (haven’t found a way to fix that situation yet). So we are careful not to backout of a bolus wizard half way through now

not all pump models do that, though - (it’s how medtronic decided to log things differently in different models) - need some people to help dig through the logs and confirm if this is the same error, or if there’s something else going on when it happens

Dana Lewis

Feb 06 2017 01:10
disappeared how? there was an obvious double entry (NS showed two entries), and it vanished? did openaps track double carbs, or?
katie disimone
@Kdisimone
Feb 06 2017 01:10
NS shows one entry. For certain only one carb entry done in pump. OpenAPS pill shows double the amount of COB than was entered into pump.
Eventually, the OpenAPS pill cut it in half dramatially (not as a result of carb decay or BG rising)

@danamlewis @scottleibrand

You guys don't have a LICENSE.TXT file for openaps/docs.

I was starting from the beginning with editing and cleaning up the docs. I wanted to provide a direct link to the LICENSE.TXT file, as I was going to insert "You agree to read the [copyright agreement](link for LICENSE.TXT) before proceeding any further."

I searched for "LICENSE.TXT" via Google using this query: license site:github.com/openaps/docs and there was no LICENSE.TXT file or anything similar anywhere on docs.

Which copyright indemnity clause were you guys intending on using in the first place? Was it going to be the MIT license?

Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Feb 06 2017 01:52
MIT, like the code. not sure where the license file went
per bottom of RTD, it says (c) 2017 the #OpenAPS community
diabeticgonewild
@diabeticgonewild
Feb 06 2017 01:53
It's definitely NOT there. Just copy and paste the query into Google. I also manually looked for it, directory by directory, file by file.
That's not a copyright indemnity clause. It doesn't waive anybody of liability.
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Feb 06 2017 01:54
I believe you, just saying - we used to have one. It vanished in the last eight bajillion commits and doc re-do’s. feel free to recommend adding something back in as part of a PR.
diabeticgonewild
@diabeticgonewild
Feb 06 2017 01:55

(c) 2017 the #OpenAPS community

Just means that you're "not supposed to copy someone's work", at best.

It doesn't waive liability.
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Feb 06 2017 01:56
btw - for those using explorer boards and per the conversation earlier today (cc @Kdisimone), just added this into dev to make it easier for explorer board users and to cut down on some of the “port not open" errors (because of inputting port wrong). openaps/oref0#382
diabeticgonewild
@diabeticgonewild
Feb 06 2017 01:56
Can you please add the MIT License, then I can sync my fork, and add the LICENSE.TXT file link to my edits to the README.md
I could manually add it on my own, but I don't feel like it is my responsibility, especially since it is a waiver of liability for specific parties. I mean, I could just delete/edit parts of MIT License text out of malice or something, just like anyone else.
I mean, I guess I could do it for you, but I'm just saying, that's a risk.

Just did some range testing with a bunch of our Explorer board rigs. It showed no improvement from the external antenna that ERD sells. The trace cuts make a difference though. I see three different RSSIs for my three different-length-antenna-trace rigs, with the 915-cut antenna being about 8-10dB better (-73 vs. -85 at 4.5 meters) than the default 868-length antenna at talking to a pump at 916.6 MHz (The old alpha boards were made with even longer antenna traces, and do even worse than the 868-length ones.)
has anyone else demonstrated an improvement on 900MHz pump comms with the external antenna? If so, how did you have it connected?
diabeticgonewild
@diabeticgonewild
Feb 06 2017 04:46
It the 915 antenna via an updated EB?
It would make absolute sense to have enhanced comms via an external antenna, especially if it drew more power than the embedded antenna.
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Feb 06 2017 04:47
the 915-cut antenna was an older board with the antenna trace cut at the appropriate length. the external antenna shouldn't draw any extra power, but for whatever reason it doesn't improve RSSI at all either. I'm actually not really sure it's even being used the way I have it plugged in.
diabeticgonewild
@diabeticgonewild
Feb 06 2017 04:47
There was somebody like 3 weeks ago with an external antenna on the EB, I think.
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Feb 06 2017 04:48
I haven't cut any of our newer explorer boards' antennas: those are all still at their default 868 length.

Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Feb 06 2017 04:52
yeah, that's the reason for it. I think he made some other minor heat dissipation adjustments too, but halving the charge current will be the biggest one.
diabeticgonewild
@diabeticgonewild
Feb 06 2017 04:53
That's very impressive design with respect to revising a working circuit.
diabeticgonewild
@diabeticgonewild
Feb 06 2017 04:59
@scottleibrand I doubt you will get more than 10 dB gain via RSSI tests for any external antenna on the EB. See: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/swra161b/swra161b.pdf
Obviously dB is on the logarithmic scale, too.
Search for "gain" within the document.
I'm too lazy right now to do the calculations. Hence, referenced a document on 915 MHz antennas.
Page 31 talks about antenna choices in 915 MHz range, which is a nice read, but super nerdy.

@peterfulvi I imagine you could find hints online, but there's no telling what it actually has on it unless you see screenshot of the firmware or info or the existence of "PC Connect" in the Utilities menu

@jyaw Don't bother. They're about $10 from Amazon but the heat generation really is too high. I put one on the outside of one of the 3D printed boxes today and still it got so hot it shut the Edison down. The combination of the charging circuit on the explorer and the inefficiencies of the Qi coil generate a ton of heat. The only way I've had it work safely is to take the thing out of any box or case and lay the Qi receiver on the charging pad separately. At that point you might as well just plug it in.

@jyaw
Feb 06 2017 19:04
@tim2000s thanks for saving me the time! The idea is pretty nifty anyway. Would be awesome if you didn't have to plug the thing in, but it is really minimal effort I guess. Still like the profile of the thing without the JST connector anyway.

I'm looking at getting the equipment for building my own #OpenAPS setup, but want to make sure I get the correct pump. I've been using a t:slim for the past 4+ years. If I'm understanding the docs correctly the x12, x15, and x22 can be setup with any firmware. It's only the x23 that I need to be concerned with the firmware version. Is that correct?

x22 or x23 are preferred if you can find them (just because a few extra steps needed for x12 or x15). They all work though so doesn't really matter since you're using Dex CGM

@ceben80 I'll make sure it doesn't have that menu before I purchase one. And I don't know too much about the Libre. My endo mentioned it a few months ago, but I lost interest when it seemed it wasn't a true CGM, but lately I've seen some work on making it work more like a true CGM.
@danamlewis Locally probably won't work for me. I'm in rural Idaho. But, maybe Spokane, Boise, or Missoula would be options ... they are as close to a bigger city as we get.

@gregtcm What Dana said. I've used both x22 and x23 pumps . If you have a very small child the x23 series is nicer because of the 0.025 increment in basal settings and fractional settings for carb bolus ratios, but other than that there's not much meaningful difference that I'm aware of.
