did you add in DEVICESTATUS_ADVANCED etc
and can you authenticate your NS site
(everything running, not everyone.. no ones running here)

If you are asking about the heroku ns site, I'm not sure if I authenticated it. I know it doesn't even give me the option on the profile editor page. Yes, we added in all the optional lines.

If you click on the 3 lines on the right hand side of your NS screen, and scroll to the bottom, does it say authenticated/admin authorised?
then can you check that devicestatus in your mlab dbase is increasing?

I've got my NS running on Heroku now, (had trouble with the uploader details, but fixed that). But havne't been able to get openAPS running since I've changed.. so just working through troubleshooting that (but doesn't help that I dont have any new sensor data going in at mo)

@Kdisimone xdrip was uploading to nightscout. So i changed the settings from my heroku site to my rig IP address
@Kdisimone but first let me ask you this
@Kdisimone I've just got openaps up and running with the edison/explorer board today. It is connected to the pump but the pump is just here on my desk
@Kdisimone what I'm confused about is that OpenAPS has been setting temp basals on the pump which is good. But I thought if I selected xdrip during the setup script, it wouldn't work until I started sending the xdrip data to the rig via modifying the API Upload settings of XDRIP
@Kdisimone even before I tried changing the API Upload settings, the rig must have been getting the BG values if it was setting temp basals.

@scottleibrand at what point does it look elsewhere for CGM data - when Nightscout data is X minutes stale?
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Feb 13 2017 01:10
@coolestkidsever yes, as long as you provide your NS url
@GreatEscape it downloads from both the local device and NS, and uses whichever is more recent
Sacha M
@coolestkidsever
Feb 13 2017 01:11
hmm. so in theory without having any new sesnor data coming in (as its at school) but NS is getting new data - openaps rig should theoretically be picking that data up and making decisions (as rig is here, not connected to PWD)
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Feb 13 2017 01:12
yes, although it won't do much if it can't talk to a pump
Sacha M
@coolestkidsever
Feb 13 2017 01:12
yeah .. but that means it really is broken as its not working at the mo
:-)
rig isn't really talking to pump (trial pump that's here) .. after moving to heroku, I've reinstalled a few times, but still can't get it to work
just keep getting this
MDT cgm data retrieveError, retrying

Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Feb 13 2017 01:18
you might want to do a killall to kill any running processes and try the other commands, the rigs probably already trying to talk to the pump while you are running manual commands

neither of these IP addresses seem to work in xdrip but I'm wondering which is the correct one. When I do "ifconfig bnep0" via putty I get inet addr:192.168.44.190 / on my android I installed HE Network Tools and the Bonjour Browser feature lists the name of my rig with IP: 192.168.0.117 ----- like I say, I've tried both with xdrip to no success. But wondering if anyone might know which one is correct

How does openaps count down COB? We bolused 40 carbs at 6:35 and at 9pm it still says 35 COB
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Feb 13 2017 02:01
@ELUTE it looks at how much BG is rising (or not falling) relative to what would be expected from insulin
so if (for easy math) your ISF is 100 and your carb ratio is 20, and you rise 100 mg/dL, that would be the equivalent of 1U of insulin, which would be the equivalent of 20g carbs. since it only shows 5g of decay in your case, that would mean (with those ratios) you must have only risen a total of 25 mg/dL. That's relative to what would be expected from insulin activity, so if you had a meal bolus and stayed relatively flat, but would've been dropping by now without carbs, that would also be calculated the same way.

@coolestkidsever on your putty, did you just try running openaps get-bg which is basically failing out running openaps monitor-cgm which is what runs openaps report invoke monitor/cgm-mm-glucosedirty.json which is what collects the cgm data from the pump. this is what is grabbling the 24 hours worth of data
normally when this happens to me, it need to run a openaps mmtune. and make sure my pump is close to my rig. Right now I'm in the hospital, and If I'm more than a couple feet away, I lose comms. I think I'm getting more radio waves than the background scanner at the airport right now!

I've got a slight git corruption. Stepping through oref0-truncate-git-history.sh, there is a problem at this stage:
root@ubitwo:~/myopenaps# git gc --prune=now --aggressive
Counting objects: 28045, done.
Delta compression using up to 2 threads.
Compressing objects: 100% (23383/23383), done.
fatal: unable to read 9e39cc9e09f76813612776f60404ab2b02a7f382
error: failed to run repack
Any idea how to fix this? Since the cleanup can't complete, the .git/ folder structure is going to fill up the available disk space, and the larger it gets the heavier the load on the CPU is.
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Feb 13 2017 07:05
I haven't been able to figure out a good reliable way to programmatically detect this, but one fix is simple: rm -rf .git and then run oref0-reset-git.
jmcrawford
@jmcrawford
Feb 13 2017 07:06
Would lose all the history doing that, correct?
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Feb 13 2017 07:07
Just git history
Everything you care about is probably in logs and NS
jmcrawford
@jmcrawford
Feb 13 2017 07:11
Right. Was hoping not to have to go nuclear on it.
  • add to to-do list: learn git
As a note, we've had a number of periods today in which APS is not enacting. Processes are running, no errors in logs. Seems to correlate with high CPU demands, likely due to the git issue. Haven't been able to drill down to find out what exactly isn't working.
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Feb 13 2017 07:25
Maybe the truncate-git process is writing a lock file? If you don't want to destroy the history you can mv it off to another directory like oref0-reset-git does.
Maybe we should add a command-line flag to oref0-reset-git for manually running it and doing that regardless of what state it thinks the repo is in...

Feb 13 2017 08:36
kindly correct me if I am wrong...when openAps is running...and a temp basal of 0.25 is correction, and the blood value is 10mmol, theoretically this should get him down?? but it doesn't...but if we bolus 0.25, he will go down for sure..
is there a way to get it working like this by increasing the correction factor? or something else?
because we are using the same correction factor that produces 0.25...but as a bolus it gets him down...but as a temp basal..nothing..
by 0.25 is what is accumulated as basal iob
Tim Street
@tim2000s
Feb 13 2017 10:30
@samihusseingit A temp basal of 0.25 is 0.25u/hr, so over the five minute period that it is likely to be enacting for is ~0.02u. There are safety factors in place to limit the amount of insulin that oref0 will give as a TBR, which you need to understand and be comfortable with before making changes to them.
andyhandy
@andyhandy
Feb 13 2017 10:54
how would i manually push bolus history from the pump to nightscout?
Tim Street
@tim2000s
Feb 13 2017 11:58
You'd need to run a number of the OpenAPS commands from within the OpenAPS directory, basically pulling pumphistory, then creating the missed entries file for Nightscout, before rerunning the upload file. You might want to look in openaps.ini to choose which reports or aliases you need to run.
I'm afraid I don't remember off the top of my head.
Eric

@scottleibrand "Everything you care about is probably in logs and NS" I have to conclude that the design decision to use a git repo for openaps fails the cost/benefit test.

@scottleibrand this calculates absorbed cob based on deviation only: https://github.com/openaps/oref0/blob/dev/lib/meal/total.js#L40 . and it's run for every treatment. when there are more carb treatments within last DIA that means that carbs contribution is added more times . especially in time > lasttreatment ? or am i wrong?
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Feb 13 2017 18:20
@ecc1 yeah, I think I agree at this point. it was very useful a time or two, but with all the other logging we do, we could do without it
@MilosKozak we calculate COB for each treatment (and all subsequent ones) and take the highest number. that's how we allow for stacked carbs, without knowing in advance which of them totally decayed before the next carbs came along.
Milos Kozak
@MilosKozak
Feb 13 2017 18:24
@scottleibrand bingo. that explains the wrong calculation of carb absorption in AAPS. TYVM!

no it doesn't.... it's correct :(
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Feb 13 2017 18:34
(how) are your treatments sorted?
Milos Kozak
@MilosKozak
Feb 13 2017 18:43
sorting doesn't matter if we calculate max
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Feb 13 2017 18:49
it very much does matter
because with each treatment we run for, we then try including all subsequent treatments as well. if they're not sorted properly, that gets really weird results, as I just discovered with @JELCRAWFORD and @jmcrawford and fixed in https://github.com/openaps/oref0/compare/dev...cob-sort-test (which they're now testing)
the pumphistory.json is always properly sorted, so I hadn't added a sort function there, but when they're mixing NS and pump entries, it has resulted in some weird COB miscalculation

quick question, our dexcom transmitter died and we are switching to medtronic cgm for now until we get the new transmitter (or I try to put in fresh batteries :worried:). So, when I run the setup script, will it load the bg values to nightscout?
is there something else I should look into to send data to nightscout?
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Feb 13 2017 18:54
@jonahtaxt if you tell the new setup script Medtronic and your rig is online, yes it should upload to NS

ok, just to be clear, this is if I've been doing offline looping for a while and want my data sent to nightscout, right? If I have enough data on nightscout (since we've been using dexcom for a looong time now), do I still need to run codeopenaps first-upload code?
ja
don't know how to use gitter
openaps first-upload
I'm gonna have to do this tonight
but that awesome setup script should make things a lot easier :blush:
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Feb 13 2017 19:19
if MDT CGM uploads fail, try openaps first-upload. depending on how long it's been since you had Dexcom CGM data, it may or may not be needed. it doesn't hurt to run it if you're unsure.
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Feb 13 2017 19:19
Hehe. If you want BGs in NS and it's been a while since you've gotten them there, then yes you'll probably need it. Just run setup script and if loop starts looping but BGs don't show up, run that. Should be easy fix and painless to do

Feb 13 2017 19:40
What causes uploads to fail in such a way that requires openaps first-upload to fix it?
Jorge Aguilar
@jonahtaxt
Feb 13 2017 19:41
I will do that!
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Feb 13 2017 19:42
It is specific to Medtronic CGM data
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Feb 13 2017 19:42
@Scorponok it has to do with the way we check what's already there and decide what we're missing in order to avoid uploading duplicates
if there's nothing (recent) there, the "what's already there" check fails. so openaps first-upload just uploads a single data point to kickstart that
Scorponok
@Scorponok
Feb 13 2017 19:48
Huh, OK
Would it be safe for me to set up a cron job to run openaps first-uploadevery half hour or something? We've been having a problem with BG/basals/etc not appearing that might be solved by that
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Feb 13 2017 19:52
Are you MdT sensor? It's a fix for BGs specifically - most people will have basals uploaded and everything else displayed except BG.
Have you checked your network logs to see if it's a connectivity thing?
Scorponok
@Scorponok
Feb 13 2017 19:53
Yeah, medtronic sensor - it doesn't seem to be a connectivity thing, the CGM data gets uploaded properly, but not the blue/white circle that appears for "meal bolus" for example, and not the current basal
