This area definitely needs a PR. The box for the dfu-util download is almost impossible to edit/copy the sparkfun url. I had to copy the whole window, paste into a document and then copy the url. Also, this is a tar.xz file meaning that you have to have winzip or the like

Anyone know who to contact? I finally got around to using one of my new Explorer boards, and for some reason if I have it plugged it, with or without a battery, it heats up and shuts down the edison. It works fine on battery only, and I have plugged into both the UART and OTG. So something is wrong with my charging circuit. (I have tried a couple Edisons, so I know it's not the edison itself)

Contact ERD who sold you the board

@RosyRed you need to download the files pointed at above (DFU-Util) and then you need to extract them with a tool such as winzip. You can initially put the files anywhere, but after extraction move libusb-1.0.dll and dfu_util.exe into the jubilinux directory. You can do this with file explorer (WindowKey - E) then your ready for the next step 'Connectin cables and starting Console
@RosyRed the files will be in a subdirectory of the extraction win32-mingw32
I have an edison on an intel breakout board. I'll try and go through this entire section tomorrow or Monday and PR it. Doing this on a Mac was much easier 8-)

i'm looking into some bugs with my older rig (trying to upgrade openaps) and I am hitting a snag with monitor/clock-zoned.json it is not zoning the clock.json its basically copying it... i tried removing and adding the tz.ini device but didn't help...
this also explains why my treatments on night-scout became out of sync when i returned to Australia....

I'm having some problems with setting up the bluetooth tethering with an android phone. I have followed the instructions and also done a fresh install - I can get a bluetooth connection to the phone when I run sudo bt-pan client AA:BB:CC:DD:EE:FF but its not automatically connecting to the phone once I am out of wifi range. Any tips on what I should try? thks

Hi, I am just starting and trying to figure everything out. If I have g5, does it need to go through nightscout, or can it connect directly with share?
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Feb 26 2017 02:59
you should set up Nightscout regardless for visualizing loop activity, so no reason not to pull it from there.
@mel2095 make sure your hotspot is left on? (Turn it on and back out without anything else connecting to it)
Mel Clegg
@mel2095

@danamlewis I have the 'bluetooth' option set to on and its just the edison showing as paired, and also the 'bluetooth' tethering option set to on

Not sure if it's exactly identical but on iPhone there's also "personal hotspot" that has to be on so it can connect automatically
Mel Clegg
@mel2095
Feb 26 2017 03:06
the only other option is 'portable wifi hotspot' - I can't see personal hotspot on this android
Am trying to get it setup so I can bluetooth tether the edison to my t1d's wired nightscout uploader rig for school use (currently only using overnight at home)

@danamlewis an update on my ISF issue. It appears to be intermittent. Around 11:15 this morning it suddenly went from my standard 65 to 89. And has been adjusting from there all day. I didn't realize that until just now when I was back tracking through the day to check it. So, this may be occurring without us noticing it.

@ecc1 @ceben80 no reduction that I can measure, but my crappy multi meter (I also used a drok tester to confirm) can only measure 10ma anyway. Even if I remove the kernel I can measure no change, which likely means the edison is doing a good job of managing the power. with the edison on the explorer board I measure idle draw of 70-80ma with or without the kernel loaded and my loop not running. So my conclusion is there is little if any power reduction to be gained by more agressively turning off power to wifi when on blue tethering, but please poke holes in this. @ecc1 btw the rfkill blocks gave me “bolus argument” errors. removeing the kernel workd fine

Trying to understand the reasoning behind the OpenAPS rig's decision making - DS was 3.2 (57.6) and had been trending downward for some time (about 30 minutes or so). We started treating the coming low at 4.4, so by the time of the photo - below, he had COB of 24 . The openaps wanted to leave him with a temp of his usual basal of 1u/hr. In looking at predictions, I can see that it was predicting a climb. Initially I did a temp basal of zero, knowing OpenAPS would override me in a few minutes, wanting to see the rise start. It did not, he continued to drop. In the end, I did a temp basal of zero and suspended the pump - He ended up dropping to 2.9 (52.2) before starting to climb. I would have expected the rig to low temp until he was above 4 or close to 4 - I very much doubt he'd climb at all with a basal rate of 1.0 (that is our largest pump programmed rate) - can someone explain? We've seen this a couple of times before, but always had the unusually high COB issues at the same time. See photo for reference.

@lukas-ondriga and short q to APSapi.py I'm not using utc
I'd change line 25 json_data[0]['created_at'] = datetime.datetime.utcnow().strftime("%Y-%m-%dT%H:%M:%S.000Z");
to new json_data[0]['created_at'] = datetime.strftime("%Y-%m-%dT%H:%M:%S.000Z");

that's okay or any way referencing on the local rig date/time :question:

Looks like it was setting normal basal when BG was rising, but setting a zero temp when it wasn't.
The thinking there is that if you're no longer dropping, and have lots of negative IOB and carbs, that any more zero temping at that point is more likely to just make the rebound worse and not help with the low, which at that point is most likely going to come back up with no further action.
If you want, you can go through lib/determine-basal and see the actual if then else stanzas that determine all this. They're pretty well commented and self-explanatory.

@danamlewis Hi, i managed to get temp basal display. Nothing wrong with the setting, it is due to old mongo data (from 640g). Once i delete the old mongo database, temp basal show up.
Hi, i am using Medtronic sensor. When i try Temp Target (eating soon) through nightscout, nothing happen to Openaps (target not change). The file in settings/temptargets.json also empty. Any idea ?

@ceben80 when I set the temp target from NS it writes down the utc even if my local time is different. That was the reason why the utc is used and it works. The shell script for temptargets uses utc too. Are you sure that you need to change that?

The board is very snug, the only problem is one of the ednds broke off were the screw holes broke off on the end but its still secure, the only thing i could say is it was a tight fit and it would be nice if there was just alittle wiggle room to get around the boss screws, other than that its avery nice design. Could you reccomend a very strong plastic to print with. I notice that there are alot of breaks regarding 3d pprinting. Im going to work on my design soon. Keep up the googd work. @danamlewis design is coming along great also

Only offline if you use a HooToo or similar (router type device) and set up a local hotspot that your rig connects to in order to receive it, so not an automatic work offline with no extra work solution @JELCRAWFORD

Anyone know if the Dexcom api has changed recently? I have a python app pulling data from https://share1.dexcom.com/ShareWebServices/Services/Publisher/ReadPublisherLatestGlucoseValues and after upgrading to iOS 10.2.1 and the latest dexcom app (1.6.0), I’m not seeing any data from their API...

Hi everyone. When I plug in my carelink usb to my mac osx pc - it doesn't appear in my /dev/tty* list, or at least I can't find it!
Has anyone else had this problem?

@renegadeandy the Carelink is not compatible with the USB 3 ports on the Mac. You'll want to get a Raspberry Pi and/or a TI stick, or skip straight to an Edison with Explorer board.
@peterfulvi yes, easiest to re-run setup and delete the existing crontab when asked.

When working through Windows I could not get it to allow me to login on Putty (root)
So tried on mac, it did not locate on finder at all. I have tried every cable in our house.

Check your cables. From doc: You must use a DATA micro USB to USB cable. How do you know if your cable is for data? One good way is to plug the cable into your computer USB port and the explorer board OTG port. If your folder/window explorer shows Edison as a drive then the cable supports data.

Thats the thing, it was working but stopped and now I cannot get it to show up with any cable. Previously it would. I had gotten to the step where you enter Root as the name and then it would not do anything after and now it will not recognize it at all

Hmm. I had to charge my battery at one point. Expected it would charge from USB however it did something similar and it came back after charging

That is very similar to what I experienced. It would not show up in the devices, but I could ssh in. It would only keep booting in rescue mode. Let me see if I can find the thing I posted in Github
