Sorry, that is cgm-loop.log
The ns-loop.log stops at the time the last cgm data was read from Nightscout. There are no entries since that time. Can part of the loop crash on its own? That doesn't even make sense to me...

It looks happy, then just stops. I'm sure a reboot will fix this, but I'd like to understand the root cause. Since it is in this state right now, any debugging tips?

Is there an automated way to delete the files from there?

Mar 03 2017 02:02
So, this is probably why people are having the rigs reboot all the time? On RPi, I ran it for two months without a reboot and it didn' t fill up, but that was a 8 month old version of OpenAPS. I think I'll just add the tmp file cleaning to cron.
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Mar 03 2017 02:45
I added a fix for that to SMB branch I think.
Might want to cherry-pick that over to dev

What is the definition of $BACKUP vs. $BACKUP_AREA? I don't see where $BACKUP is defined. Is it a global declaration? (pardon my hardware-engineer lingo...)
fjungman
@fjungman
Mar 03 2017 03:39
BTW, I did delete the files from temp, but that didn't fix it until I rebooted. I guess once that files fills up, something gets broken. Maybe it doesn't create the files if they have been deleted?
fjungman
@fjungman
Mar 03 2017 03:45
And I figured out the AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'iter_records' is just not having a Dexcom Receiver plugged in...

@scottleibrand I ran the command, and then root@myhostname:~# appeared on the next line down and it didn't run anything. I had to go and manually run each command in the shell script. Also, my time still isn't updating, even though I now have ubilinux installed.

I didn't get a chance to try that. After manually running each command in the shell script, if I go back and run curl -s https://raw.githubusercontent.com/openaps/docs/master/scripts/quick-packages.sh | bash - it works.

I am a little lost with what I need to change since I have a medtronic 712 pump. I see that I need to create a static .json file, but am not sure how. Can anyone elaborate on what exactly needs to be done? The other details are quite vague.

Hi, when the AMA turn off, the COB will not pull from pump ? and NS COB will shown 0g ? I found the Openaps pill shown COB: undefined, even i have bolus for the meal through bolus wizard.
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Mar 03 2017 06:24
Without AMA, you will get undefined COB and it will just bolus snooze for meal boluses. You'll need to bolus appropriately for the carbs you eat, and then it can take over later.

Mar 03 2017 12:30
Likely a dump question, however is there a map somewhere on which scripts create which files? A visual flow chart of sorts. If not I will try to create it, however my experience is that most of you are much faster than me at putting up documentation on things. Thanks for all the updated docs on bluetooth, installation, etc... I am hoping to re-install my edison this afternoon. The pi works nicely, however its big compared to the edison! My last install had an empty ns-status file in the upload directory. I have been manually trying to figure out where that file gets created, grepping through scripts for it and I am missing it. A flow chart type map of what is where and creates what would definitely help me.

Mar 03 2017 13:55
@stephenc95 without sufficient openaps experiences like how to define devices, reports, aliases etc. etc. I would recommend to get a x22 pump for looping, the x12 models need some kind of openaps modifications, but nothing is impossible, you must first read a lot a openaps documentation carefully
Chris Oattes
@cjo20
Mar 03 2017 14:16
@tim2000s apparently, someone was told by medtronic that A52 is a "software safety check as a result of a bolus error", and that if they got another A52 after changing infusion set and reservoir, they'd be sent a new pump
@tim2000s eyim (using Loop) reported on Git that they could force an A52 error by being in the bolus wizard while a bolus command arrived from the loop
Tim Street
@tim2000s

That makes sense looking at the timing on both occasions.

I was working with Scott the other night after I had a file use all the memory on my edison, we got it removed but it deleted everything off my edison, now I cant even get it to do anything when i try to serial in. Any tips at this point?
Chris Oattes
@cjo20
Mar 03 2017 14:38
@ejoe132 You should be able to plug in the UART port, then power on the board. Then you can interrupt the boot process and allow you to re-flash by running the command run do_flash (I think). Then you just flash it as normal.
Tim Street
@tim2000s
Mar 03 2017 14:49
Yup, that's what to do.

Mar 03 2017 15:01
oh, yeah, they changed it to a push switch, didn't they
@tim2000s might have an idea
Tim Street
@tim2000s
Mar 03 2017 15:03
Next to the battery socket there's a tiny push switch. With the explorer plugged in, hold it it down for ten seconds or so to turn it off.
ejoe132
@ejoe132
Mar 03 2017 15:04
@tim2000s @cjo20 So plug it in, hold switch for 10sec then itll turn the light off then try to serial in? Or turn it on at same time I try to serial in?
Tim Street
@tim2000s
Mar 03 2017 15:05
Then run the first part of the screen command (if on mac or Linux) or get the serial session ready to go, so that you haven't yet hit enter on the password, and hold the button down for about three seconds.
Just after, try to connect with the serial
If it connects, it is usually blank and you'll need to hit enter till you see the > prompt.
Chris Oattes
@cjo20
Mar 03 2017 15:05
You can serial in before the edison powers up. You don't have to have the edison booted to start the serial session

Mar 03 2017 15:27
@cjo20 I guess the problem is that it gets to that point and then I got do the flashall.bat to try to reinstall openaps
Chris Oattes
@cjo20
Mar 03 2017 15:30
restart the board and you'll get a prompt that counts down for a second or two. If you press something on the keyboard, it'll stop the boot and give you a prompt where you can tell it to start listening for a new kernel
ejoe132
@ejoe132
Mar 03 2017 15:38
@cjo20 Ok so that got me to "boot >" how do I procced from here? i tried flashall.bat but that didnt do anything but it said unknown command

Mar 03 2017 15:40
run do_flash on the edison I think, then you run flashall on the pc
Tim Street
@tim2000s
Mar 03 2017 15:42
:+1: I always do it the other way around, but that should work
(So flashall first, then run do_flash)
As I think run do_flash gives the reboot signal to flashall
Scorponok
@Scorponok
Mar 03 2017 15:46
Intel also has a GUI tool you can download that will help you flash it, if you don't mind reflashing it back to the default horrible OS

Tim Street
@tim2000s
Mar 03 2017 15:55
@ejoe132 That may mean you need to swap the USB cables over.
Then start again
Normally I flash with both the OTG and UART connectors connected up
(I think you have to)
Chris Oattes
@cjo20
Mar 03 2017 15:58
@tim2000s run do_flash just puts it in a state where it will respond to the flash request

Mar 03 2017 16:19
@ejoe132 You run the flashall from your ~/jubilinux directory and run do_flash from your serial session.\
They aren't both run on the serial session.
So you should have a CMD window open where you are in the jubilinux directory
That's the one you do the flashall.bat from.
ejoe132
@ejoe132
Mar 03 2017 16:31
@tim2000s Yes, just got lost there for a bit. In command prompt I get to where it says to unplug and replug but then it sa dfu device not found Timeout, Did you plug and reboot your board?
First time i did it just unplugged board fully then plugged back in and it started right up
Tim Street
@tim2000s
Mar 03 2017 16:41
Step by step, get your board in serial window to the > prompt.
Then run flashall.bat from the CMD window
Then run 'run do_flash' in serial. That should work.

Hey Team, I just had the weirdest thing happen on my Dexcom. Last night it stopped reading at midnight, therefore no input to OpenAPS and I never got the readings again. Called Dexcom text support who said it looks like, in the logs, there is something putting it to sleep. I re-established all the connections, reset bluetooth etc... it is now working, but the only thing I can think of is the OpenAPS is somehow interacting and causing dexcom to go to sleep. Has anyone else seen this?

yes, iOS is quite aggressive about killing off apps when it's under memory pressure. Not much you can do about it except use the phone less, relaunch the app when it dies, and keep a backup external receiver by your bedside for night-time alarms.

Yeah, I think that points to some other cause. Rileys iPhone SE is rock solid through the night. I can imagine being frustrated to wake to no looping.
It seems to be primarily older phones that have issues, and I think the issues is more Bluetooth than iOS killing apps. On iOS, your app isn't just in two states, alive or killed. It's really not running most of the time and the OS wakes it to do processing in response to Bluetooth events
Which phone did you see those issues on, @tim2000s ?

Mar 03 2017 18:28
I wonder if you modified Loop to keep the RL timer driven notification on, if you could see if you were having a system wide bluetooth loss, or just the dex g5. @ejoe132 you should be able to just plug in all the cables, start the flashall, and then reboot the Edison.

in each of the localities im in, i have 2 network connections and i want o be connected at all times when im there so i added the other network which is an open one. its juts a matter of going down thestairsfor me to be out of range of one and in range of the other, now should that pose a problem, is there a priority string i can add to them, it seemed to throw things off last time i tried to have both of the configured, but that could of been a typo also can you all proofread the layout of my wpa_supplicant.conf and see if everything is right:
ctrl_interface=DIR=/var/run/wpa_supplicant GROUP=netdev
update_config=1

network={
       ssid="BOJWS"
       psk="psw"
}

 network={
       ssid="plymouthcomm"
       psk="psw"

 }

network={
        ssid=newnretwork"
        key_mgmt=NONE
}
sorry i spelt network wrong

@peterfulvi perhaps try removing the key_mgmt line from the open network.
Mine has several networks and it transfers fine when I move from one floor the next next, or in and out of the house
I don't have any open networks though

@danamlewis I have been looping with the pi and then got and installed the edison. I had the temp basals happening and showing up in nightscout, however the upload ns-status.json file was empty on the edison and the pill for openaps and pump were both empty. Stopping the edison and going back to the pi everything shows up in nightscout again. So... I was trying to figure out what creates the upload/ns-status.json file.

Do all medtronic pumps have to be firmware 2.4A or lower, or is it just the x23 models?
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Mar 03 2017 21:19
@MicheleJustine sounds like you might be skipping some steps - you should have setup wifi already, if you didn’t you need to do that first, and yes also plug in carelink and dexcom before you forget for later ;) (doesn’t matter now, key issue is lack of wifi probably)

@danamlewis I did hv error during dev branch installation before. Any error file/log cause this ?
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Mar 03 2017 21:20
@stephenc95 primarily that’s used for x23 models in the US to differentiate - we have not found any of the lower models to have non-compatible firmware, but the best check is for presence of PC COnnect in Utilities->Connect Devices menu. (if it’s there, it’s NOT loopable)
@zekeat09 what error did you get during installation?
Stephen Chandler
@stephenc95
Mar 03 2017 21:23
Have you found any models to work better than others? I am trying to use the 712, but my understanding of linux apparently isn't good enough for the extra work needed for x12.
zekeat09
@zekeat09
Mar 03 2017 21:23
@danamlewis Mainly i guess is due to space, i have many openaps dir. after i deleted all dir. it can install. i don't hv recall the error msg.
@danamlewis But, i found after success, the edison run very slow
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Mar 03 2017 21:24
@stephenc95 they all otherwise work the same, with the exception of x12s which require the few extra files for setup

Yeah, I haven't been able to PR the past 2 days or so due to dealing with insurance issues. A med that I really need was spontaneously removed from the drug benefit plan formulary this month. It's really a crisis. Probably have spent 24 hours of work on it. Just had to write an appeal letter on behalf of my doctor's physician assistant (my doctor has several
academic responsibilities and doesn't have the time) because the PA was running out of time and I really need it. My insurance company is full of ***holes as far as I'm concerned.

I'm so excited because the explorer board shipped today, but I heard it can be difficult to flash it. So I ordered stuff for RasPi3B too.. just in case it's a hot mess. Now it's just the waiting game. But I'll go read. At least I have the pump now! dance

@zaheria985 If you are using Edison/Explorer Board, flashing will be the hardest part. The flashing process is very flaky. I would watch this video here (and some of the following videos of the set) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L57RC8POJzM&t) as this has been the easiest flashing process to use. We have gotten people who are relatively inexperienced with computers flashing via those videos, too.

Easy to hit the ground running with actual OpenAPS setup and installation after flashing...

Hi guys! I'm an electronics/Python dev that met @libxmike on Hackaday today. He told me about OpenAPS, and I'd be glad to spend some of my time helping sort out some issues. Last year, I worked on pyLCI, this year, I'm taking on ZeroPhone. As for medical things, I'm working on ICeeData, slowly but surely =)
