And is there any chance to get it back working automatically (as Rileylink does) or if you have an error you need a reboot?
And last question: could i take bg values through NS and xdripaps (alternatively) without re-running the script?

@tim2000s , just because I really wanted it to work, I tried again...and this time, monitored the actual battery levels...and in addition to making everything superhot, battery life went down (to generate all that heat!). Love the idea but in practice, I can't get it to work.
@scottleibrand, has anyone mentioned this about the setup scripts (from the dev branch) and setting up cron? It appended "-cgm-loop" to some of my directory names. For example, my actual install dir is /root/explorer-aps but look at some of the commands in my crontab:
* * * * * cd /root/explorer-aps && oref0-reset-git
* * * * * cd /root/explorer-aps && ps aux | grep -v grep | grep -q oref0-truncate-git-history || oref0-truncate-git-history
* * * * * cd /root/explorer-aps-cgm-loop && oref0-reset-git
* * * * * cd /root/explorer-aps-cgm-loop && oref0-truncate-git-history
* * * * * cd /root/explorer-aps-cgm-loop && ps aux | grep -v grep | grep -q 'openaps monitor-cgm' || ( date; openaps monitor-cgm) | tee -a /var/log/openaps/cgm-loop.log; cp -up monitor/glucose-raw-merge.json /root/explorer-aps/cgm/glucose.json ; cp -up /root/explorer-aps/cgm/glucose.json /root/explorer-aps/monitor/glucose.json
* * * * * cd /root/explorer-aps && ps aux | grep -v grep | grep -q 'openaps ns-loop' || openaps ns-loop | tee -a /var/log/openaps/ns-loop.log
/root/explorer-aps-cgm-loop...I was wondering why I was getting lots of "Not an openaps directory" messages in cgm-loop.log. I think I found out why.

@garykidd yes, I believe so. Just need to get the mmeowlink port correct (see mmeowlink wiki for how to find that)
@logichammer that is because we renamed G4-raw to G4 and G4 to G4-local
It now uploads you BGs to NS if you plug in a receiver.
If you set it up correctly (and there are no bugs from the rename) it shouldn't give that error.
We'll also need someone to document the new setup before we release 0.5.0 from dev to master

Yes, @scottleibrand , I chose the G4 upload option when doing the install...everything was working fine but I was testing offline (and dexcom plugged in) and noticed nothing getting set. Looked a little deeper and saw that about the directory names that don't exist. Anything I can do to help troubleshoot?

Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Mar 19 2017 02:08
You don't ssh from the rig to itself.
The docs have you reboot, and then you can try ssh'ing from your computer.
If you're on Windows, that means opening a new PuTTY session.
I don't see on there what you tried to get the password changed. That should work, so you might be typo'ing something.

@scottleibrand I don't know how this happened, but I was looking at a VERY OLD version of lib/iob/calculate.js. Somehow, the version that I forked wasn't up to date. The version I had was before Jason Calabrese fixed this bug, way back in Nov, 2015.

Used to be (what I was looking at earlier today):
var diaratio = dia / 3;
But was corrected to be:
var diaratio = 3.0 / dia;

Ugh. So sorry. (I'm new to Git/Github, much more experienced with SVN.) Everything makes sense now. Thanks for your patience...

What might be going on if my rig is making temp basal changes, but NS isn't showing them? The OpenAPS pill is being updated, but only shows that it is looping. I feel like this is an issue with something on my rig and not on nightscout or with my mongo db. Also, my cgm data is being displayed correctly and the Pump pill is also up-to-date.

It might have been user error. I noticed that there was a EnableDisableRemote entry in Nightscout 20 min before the basals quit displaying. So, I went through the pump settings and turned off anything that might have gotten turned on with sensors and remote options. Another EnableDisableRemote entry showed up in Nightscout. The 5 min later, the temp basals started showing up again. Hope this might help someone else!

Correct. If you are in a habit of mis-entering carbs, you may want to use NS as your source of carb entry so you CAN edit. But you cannot change the records stored in the pump.

Have you typed control-D? That needs to be done during the startup mode. If you walk away from the process, you may miss the prompt for control-D when it’s given. if you stay away long enough, it can enter that rescue mode. It is still waiting for the control-D

@Bal00 what do you mean by Edison starter kit?
Per the docs, we recommend edison + explorer board.
You can get an Edison from anywhere; explorer boards are currently sold by ERD (and they just started selling preflashed edisons, too).
If you get a "kit" elsewhere it will likely come with a different breakout board and you'd also have to buy radio stick separately.

@hayleyml if you are getting a “can’t find a PTY” error, you probably just need to keep repeating the steps suggested at the end of step 1-4. http://openaps.readthedocs.io/en/latest/docs/walkthrough/phase-0/edison-explorer-board-Mac.html

Switch cables…but also close the Terminal App and restart it fresh helps a lot too. It is a bit of a picky process and sometimes takes several, several tries. But, it will eventually work. Closing terminal app and restarting with fresh cable plug-in helps.

So if i have tried a variety of cables, am I just kinda stuck til the board decides to work, or til I get a new one?

Hi again, I think I broke my rig :( I tried to follow the BT tethering instructions and they didn't seem to work. Now, my OpenAps doesn't seem to be working with wifi. I've restarted the rig using the little black button on the explorer board (next to the battery hookin), but its still not looping

Mar 19 2017 21:13
@danamlewis so basically iwould have to get a simcard that enables adata plan, what kind of plan would i need. I found asim card only data plan that was free with 200 mb of data a month
would that work ?

Is your rig online?
KS615
@KS615
Mar 19 2017 21:17
no, I think that's the problem, when I did the BT tethering, it seems to have disconnected it from my house wifi (and isn't connecting to BT), how do I get it back online? (if I ping google.com, it says, unknown host)
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Mar 19 2017 21:18
Go back in and check your wifi setup and fix it if needed
KS615
@KS615
Mar 19 2017 21:18
And, in the BT instructions, I got through everything successfully (or so it seemed) until the very end with command iwconfig wlan0 txpower off; sleep 120; iwconfig wlan0 txpower auto
that's when it never tethered or turned wifi back on
I'm checking the wifi network
wifi set up looks correct

@danamlewis back to what you said above at watch the logs, could it be a good idea to put a link back to the papertrail setup at that point to reinforce the need for both logging and easy access to said logging?

@sarahspins @popcornpam when you close out the console window, it doesn't log you out. So reconnecting gives you the already logged in terminal you had when you disconnected.

If you are cutting and pasting into Gitter for multiple line things, put three single-back quotes on a line, start a new line for the cut and paste, and then end with a last line of three single back quotes

Awesome I think I found a way to tether without having a data plan. I'm not advocating breaking contract s with your carrier but for me I have an unlocked phone for sole purpose of remote access to my rig offline. I download an app called pdanet and enabled BT mode which and now my phone is tethered without a data plan. Neat
