@elodaille01 that is what happened to me abotu 45 minutes ago
elodaille01
@elodaille01
Mar 26 2017 00:01
and then ? what's happen @PopcornPam_twitter ?
PopcornPam
@PopcornPam_twitter
Mar 26 2017 00:02
It gave me a 0 basal for half an hour, then .9 for about 17 minutes, than .65 for another 15, before back to the normal basal of .57
I am not running it with insulin yet, so no affect on me personally, but something wierd
I did do a temp basal of 0 when it suggested, and my bg is now ideal and stable, so the .9 and .65 I assume would be too much

@scottleibrand
Mar 26 2017 00:03
if you're uncertain about why it did something, take a look at the reason field in the logs or the openaps pill
PopcornPam
@PopcornPam_twitter
Mar 26 2017 00:03
Also, I thought the initial script was just to prevent lows, so I was suprised that it wanted to give me more
I can't access it. It only shows about 20 minutes back in the pill, and terminal doesn't seem to let me scroll backwards

git.exc.InvalidGitRepositoryError: /root/myopenaps

how do I re-clone this repo again?

elodaille01

ok Scott, I go to verify the reason field in the logs

thank you so much for your contribution @PopcornPam_twitter
Rick Warren
@riwarren
Mar 26 2017 00:05
what same instructions? you mean re-run the 0ref install script?
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Mar 26 2017 00:05
@PopcornPam_twitter make sure you're ssh'd in. to scroll back further, you can do something like less /var/log/openaps/pump-loop.log
@riwarren what step are you on that's giving you that error? you probably want to re-run that and any earlier steps that might be dependencies for it
the oref0-setup script creates the repo in /root/myopenaps, so probably re-run that
Rick Warren
@riwarren
Mar 26 2017 00:06
I'm not on a step. the log told me it couldn't access something.lock in .git/ folder and to delete the folder so I did
now its telling me I'm missing the git repo
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Mar 26 2017 00:07
@riwarren I think it meant to delete the lock file, not the whole folder
Rick Warren
@riwarren
Mar 26 2017 00:07
ahhh
that would make more sense
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Mar 26 2017 00:07
but oref0-reset-git, which runs in cron, should re-populate it for you
or you can re-run oref0-setup
probably by using the oref0-runagain.sh if you didn't delete that
PopcornPam
@PopcornPam_twitter
Mar 26 2017 00:08

Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Mar 26 2017 00:10
k
in that case you can try unplugging and replugging the cable from the UART and running that again
if that doesn't work (you have a black screen that doesn't respond to hitting enter) you might need to reboot the rig
leaving the UART plugged in and rebooting it should show you the boot sequence
PopcornPam

Mar 26 2017 00:12
@scottleibrand nothing strange in the reason fields of the logs
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Mar 26 2017 00:13
@elodaille01 if you're trying to understand its reasoning for setting the temp basal it did, you're not necessarily looking for anything strange
you'll need to look at all the numbers and the rest of the reason to get an understanding of why it thought that was appropriate
there is an entire section on the docs about understanding that output, too
if after reviewing all of that you still don't understand, feel free to post what it shows and ask
elodaille01
@elodaille01
Mar 26 2017 00:14
sorry, I thought that what I wrote ('nothing strange') was..unappropriate..
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand

"I don't understand why it's working this way" requires a different type of investigation

Quick moronic question I am sure: once this is working correctly, do I then not bolus for meals anymore?
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Mar 26 2017 00:18
@riwarren you might want to re read the reference design
Although OpenAPS can help once it knows about meals do to your carb entry, given the timing of insulin, it's still best to do a meal bolus
You may also want to try the eating soon approach to improve your meal outcomes, once you get comfortable with looping in general
Rick Warren
@riwarren
Mar 26 2017 00:20
eating soon approach?

thank you so much @danamlewis
Rick Warren
@riwarren
Mar 26 2017 00:21
my biggest issue is anytime I eat anything, my blood sugar jumps up to 15 or 20mmol/L and then slowly comes down over 4 hours. after 16 years of this it's starting to make me constantly feel quite weak
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Mar 26 2017 00:21
You may want to explore Autotune as well later on to evaluate your underlying settings
But sounds like eating soon would also help

Hi .. I can't find my openaps dir in the edison... I've logged in both as root and edison, and using ls -all I still can't find the directory.. Rick Warren
@riwarren
Mar 26 2017 00:25
@danamlewis "This usually means I’m usually doing anywhere from .5-1u or more of insulin prior to a meal." .5-1u? why am I having to take like 5-8u for a meal?

Mar 26 2017 00:25
@dana @scottleibrand i restarted openaps tonight. I left it full working 1 week ago. Tonight it is still looping but i can't get BGs, pump or openaps pills on NS. nothing has changed on my site. What have i to check? Ns-loop.log says it is uploading...i checked time on both and it is the same. thank you

Mar 26 2017 00:26
few hours ago I had 15u of apidra active in my system.....
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Mar 26 2017 00:26
@riwarren per the post it's (normal target - 80)/ISF
So for me that's .5u. Also depends on netIOB at that time. So will differ person to person
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Mar 26 2017 00:26
@riwarren eating soon is not a substitute for your meal (pre)bolus
it's a supplement
Rick Warren
@riwarren
Mar 26 2017 00:26
oooo
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Mar 26 2017 00:26
It's also not about amount; it's about timing and getting liver primed to take in carbs
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Mar 26 2017 00:27
^^ and that
Rick Warren
@riwarren
Mar 26 2017 00:27
I get it
you do a correction an hour before setting your target to the low end of your target bg
now it makes sense :) thank you
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Mar 26 2017 00:28
W/OpenAPS it can be done via a temp target, too
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Mar 26 2017 00:28
@coolestkidsever the default location is ~/myopenaps/
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis

Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Mar 26 2017 00:28
@coolestkidsever if that is missing, check what directory your crontab -l is referencing
if you still can't find it, probably just re-run oref0-setup

it didn't set a temp basal and my blood sugar is 4.7mmol/L
that can't be the intended outcome?

Mar 26 2017 00:43
I'm finding that my openaps seems to always have old data (BG data is too old) and whilst looking at the log, i see that the ntpd server doesn't sync.. (I've check the time zones on the setup so pretty confident these are ok).. Is it a problem that ntpd doesn't sync?
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Mar 26 2017 00:44
@riwarren pump needs to be in absolute u/hr not % mode for temp basals
Sacha M
@coolestkidsever
Mar 26 2017 00:44
@riwarren the "temp" field says percent in that first line, could it be the pump is set to percent temp basaling instead of absolute?
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Mar 26 2017 00:45
@coolestkidsever usually if NTP can't sync it means you're not online
that only matters if it results in your rig clock being wrong

Hi y'all. I'm an openaps user (for about 3 weeks now), with thanks to Joanne Spotten and Mikel and Jason Curry. My wife, daughter, and I would like to start hacking on the openaps code, particularly oref0. Is there a doc that explains how to simulate a pump and a CGM for a development environment?
Rick Warren
@riwarren
Mar 26 2017 01:05
I too would like to know the answer to @fozzmoo question
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Mar 26 2017 01:06
@fozzmoo we don't do any pump simulations. for development work, some of us have test pumps that aren't dispensing insulin
Doran Barton
@fozzmoo
Mar 26 2017 01:06
It would seem that would be useful for devleopment, no?
Rick Warren
@riwarren
Mar 26 2017 01:06
@scottleibrand so I can use my old minimed 522 that I took apart into little pieces? lol
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Mar 26 2017 01:07
@fozzmoo not sure: what could you do with a simulated pump you couldn't do with a real one?
@riwarren heh, as long as it still powers on and you can get out of the initial priming mode
Doran Barton
@fozzmoo
Mar 26 2017 01:07

@riwarren
Mar 26 2017 01:07

Mar 26 2017 01:07
ok, so i rebooted my rig, and got caught up in the logs and a dinner bread, and didn't notice that the openaps wasn't showing up on nightscout. There is a green flashing light on the explorer board next ot he UART port, and the tail -F /var/log/openaps/pump-loop.log command is saying raise CommsException("Could not get subg_rfspy state or version. Have you got the right port/device and radio_type?")
mmeowlink.exceptions.CommsException: Could not get subg_rfspy state or version. Have you got the right port/device and radio_type?
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Mar 26 2017 01:08
@fozzmoo I suspect the amount of work required to simulate a pump would be a lot more than the few hundred dollars for a test pump. you can also use non-loopable pumps for testing: you just have to put them into PC Connect mode every time you want to send a command
Doran Barton
@fozzmoo
Mar 26 2017 01:09
My wife was thinking we could just fudge values into the JSON files... but, yeah.
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Mar 26 2017 01:09
@fozzmoo the other thing I sometimes do is scp over the data files from a working rig to a Linux server, and run oref0 there
not too far off what she's thinking. :)
you just have to keep the timestamps up to date as you're testing, either with a scheduled scp or by manually editing them every ~10m or so
Rick Warren
@riwarren
Mar 26 2017 01:10
@fozzmoo creating a simulation of a pump would require a serious case of reverse engineering, or for original code from the manufacturer. both are not likely to happen. That amount of reverse engineering work, if I did it, I would make a new company and start selling pumps
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Mar 26 2017 01:10
or of course you could write a script to generate a glucose.json
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Mar 26 2017 01:10
Or pull from NS
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Mar 26 2017 01:10
yeah, that is probably easier for BG data.
@fozzmoo sounds like you don't want a full pump simulation anyway, just the ability to run oref0?
Doran Barton
@fozzmoo
Mar 26 2017 01:11
For example, we think we found a bug: if I set a basal rate on my pump to zero for an hour or something, openaps logs show that openaps is throwing an error because no basal rate is found.
So, I had to set my basal rate to 0.025 to get it to work.
But, anyway, yeah, not a full pump simulation, but we think it would be useful to have a process that populates the JSON files for various scenarios.
Rick Warren
@riwarren

@fozzmoo Nano & cheap data entry labor :)

If I cut the antenna on my explorer board to get more range, will that prevent the antenna from being able to make use of 868Mhz range? I have a canadian medtronic pump so it doesn't need the 915Mhz but the range is soooo crappy it doesn't even reach 1ft
Dana Lewis

Rick Warren
@riwarren

Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Mar 26 2017 01:43
@fozzmoo if your basal is zero, then the minimum temp basal rate OpenAPS can set doesn't result in any less insulin, so it has no way to avoid lows. also, because of the way we calculate maximum temp basal rates as a multiple of the regular basal, that would also mean that OpenAPS couldn't set a high temp to correct or prevent high BG either.
PopcornPam

Can anyone explain what the green light on the explorer board means? This is the first I have seen of it
Also, I put on the list of alias, and am realizing that around then is when I started running into issues, and when I login to the sudo screen now, it says:

When i open the site i can see for a couple of seconds ama lines and then they go to the right side and i have a blank graph
Iob and cob are there but no pump and openaps pills and of course no bgs.
Ah sorry i have to make you another question. I updated http widget as you explained me last time. It is working but it doesn't update by itself. I have to touch the widget to get updated info.

@libxmike : which oref0 version do you use? your oref0-setup.sh should add it, see https://github.com/openaps/oref0/blob/master/bin/oref0-setup.sh#L544
it's not about the openaps version but it's a oref0 thing. but if you're using a ww pump i would advise to use openaps/oref0#357 (even if you don't have TI USB)

I cant explain why the tools were not installed, no idea
PieterGit
@PieterGit
Mar 26 2017 15:57
the subg_rfspy/tools directory should be installed both with 0.4.2 release as the devww branch
but the error you get from the devww branch is not caused by any of the new code afaict. i think it's another issue
did you manage to get devww branch working on the pi3 with ti stick?

but there is one in crontab
PieterGit
@PieterGit
Mar 26 2017 16:02
i think the one in the crontab doesn't fix all / your git corruption issue, but it's easy to see what's causing the error of the "Old pumphistory" by (temporary) removal of the / dev/null redirects

@sarahspins - we use a voltage of 1.27 as a 'replace now" cutoff. We can still get action out of the battery at 1.25, but the battery seems to drop more unpredictably after this and it gives us a buffer for replacement so we are not constantly dead due to pump battery. It's also a clear number for DS if he notices at school and then he knows to change rather than doing nothing until the pump battery is too low for the rig to function. We use regular alkaline batteries - getting about 2 days, sometimes 3. When we priced out other options, the costs were actually cheapest with alkaline - though we are up in Canada and I think batteries are generally more expensive here... Unless on sale, Costco seems the cheapest source for AAA's
diabeticgonewild
@diabeticgonewild
Mar 26 2017 16:51
@JELCRAWFORD In the US Costco is tends to be the cheapest for alkaline AAA batteries, for retail stores. Perhaps Amazon may be cheaper
JELCRAWFORD
@JELCRAWFORD
Mar 26 2017 16:56
yeah - not much px difference with Amazon in Canada (still expensive for all options unless you get a sale). We considered lithium, but decided pricing made sense to stick with alkaline - I think there may also be restrictions on sending lithium in any great numbers through the mail across the border (though I don't know for sure). There is restrictions, or can be, on bringing too many back in your suitcase, as we've been in the US several times and could have bought while here. Now that we are settled into the routine, it is not a big deal to change - DS carries a couple along with a coin in his low kit for instances where its forgotten

anybody able to tell me how to reset edison in mac environment? I got to the stage of flashing where it said "waiting for application" which I understand means that the battery to the edison wasn't sufficient. I charged it but now my mac doesn't find the edison in finder, despite several restarts, cable switches etc. Any way to reset the edison to just start fresh?
diabeticgonewild
@diabeticgonewild
Mar 26 2017 17:10
I was able to setup OpenAPS fairly easily now because the docs are now more readable and are in a Sans Serif font. Print disabilities suck. So thanks guys.
@cameronrenwick You DO NOT want the battery to be connected to the edison board when flashing. You can't trigger the flashing process with the battery connected, as the Edison board won't power off.
In Windows, you can flash the Edison back to its original OS, yocto using "Intel Flash Tool Lite"
cameronrenwick
@cameronrenwick
Mar 26 2017 17:13
that's what I thought but when I got to the "several reboot" section the troubleshooting states that there isn't enough power to allow for a reboot..?
diabeticgonewild
@diabeticgonewild
Mar 26 2017 17:14
@cameronrenwick I would recommend flashing via Windows. Windows is by far the easiest way. Nobody that I know have, has failed after trying this method using Windows: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L57RC8POJzM
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Mar 26 2017 17:14
@cameronrenwick do you have the UART serial console screen up?
diabeticgonewild
@diabeticgonewild
Mar 26 2017 17:14
(Note that on Windows 10 you MUST enable the "hidden administrator account" via command line, in order to do this...when this video was made, this was NOT the case...)
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Mar 26 2017 17:15
if you have a battery connected, there are two ways to trigger the reboot: get on via serial console and type reboot, or use the little black power button (hold down for up to 10s)

@scottleibrand at this point edison doesn't appear in finder at all.. not too sure what's up with it
diabeticgonewild
@diabeticgonewild
Mar 26 2017 17:16
@cameronrenwick That is because yocto is no longer on the Edison processor anymore
Yocto is the factory installed OS on the Edison
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Mar 26 2017 17:16
yeah, most likely. get the screen console up to see what is going on
you should have at least a blank black screen. hit enter a few times. if it doesn't respond to that, use the power button to reboot and you'll see the boot sequence
cameronrenwick
@cameronrenwick
Mar 26 2017 17:17
that's my aim but as edison isn't recognized it's a bit of a head scratcher
diabeticgonewild
@diabeticgonewild
Mar 26 2017 17:17
@cameronrenwick It is recongnized on your computer, just not through finder as a "drive"
cameronrenwick
@cameronrenwick
Mar 26 2017 17:17
ok.. gonna do a 10 second reboot via the black button
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Mar 26 2017 17:18
@cameronrenwick you're confusing two different things. the finder thing happens over the OTG port, if the Edison presents its file system as a USB drive
the UART serial console is totally different. you should have to microUSB cables connected to both ports
cameronrenwick
@cameronrenwick
Mar 26 2017 17:19
yes, correct. I've got both cable connected and have rebooted; going to go back to terminal and see what's up
diabeticgonewild
@diabeticgonewild
Mar 26 2017 17:19
@cameronrenwick It really doesn't matter if your Edison is recognized in Finder or not. Either way, your Edison is still operable as is.
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Mar 26 2017 17:19
if you've just flashed, yocto will be gone, and it won't show in finder, and it will likely be waiting for you to do something over console. if you never got console up like the docs say, or if it's showing just a black non-responsive screen, you'll want to fix that next
diabeticgonewild
@diabeticgonewild
Mar 26 2017 17:21
You're better off doing it in Windows. I am extremely good with computers and worked in IT, among other things, and I couldn't get Edison to flash Ubi/Jubi on Mac/Linux no matter what I did, and I spent over 50 hours trying to flash. Only Windows worked for me.
The flashing process regardless is extremely flaky. Windows is the most forgiving way.
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand

Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Mar 26 2017 17:23

diabeticgonewild
@diabeticgonewild
Mar 26 2017 17:23
But if you mess up OpenAPS setup somehow, then you will need to reflash
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Mar 26 2017 17:24
yeah, although it's hard to mess things up that badly. that's like having to reinstall Windows: rare, but sometimes necessary
diabeticgonewild

yeah, and re-running oref0-setup fixes most things now
diabeticgonewild
@diabeticgonewild
Mar 26 2017 17:25
Nice. I don't mind flashing now though.
I would say that it probably adds a day or so to the setup process.
Somebody who is inexperienced with command line/terminal probably would need a week or so to figure all of this out, I bet.
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Mar 26 2017 17:25

@joannestevens I am currently looking, but you should put this into google, too: "daylight savings" site:gitter.im/nightscout/intend-to-bolus
@joannestevens I don't have firsthand experience and I can't debug the issue, but this looks like a potential solution. But, know how to revert to the prior setting before making changes: http://raspberrypi.stackexchange.com/questions/9708/after-reboot-my-rpi-is-one-hour-off-how-to-adjust-for-daylight-savings-probl

@joannestevens Here is the best solution I found...

From @ecc1
"Here's what I've added to my rig's crontab to catch changes to and from DST:

# change to daylight time on second Sunday of March
0 3 8-14 mar * test $(date +\%u) -eq 7 && set-clocks.sh

# change to standard time on first Sunday of November
0 1 1-7  nov * test $(date +\%u) -eq 7 && set-clocks.sh

set-clocks.sh is my own script; oref0-set-device-clocks.sh should work on a standard openaps rig. Won't be tested until 3am tonight, I'm afraid."

time to reboot the Edison and watch the boot sequence
don't unplug the cables though, that will mess up your console session
use the black button to power-cycle

You can always try reflashing jubi/ubi in Windows. I mean, as in, try following the videos from step 1. That's the easiest thing to do. We have gotten people flashing who were relatively dumbfounded as to how they got a working flashed edison that way....

@joannestevens - we had this trouble when we came to Hawaii last week - time zone change and 4 hr difference. openaps was looping but visualization was messed up for basal particularly. Hubby out for a run. Will ask when he's back. I feel like it eventually resolved itself after enough time... I'm not sure tho..

@scottleibrand - having just flashed and set up following the instructions, and having very little experience with command line/Linux "language" - there were a few spots I got stuck and needed help, but overall I think those of you out there that have worked so hard on the documentation and in automating the flash-set up process have done an amazing job. I kept some notes and will do a prbwith some suggestions that would have made it easier in the spots I got srmtucj (or stuck - the importance of cut and paste so you don' have typos was not lost on me yesterday!)

Hi, are we supposed to get this message " File "/usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/mmeowlink/vendors/serial_rf_spy.py", line 121, in sync
raise CommsException("Could not get subg_rfspy state or version. Have you got the right port/device and radio_type?")
mmeowlink.exceptions.CommsException: Could not get subg_rfspy state or version. Have you got the right port/device and radio_type?"
running Run oref0-setup

that error is only really a problem if it occurs every time and prevents looping
I get it intermittently a fair bit, and am working with Morgan to see if we can find a fix in the subg_rfspy firmware

Help! After 6 failed attempts to flash on my MAC, I decided to try the process on my PC. I got to 'All Platforms' in the docs and what I see is 'root@edison' instead of the Edison login. Where did I goof?

in the log file it just says listening. We also can't ping my nightscout site... it can download the whole site, but not ping it.. not sure if that might be the problem

I am new, why hasn't anyone created a transmitter to replace the G5.

@PopcornPam_twitter what do you mean by "it can download the whole site, but not ping it"? if you're just getting "Request timed out" when you ping your NS URL hostname (from your computer or anywhere else) that may just mean that Heroku/Azure is blocking pings, which is no big deal.
maybe more relevant: what exactly isn't working? what are you trying to troubleshoot?

Do you have replacement batteries or rechargeable batteries.
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Mar 26 2017 19:52
@tmyers7 there have been people who've replaced the batteries on both G4 and G5 transmitters
with the G5, the transmitter will only work with xDrip+, not the Dexcom app, after it hits its 105-112 day cutoff
the G4 transmitter has no such limit
tmyers7
@tmyers7
Mar 26 2017 19:54
I am aware you can replace the batteries. If it cuts off after 112 days can't someone develop something to attach to the sensor to transmit the I nformation?
Dana Lewis

for some reason I have gotten nothing but the following all day when trying to communicate with my pump:

mmtune: pump://JSON/mmtune/monitor/mmtune.json
reporting monitor/mmtune.json
Starting pump-loop at Sun Mar 26 16:38:22 PDT 2017:
Radio ok, Listening: .No pump comms detected from other rigs
MDT cgm data retrieveError, retrying

I looked at mmtune.json and the contents of that file is merely:

{}

it was working perfectly last night......anyone have any ideas?

I would try it manually: killall -g openaps; openaps mmtune

oref0-reset-git usually fixes those
if you have one it doesn't fix, I'd like to figure out why before you go deleting .git manually
Tim Street

Think I know why. I've an old line in cron to delete got from temp. Oref0-git-reset tries to use it and it isn't there.
