Help/Advice needed: My rig crashes every few days- just goes unresponsive. Light still on, but even the serial terminal does nothing. A hard power-cycle reboots it fine, and it chugs along for a couple more days until it does the same exact thing. It used to do this maybe weekly, but now seems like it's almost daily.
digging through logs, it looks like it always happens after oref0-online runs a network restart. Not on every restart, but looking crash-to-crash it's always following that.
from kern.log:
May 10 16:49:11 localhost kernel: [65657.562776] wifi_platform_get_mac_addr
May 10 16:49:11 localhost kernel: [65657.568246] wifi_get_mac_addr_intel: unable to open /config/wifi/mac.txt

May 10 16:49:11 localhost kernel: [65657.706796] CFG80211-ERROR) wl_update_wiphybands : bw_cap failed, -23
then it locks up. Any ideas?

@dramageek we have experienced the same thing. running multiple rigs helps mitigate the issue, but it seems to affect us most when we're out and about (and therefore switching networks a lot).
have you tried the latest jubilinux? I'm thinking there's a chance that might help, but haven't tried it yet.

This enclosure has been updated. Someone gave me the idea to flip the Explorer and make it 2mm thinner. So my friend and I did that. Also it has the window now for better cooling, and not because Intel pays me to show their logo.

@tynbendad UAM means the data gets tagged as UAM for autotune, so it’s not going to tune it for carbs. so to your point - if you switch 100% to all UAM, you’re probably not gonna get much carb data that’s tunable, and if you want helpful tuning on carbs, you’ll want to be entering at least some rough ballpark estimatees.
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
May 11 2017 00:38
also, if you enter rough ballpark estimates, then the carb ratio autotune estimates will be suitable for telling the closed loop how much rise to expect from those ballpark estimates, but won't be very useful for telling you how much to bolus. garbage data in, garbage recommendations out. ;-)

@scottleibrand I updated to the latest jubi a few weeks back. When the oref1 stuff pushed to dev I switched one of my rigs to that, and shut the other down to make sure I was seeing what dev was doing. IDK if I'm just noticing the error more now because the other rig isn't picking up the slack, or if it actually helped.
Any workarounds to alert when it goes offline?

Martin Haeberli
@mhaeberli
May 11 2017 02:32
@wharper11 in my experience, you need to authenticate your web browser in the nightscout screen, and turn IOB and basal on
so at the top right of your nightscout screen, there are sort of three dashes, like a fancy = sign; press that; scroll to the bottom; authenticate with your API secret, then save.
THEN choose a basal view (like “default”), and turn on IOB (maybe?)

hello! I have a quick OpenAPS question. If I make a system using a 722 pump, will the edison board pull bolus activity and such from the pump to post to nightscout? I'm AO T1D and my family really doesn't understand what it's like for me day-to-day, so I'd be really happy if they could see my activity on NS in detail without me having to manually log everything.

Message to all Medtronic Sensor loopers... do you experience intermittent Nightscount uploads of treatments? I have raised this issue many times but have not been able to get it fixed. In my case, boluses and temp basals don't get updated continuously to NS as they are meant to and this has been the case since day one. I think that @jonahtaxt is having the same issue, do anybody else have similar problems? is any MDT looper that has this process perfectly working? If treatments data is not uploaded properly then it means further calculations can't be done effectively such as atuotune. If this is indeed a case shared by many users perhaps we can try to organize a different group and to try to solve it?

You'd need to either include that process in the ore1 oref0-pump-loop.sh script or add it in to BG-Loop. It makes more sense to do it within the pump loop to reduce calls to the pump but I haven't checked how it is currently configured

your api is in your config variables (azure or heroku)
If azure it would be under Settings -- Variables? or something similar to that
in Heroku (Config Variables)

@elodaille01 go on the ifttt docs page. Follow those directions. If those directions don't work then it means you are doing them wrong. Those directions are really straight forward. Make sure you've authenticated your site before you try using console view.

Just wanted to say that on @danamlewis encouragement in her latest post I just installed papertrail logs for my mobile rig (had previously just done it for my NS site) and it's a huge help especially at work when SSH'ing in is challenging/time consuming. Encourage everyone to do it.
I would note that in the instructions anyone using Pi needs to install the arm version of remote_syslog rather than the i386 version, but otherwise the papertrail instructions in the docs worked fine for me. Happy to PR if desired though I held off since I know the docs going forward are just meant to be for the explorer board.

@davidkeddydb cool. Can you scrub back to just after the carb entry (and before the shower) so we can see what that did to the purple lines?
@libxmike I would say that's expected. If the jump is due to a calibration or something random, then the upward trend will not be continued, and it will cancel the high temp 5m later (and set a zero temp as in this case). On average, it does the right thing.

@ericfeibelman you can apt-get install jq manually until we get that updated properly in oref0-setup for MDT CGM.
@davidkeddydb it almost looks like SMB was no longer enabled.
Maybe check the logs for that time period as well?
David

Hmm. I have it enabled and I have microbolus in there. I will have to check

@scottleibrand what if there is no GB data after that high jump, will the hightemp also be canceled after 5min?
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
May 11 2017 14:48
@davidkeddydb with your remainingCarbFraction change, I would still expect a zero temp, just an earlier start of the SMBs.
@libxmike no, it the temp would run to completion in that case.
If you had ???'s on a directly connected receiver, and/or raw data only (connected or uploaded to NS) I think it would cancel in that case. But not for simply missing data.

One rig has true autotune figures and the other newest that has SMB just has the current basals as what is reporting in autotune
Mike
@libxmike
May 11 2017 14:55
so, what I thought was a option to set false/true after, lets say 10 min to go to default basal
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
May 11 2017 14:56
@libxmike If you wanted, you could try incorporating the 10m ago to 5m ago delta into minDelta, to force it to wait for a second data point.
Mike
@libxmike
May 11 2017 14:57
thas would be a option, but jumping just after 1 height is too soon
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
May 11 2017 14:57
We find that it's usually better to let temps run when BG data disappears, assuming they were set on non-garbage data.
Mike
@libxmike
May 11 2017 14:57
but in that case the jump was 200mg/dl
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
May 11 2017 14:58
For us, we get "no data" most commonly due to flaky mobile connectivity
@libxmike maybe we should also have limittr also filter those.
The Dexcom algorithm refuses to show a BG data point that far out of whack.
Mike
@libxmike
May 11 2017 14:59
well, one security mesure will be ok, if 5 or 10min ago delta > 50mg/dl (or 100) go to default basal
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
May 11 2017 15:00
Do you ever get multiple flaky data points in a row?
Mike
@libxmike
May 11 2017 15:01
not that I remember
just checked NS report and I get just one high 1, 2 times a week
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
May 11 2017 15:01
If not, then using the minimum of 0-5m delta, 5-10m delta, 0-15m avgDelta, and 0-30m avgDelta, should prevent this.
Mike
@libxmike
May 11 2017 15:02
or once like this
Screenshot 2017-05-11 17.02.35.png
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
May 11 2017 15:03
And that way if you were actually rising, and the 5-10m delta was say +5, it will allow the previous high temp to run without canceling it for the one fluky data point.
Although I guess it would still cancel it 5m later for the huge drop.
It seems like filtering out the bad data would be the better solution.
Maybe if the difference in deltas exceeds a threshold, we exclude the data point.
Mike
@libxmike
May 11 2017 15:05
like take the last BG and calculate average of last 15min (last reading excluded) and compare?
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
May 11 2017 15:06
So if you're rising rapidly you don't trip an arbitrary threshold on allowable deltas, but if you're flat or dropping and suddenly jump up 50mg/dL we ignore the last data point. That algorithm might be good for detecting Dexcom compression drops on the downside too.
We'd want to compare deltas not just the BG values.
Mike
@libxmike
May 11 2017 15:07
ok
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
May 11 2017 15:07
So it doesn't filter when BG is steadily rising or falling fast.
Mike
@libxmike
May 11 2017 15:07
yup
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
May 11 2017 15:08
How accessible is the Limitttr code? Could we do this there? Or would it need to be post-processed in oref0?
Mike
@libxmike
May 11 2017 15:10
ther are few versions of limitter code, one from @Joern one from @keencave and then another version from @FPV-UAV , so I think oref0 will be universal solution
and few different hardware setups
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
May 11 2017 15:12
Want to do some prototyping in excel to see what range of thresholds would filter out the bad data without filtering out any good data points?
Mike
@libxmike
May 11 2017 15:13
also there will be different software on iOS and Android that sends the data to NS
sure
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
May 11 2017 15:14
I would add a column showing 0-5m delta, 5-10m delta, and maybe the avgDelta calculations from oref0, and see if you can construct a simple filter algorithm
Ideally it would exclude just the fluky data point, not the one right after it, but would catch fluky low data as well as high.
We may not actually want to use this to try to catch compression lows, as they usually last 15m or more, and zero temping until we see it normalize is safest.
But if it happens to filter the first big drop of a compression low, that would be a good side effect.
Would also be interesting to see how it applies when a sensor reaches end of life and starts getting really noisy.
Mike
@libxmike
May 11 2017 15:20
that happens too but not always, Libre has 14.5 days life time, sometimes on the end you get perfect or wacky data, and if you still have the sensor and transmitter after 14.5 days you get flat line
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
May 11 2017 15:21
With Dexcom you can keep restarting the receiver until the sensor falls off or gets too flaky to be useful.
Mike
@libxmike

Screenshot 2017-05-11 17.21.22.png

Heh
Mike
@libxmike
May 11 2017 15:21
Libre has a dead switch
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
May 11 2017 15:22

yup, I forgot to apply new sensor that day
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
May 11 2017 15:22
We shouldn't allow it to loop off a flat line either.
Maybe if more than 5 +0 deltas in a row, cancel any temps?
Mike
@libxmike
May 11 2017 15:23
but you may get low flat for a reason

There is still something wrong with how it ends up outputting to the profile
you see at the top where it’s suggesting various changes?
but the output it 100% identical, including ISF and carb ratio, which is the major red flag that something’s goofy

News about Fiasp. I am in Montreal (this may vary by province). I walked to the nearest Pharmacy from my hotel and asked if I could get some Fiasp. The pharmacist had no idea what I was talking about, but he looked it up. He said "We have Novorapid. That's a fast insulin" I said, "No I need Fiasp" After a bit more looking up he said. None in stock but we can get it tomorrow. So I placed an order and I just picked it up. I got a prescription form with the vial, but no doctor seemed to be involved. 1 vial cost me $42.22 Canadian. Pretty good deal, I think. I will try it out next week.

Looking for a little help. I've tried to use the SMB option but I can't get it to connect to the pump. I've tried installing on two different rigs. One I just updated to the latest dev and reran setup with the microbolus switch enabled. The other I deleted myopenaps and src, redownloaded OpenAPS and ran setup that way. One was using xDrip+ connecting directly to the rig, the other uses xDrip+ uploading to NS. Just not working with either. The pump is a 722 and using G5 sensors.

Hi everyone ! Sorry if it has already been said..but what is the way to make SMB less aggressive ? We have lots of hyperglycemia since couple of days..and SMB is doing a very good job..but ...it ends in hypoglycemia..1/ one solution I guess is to use 'eating soon' to limit the post prandial spikes (I 'm currently working on IFTTT integration, am I right to do so ?) ..(in our case, there are rather few peaks in ordinary times, but for days like these, I imagine it can be saving to have recourse .. I didn't set it up before because I did not see how I can manage it for my daughter..day by day, meal by meal..but now I think I should do it..) 2/ My preferences.json should perhaps be 'smarter' than they are ? (could it be a good reason ?) and 3/ I don't think so but...could just-after-meal spikes and even during-meal spikes be a consequence of that new configuration (IN MY CASE I mean, by having missing something or ..not recommandable preferences.json)..thank you so much

@danamlewis I don't know. I will enable it and see. This will be the I don't know how manyth time I have needed to update my preferences.json but I will do it.

@davidkeddydb no, just do your runagain.sh but add autotune to the list of things you enable
David
@davidkeddydb
May 11 2017 20:42
@danamlewis :smile: That is way better
I wasn't sure if it was like SMB and I had to rerun it
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
May 11 2017 20:43
yes, I meant re run it :)
but via runagain vs. having to do the full setup script interactively
my brain’s not translating very clearly today to my typing :)
David

That still changes the preferences.json back to original setting though. No big deal

@danamlewis Hard to explain... it gets the pump time/date. Says it is responding and doesn't have to send a wakeup. However, it never actually runs or interacts with NS. Nothing coming from the pump. I rerun setup without the microbolus switch and everything goes back to normal.

@elodaille01 you weren’t getting lows before with maxIOB that high?
also, screeenshots of some of what you’re seeing in NS might be helpful, too

@elodaille01 what is your target range, since you have override_high_target_with_low set?
@geoffro10 can you grab a pump loop log? it’s got an error that we need more info on
elodaille01
@elodaille01
May 11 2017 20:53
at which moment do you mean @danamlewis ?
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
May 11 2017 20:54
the target range during one of these examples
also, did you have SMB on for the full 48 hours shown in the bottom?

May 11 2017 20:54
@elodaille01 be careful when posting your ns url in a public room :wink:
elodaille01
@elodaille01
May 11 2017 20:55
(oops I forget to remove my URL)
it was activated since yesterday afternoon..the trouble we had just before was an infection at the level of the catheter
sorry @danamlewis I did not observe my target range at that moment..
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
May 11 2017 20:58
ok, just share your target ranges in general
also, are you using autotune? is your carb ratio anywhere near close to what it thinks it should be?
elodaille01
@elodaille01
May 11 2017 21:02
ok ..my target ranges are 110-110 all night (was 100-110 before but when activating SMB, I would be more prudent)
then 110-120 or 120-120 during several hours in the afternoon
no I'm not using autotune yet
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
May 11 2017 21:03
ok - I would run it even if you don’t plan to let it tune automatically every day.
it looks like you have some recurring patterns, so basal and/or ISF and/or carb ratio tweaking might need to happen.
you may want to turn off SMB in the meantime
elodaille01
@elodaille01
May 11 2017 21:04
ok..I have planned to set autotune up
ok @danamlewis
just a little question concerning UAM, 'to announce a meal' is to write a note in the care portal or using 'eating soon 'correctly or both ? thank you so much
elodaille01
@elodaille01
May 11 2017 21:10
(and to answer to one of your previous question : yes my carb ratios are ok..they are (were) adapted but the last 2 or 3 days were not going well..)
Tim Street
@tim2000s
May 11 2017 21:17
@elodaille01 - what are your normal hourly basal rates?
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
May 11 2017 21:17
if the last 2-3 days weren’t going well, that’s probably what needs to be fixed first, since you just turned on SMB yesterday.
I’d pause SMB testing until you sort that out first
elodaille01
@elodaille01
May 11 2017 21:19
yes I agree, but I thought it would be fixed when we remove the previous catheter yesterday evening..It will be better in several days , for sure ;) @danamlewis
Tim Street
@tim2000s
May 11 2017 21:21
@elodaille01 Is your basal rate lower than 0.4?
elodaille01
@elodaille01
May 11 2017 21:21
yes between 10h and 12h and between 13h30 and 15h30
Tim Street
@tim2000s
May 11 2017 21:34
You're probably best disabling SMB then. The smallest increments are 0.1u and that may be your issue.

Now that there are more Yet_Another_Preference=, should we work on some sort of runagain for it? I'd just make a backup and copy over it each time, but feel like that would probably cause problems with version upgrades. Maybe another interactive script? Or am I just overcomplicating things. Thoughts?
Geoff Aumaugher
@geoffro10
May 11 2017 23:23
Could this possibly be a problem with getting SMB to run? pumphistory.json: "TempBasalDuration 2017-05-11T18:53:58 head[2], body[0] op[0x16]"
It's the only thing I notice that shows when I enable microbolus but doesn't show when I don't.
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
May 11 2017 23:28
@geoffro10 remind me - when did you pull this version of dev?
what day?
ah - never mind. different error than the one I spotted & we fixed Sunday
but yes that’s probably the issue
Geoff Aumaugher
@geoffro10
May 11 2017 23:38
@danamlewis I found something else. I'm getting "root : unable to resolve host xxxxxxx" also after enabling the microbolus
Where xxxxx is my rigs name.
