Hey everyone, got a question...I've got my new rig running pretty well (G5 -> xDrip -> Nightscout -> OpenAPS with Explorer board), but it seems that every time it institutes a temp basal, the temp basal is equal to what the normally scheduled basal would be. It even seems to do this when I have a relatively high blood sugar, i.e. when I'd expect the temp basal to be significantly higher. Any ideas on this, and also does anyone know what the current max basal is for APS (on my previous rig a year ago it was 6.35 units)...thanks!

@cameronrenwick sure, but I can't say its perfectly clear...my max_iob is 0, but my max basal rate on my pump is 6.35...even so, I'm only getting temp basals that equal my regularly scheduled basals. So does that mean that my max_iob MUST be set higher to get temp basals higher than my regularly scheduled basals?
Tony Zarro
@tzarro
May 29 2017 02:24
And this is the max_iob limitation I was referring to previously (maximum of 6.35 units): https://gitter.im/nightscout/intend-to-bolus?at=568857bb0171d1791d0315eb
Does anyone know if this is still the limit? I'll try setting it and testing it if not...
Matt Walker
@walker0
May 29 2017 02:49
@tzarro the max IOB is the maximum amount of insulin openAPS is allowed to contribute towards. So yes it won't high temp until you set it higher than 0. The max basal setting in the pump is where the 6.35 error was.
Tony Zarro
@tzarro
May 29 2017 02:50
@walker0 ok, thanks...I've set the max_iob to a higher than zero number (6), but its been 20 minutes now and the calculation is still stating that the max_iob is zero...I've rebooted but to no effect...any ideas?

May 29 2017 04:15
@danamlewis I think you might be right about that...I remember using the install script twice but not sure if I used the same directory the second time around (thought I did, but now I'm not so sure)
@danamlewis ugh...I have one called 'aps' and one called 'APS', lol...any ideas on how I should go about getting rid of one of them?
Tony Zarro
@tzarro
May 29 2017 04:23
the one called 'aps' is the old one, 'APS' is the one I want to keep

Will having the G4 Dex plugged directly into Explorer board allow upload of raw values? (I never bothered to enable in heroku as I was always using share)
katie disimone
@Kdisimone
May 29 2017 14:46
@davidkeddydb Yes, if you:
(1) use the G4-upload cgm option during setup
(2) use the 2017 version of the explorer board
(3) plug the OTG cable into the OTG port on explorer
(4) have rawbg on your ENABLE line in NS setup, and
(4) plug a battery into the UART port to power the OTG port/dexcom
rsilvers129
@rsilvers129
May 29 2017 14:55
And the benefit of raw is that it will avoid a blackout of data when the Dexcom goes into ??? mode?
katie disimone
@Kdisimone
May 29 2017 14:56
@rsilvers129 it eliminates blackouts then as well as during sensor starts. Can still loop so long as raw is under about 155, I think.

I had some lows last night as I turned on the NightScout bolus wizard pill, and it suggested a bolus correction. They seemed to make sense, so I did them. I see the OpenAps docs say it is a bad idea. It was a bad idea. They are for people using Nightscout without OpenAps because OpenAps is doing its own corrections already.

@Kdisimone that is a nice feature. I have to decide if I am up for changing to my G4 receiver or not. Thanks for the tip to try a iPhone ssh program. It has been super useful. More useful than paper trail for me so far as I can log in and type commands or even reboot.

All of a sudden, all my RPi's can't stay connected to a wifi network for more than about 15 seconds. Edisons and all other devices have absolutely no problem connecting and staying connected. Has anyone else ever dealt with that kind of issue?

What about running Linux on an iPhone, and then installing OpenAPS, and then having it talk to the pump with RileyLink?
Tim Street
@tim2000s
May 29 2017 15:18
@rsilvers129 - tried that on an android phone. There are a number of issues with BT access.
And to run linux on iPhone, you'd need a fully jailbroken device.

Going back to trying out the LPON Edison, I'm getting this when I try to start up wlan0 with WPA:

root@eddie:~# wpa_supplicant -B -i wlan0 -c /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf
Successfully initialized wpa_supplicant
Could not read interface wlan0 flags: No such device
nl80211: Driver does not support authentication/association or connect commands
Could not read interface wlan0 flags: No such device
wlan0: Failed to initialize driver interface

So I have a feeling that Jubilinux doesn't support the LPON version of the Edison.

BTW, can Gitter send photos from the iPhone app? I have only figured it out from a Mac.
To do a low-treatment, I have an IFTTT set up, but it is for a fixed amount. Can I just do it with the pump by using Bolus wizard, and then not putting in a glucose, and only putting in the carbs, and then turning the recommended bolus down to 0.025?
I ask because I did it, and pushover told me that carbs were 11, bolus was 0.025, and hypothetical glucose delta was -0.825000001. The delta should really have been about +40.
rsilvers129
@rsilvers129
May 29 2017 15:32
When I set up IFTTT with maker_webhooks, I turned on the feature to give an acknowledgement. But I also see that Pushover is acknowleging. I don’t want two acknowledgements, but when I go to edit my IFTTT, I can’t see a way to turn of its acknowledgement feature. Any idea how to turn it off?

@rsilvers129 I don't know anything about the NS pushover hypothetical glucose delta, but yes, you can enter rescue carbs with the bolus wizard like that. You just won't get a high temp target unless you set that separately.

@tynbendad for the easy way, if you did rm -rf src and then when you went to rebuild the loop use this command to fetch your PR version…

mkdir -p ~/src; cd ~/src && git clone -b patch-1 git://github.com/tynbendad/oref0.git || (cd oref0 && git checkout patch-1 && git pull) and then cd ~/src/oref0 && npm run global-install…run (or runagain) setup script, set preferences...

I have been using a RPi with a TI USB stick, and compared with the Carelink stick it was like night and day. But the LPON edison's range is good enough, and I don't think there are comparisons of SPON and LPON available. Not in terms of range and neither in terms of battery use. But I have been wrong before.

I got the pre-flashed ones from Hamshield. Haven't noticed anything about excess heat, but I generally either have them bedside plugged into USB power or on my desk, only very occasionally in my pocket. I would certainly be very curious if there are any differences in range.
I was just surprised at the lower range since my Pi3 with TI stick would often reach me even two rooms away (~30 feet)

May 29 2017 21:29
@hilarykoch I added screenshots for this page http://openaps.readthedocs.io/en/latest/docs/Resources/my-first-pr.html but they mostly have to deal with how to PR for docs. The same idea applies for oref0 too though. If you start in the openaps repo, get on the branch you want to eventually make the PR to, navigate to the file you want to edit, and then click the pencil to edit the file…when you save the edited file Github will automatically make a new patch-x branch in your repo. You can cancel out of making the Pull Request if you just want to to keep the edits in your own private repo. For example, I have my preferences file saved as a branch in my repo from the remainingcarbs branch…So, when I rebuild my loops I don’t have to redo my preferences. I have a couple other little edits in there too for stuff that I like that may or may not be suitable for PRs later.
