Got the pi zero W today. I took a back up sd card from my pi3, put it in. Fired up the pi zero W. Used the flashed TI stick from the pi3 and my pi zero W came right up with pixel on my 17 inch monitor. Typed l to watch myopenaps. Withing 10 minutes I was looping. No errors. The pi zero W is the size of the edison. Cana kit with everything inclusing a case with 3 different tops and I wanted a heatsink. I found a cool case with a heat sink for $1 more than just heat sink. Everything including the power supply, pi certified sd card with noobs and converter cables $38.

@jcorbett80 unfortunately it draws about 2x the power of the edison.
I wish it was the more viable option tho for sure. Flashing SD cards feels a lot better then dfu-tools =P

@jcorbett80 can you post a link to the cool case with heat sink?

Jun 11 2017 00:25
@applehat I'm OK with that. I am working with anker to find out exactly what portable battery charger I need. My pi3, antenna, and anker 13400 all fit into an iPhone s7 found on amazon. This will take a much smaller battery than the 3 and this is as small as the edison. @sdneufer I will send a link. I have not assembled it yet. I wanted to first see how well pi zero w worked with simply throwing in a pi3 sd card.

@jcorbett80 there is also this
If you wanted to just wire up 2x 2500mAh lipos in parallel and add a small USB charger as well, you could skip the bulky USB cable and charge-pack

@annettemvalle I setup nightscout from scratch. Same result. But I found a short hint in the documentation. „openaps first-upload“ for Medtronic user. THAT fixed it for me. Looks awesome now!

Jun 11 2017 00:36
@applehat that looks pretty sharp. I am looking into if there is a way to pin out the TI stick directly to the pi and make all 1 package except for the battery. Then design a case to hold all.
At 1 amp 5v it shouldn't take a battery like the 13400 I use for the 3. That is overkill for the 3 lol. I get 13 hours and still have half the lights still lit. And I am running a fan on it. Along with a program to modify fan speed based on temps.
Marco

Jun 11 2017 00:40
@annettemvalle Hmm, ok not completely fixed. I have a lot of future treatments also after re-setup of NS but I see the current number over the graphs. One step done.

@CaptainBalou did you checked this in the troubleshooting page: Don’t have data in Nightscout? Make sure there is no trailing slash / on the URL that you are entering and that the API secret is correct. Check your Nightscout URL, too - it’s one of the most common errors to mistype that. (And FWIW, you shouldn’t be typing things like that in the first place: that’s what copy and paste are for.)
Has anybody seen this wifi problem: " link down if wlan0 may call cfg80211_disconnected. event : 5, reason=6" when I run the oref my edison/explorer board combo starts to drop packages when pingin to it, but if im not run the oref it does not has any connectivity problem

@annettemvalle yes. Checked the URL. In the meantime (took some minutes) I also see BG numbers. Wohooo! I am just wondering because of the "future treatments which are in fact in the past". But I'll figure that out after sleep. It's 3am here in Germany and I have to go to bed. Thanks for helping Annette!

@CaptainBalou I know you're likely asleep but I had the same problem you did. It isn't a NS problem it's a data problem. If you've recently set up everything, and you don't have much data, deleting what is in your mLab database may be easiest. Somewhere in your mLab entries one of them has a future date and it's messing everything up. I've been where you are and had to delete data - all good since then. Before you delete tho, check to make sure your pump, your phone, your NS site all have the correct dates and timezones. Data pushed to the left hand side of the screen is all about bad dates (heh.. not "that" kind of bad date..)

@applehat @sdneufer the pi zero W definitely runs much cooler that the edison (Explorer board) it was nothing to pull 80 on my edison while working on it. I have the pi zero W hooked to 17" hdmi monitor running pixel. Going all through the settings, pulling Temps, changing back and forth between networks and so on. Just anything I can do to push it. And the highest I can get is 50 degrees. No stalling in open aps. I haven't put heat sink on yet. One of the pi case tops comes with a hole above where the heat sink goes. I will attach it and see how temp does. Tommorrow I will test range of wifi and bluetooth. But so far it is very stable. I am going to keep it running tonight as my main rig and see how it does.

I wish there was a cheap alternative to the cc1111. There use to be the Slice of Radio stuff, but it all seems like its no longer made.
So, I just completely wiped my edison and i'm starting clean - got the the oref0 global-install part and noticed a lot of the packages are warning that they want a newer version of nodejs
Maybe we should ad installing the latest nodejs as part of the install process
0.10.29 is stupid old.
Marco
@CaptainBalou
Jun 11 2017 02:05
@cameronrenwick Yes I wanted to sleep a bit - but cannot because of BG 200. I think my insulin died while gardening in the sun today. Changed everything now and hope to get a bit more down. I don’t know why and by what but the „all is on the far left side“ issue is gone. Simply gone by doing nothing. So that could have been the one you mentioned. But did you also have those „future treatments“ which have been solved by that? Ich already wiped my nightscout instance and created that new.
Marco
@CaptainBalou
Jun 11 2017 02:28
My Nightscout’s future treatments are all 2 hours old. So means Nightscout or whoever thinkgs I am in UTC (which is 2 hours away). But I am in CEST. My time and timezone is the same on all devices/configurations. Any idea how to get rid of those FT?
Please keep answering even if I try to go to bed again. ;-) I’ll answer as soon I am back on my desk.

NA pump. And I've followed the "troubleshooting" article on the issue and all the steps multiple times.
Mmtune just gives the whole "are you sure you have the right device / port set" error

Other question: what is the best way to handle highs? Usually I do a correction bolus according to the bolus wizard, but now that the temp basals are set higher and that active insulin is not registered it doesn't really work good. Should you check your IOB before correction boluses or is there easier way?

We usually recommend letting OpenAPS do corrections for you. If you want to accelerate the process, you can set a low temp target (like the "eating soon mode" preset.)

@applehat There is a very cheap alternative to the CC111x: the RFM69 ($5 for a bare module, $10 for a breakout board, from Adafruit or Sparkfun). But it needs different software than the mmeowlink/CC111x combo because it's just a radio (no MCU or firmware) and connects via SPI (like the Explorer's radio). I use it in my (non-openaps) rig: https://github.com/ecc1/rfm69

@laurathiessen it did mmtune. did it also give errors after it mmtune'd?
keep the pump close to the rig to see if that makes a difference

there is pump-rig communication, but getting the old pumphistory fails. how far are the rig and the pump apart?
that should be close enough.
e.g. is your pump battery full?

most of the errors I encounter occur from empty pump batteries
or not being at the right frequency (mmtune)

I have a question. I just got my second rig running and it will not hight temp me above 2 units/ an hour. Now on my previous rig it would high temp me usally at 3.75 uits an hour when my blood sugar was rising. Is this due to autotune not being enabled yet. I also get this line in my loop saying autotune is not running so its not microbolusing is there a way to turn it on. I enabled it in setup, from what i expereienced is that it takes 24 hrs before i get a profile. Here is the line
Microbolus var is currently set to: true
Warning: Autotune has not been run. All microboluses will be disabled until you manually run autotune or add it to run nightly in your loop.

If you have SMB enabled, that would be active instead of a hi-temp, right? Look at the logs, is SMB running when you go high?
PieterGit
@PieterGit
Jun 11 2017 21:23
@peterfulvi : currently SMB is configured to only run if you have run autotune once (manual or with cron)
some of the SMB problems were related to bad isf/basals

@applehat I get the same mmeowlink commsException (a few times this weekend). I've reflashed the radio each time but just unplugging the battery and replugging (sometimes more than once) seems to clear it for a while. I'm thinking it's an issue specific to this explorer board as many others don't have the issue. Waiting on the new explorer board to come in and will try that

@ericmtx @applehat i think the current best way for a mmeowlink commsException is to /etc/init.d/cron stop ; killall -g openaps ; killlall -g oref0-pump-loop ; openaps mmtune
and off course /etc/init.d/cron start once the mmtune ran fine
ericmtx

Jun 11 2017 21:49
@PieterGit thanks I'll give that a try when it happens again
seems like the last time I tried that and the port was in use - like a previous mmtune or radio transmission had locked it

Jun 11 2017 22:09
@mccgm - this suggests your internet connection from the Edison is not working
as a baseline test, try ping 8.8.8.8
if that works, your connection likely works
if not, you kind of have to start with figuring out why your Edison’s network connection is down
Jason Curry

If I'm SSHing into my Edison, on this network, that would mean it has an internet connection
Martin Haeberli
@mhaeberli
Jun 11 2017 22:15
good logic - other problem could be DNS configuration
so try pinging www.apple.com for example
there are some troubleshooting tips on setting the Edison DNS
i’m sorry - I had assumed the other possibility - that of a direct USB / UART serial connection from a computer

try also ping github.com
as have I, and also seen the failure you describe. in my case, when wired to the rig and internet not working on the rig proper
but i have also seen (rarely) name lookups to github.com, for example, fail (which they shouldn’t) - and IF that fails, it won’t be able to get updated oref0

Andriodaps leads to playstore

Does the openAPS get the bolus information ? And adds it to the NS server ?
Does it show on the IOB?

A couple of days ago the bg entries vanished from my nightscout screen, although the loop is working fine. Short time later the pillboxes vanished, too. Mongo threw 'quota exceeded', so I cleaned the database. Nothing changed. NS admin tools show quite a number of treatments marked as 'in the future', although their timestamp is in the past!
