@tepidjuice the files are updated when I view them ... the http service needs to be restarted when it hangs

Apologies for the newbie question. I bought an Edison and explorer board that was supposed to have Jubilinux pre-installed, but when it starts up it says Ubilinux. Before I go onto my next question I am assuming this is not the same thing as Jubilinux.

@scottleibrand Just wanted to follow up from a couple of days ago, you were helping me figure why my SMBs weren't working. Your suggestions helped-I'd forgotten to amend my json pref to change the SMB variables to "true." Receiving cute little SMBs in response to pizza 2 hrs ago right now :) Thanks!

@thanksegon I'm 99.9% sure that is the same thing. I didn't get a pre-flashed one myself, but I've seen that question before and people have been reassured that it is the same.
So, I would move on with the set up

Hi there
I'm from Brazil, and I am trying to build a Nightscout setup for my Medtronic Veo GCM. I would like to try APS but my pump isn't compatible. What I would like to know if anyone knows a way to use nightscout with a computer and the carelink usb instead of having to build an Intel Edison Rig
Cameron Chunn
@applehat
Jun 26 2017 03:56
If you plug the carelink USB to a Linux machine (like a Pi) you can use the carelink with OpenAPS.
Even if your pump doesn't loop, it will still upload to NS.
I did this for a month or two before getting my loopable pump.

@bdr1177 - pack that pump in desiccant (rice if you have to, but imho desiccant is better), seal the ziplock bag and wait for a few days (my husband insisted on 5 days wait.) Our 10yo took his pump for a swim too. When it first came out of the pool, the display had moisture evidence. Pump recovered. We did get the battery and insulin reservoir out of it immediately when he realized and it was only 'swimming' about 4 or 5 minutes... we even stuck a small bag of desiccant in the battery compartment and carefully one in the reservoir compartment. Had a half a dozen little bags of desiccant kicking around and then ordered more on Amazon using prime - came in less than 24hrs. We now keep desiccant around 'just in case' though the boy is very anxious about being around water with his rig after the accidental dip... good luck! Otherwise we've bought on Medwow...
boo on the pump swimming
we also have a new rule - no hooking your pump to your bathing suit - must wear rig belt instead.... otherwise, easy to forget...

try doing an oref0-runagain

ctrl C

Cameron Chunn
@applehat

im not sure which your currently using
so type this: crontab -l
and give me the results of that
DaisyHK
@laurathiessen
Jun 26 2017 05:08
well I tried today to set up the first steps for blue tooth tethering so I renamed that set up myopenapsBT my original was myopenAPS
was that the wrong thing to do?
here is the result

ok, cool. Then run this command:

crontab -1 what is that command mean?
Permission denied
Cameron Chunn
@applehat
Jun 26 2017 05:13
crontab is the system that runs commands on a schedule inside linux (and what in return, runs openaps commands). The -l is a flag that means "list current crontab config"

Cameron Chunn
@applehat
Jun 26 2017 05:25
We essentially just deleted everything and started over with the same settings - that way if the error was caused buy some erroneous data at some point, it can now pull all fresh data and not have to worry about potential bad data.
Also, if you're on the dev branch of oref0, it updates it to the latest.

Cameron Chunn

Jun 26 2017 05:35
if you run cat ~/myopenapsBT/oref0-runagain.sh what do you get? Make sure you copy and paste the output and remove the "api-secret" part before sending it in channel
cd ~/myopenaps && chmod +x ./oref0-runagain.sh && ./oref0-runagain.sh <-- that will return you back to your original myopenaps

I was asked to provide a current case where I believe openaps doesn't do its job for analysis of the community. This is it: I'd expect openaps to increase the basal above programmed 7 u/h like it does at night where I have 3 u/h (I need a vast amiunt of insulin - ~100 u/24 h). My maxiob is set to 15, autosense and autotune enabled.

Hi all. Today the cables for my 1200mah lipo broke. I've looked at getting a replacement (https://www.adafruit.com/product/2011 going with the 2000mah so I spend less time plugged in) from adafruit but that cost $44 USD for shipping. Does anyone in Australia have one spare that I can buy or know where I can get one?
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Jun 26 2017 08:20
@Mackwe not sure anyone's done that; but if so, do know it's not currently in the docs. Most people using G4 are plugging in the receiver to the rig; or using xdripaps with an android phone
Marcus Lindfors

@danamlewis I see. I must admit my memory isn't really the best, but I think I saw an feasible solution somewhere to make that work. Trying to minimize the size and no of gadgets to carry around.. And would want the loop running without Internet connectivity or a phone. To me it would be best using a USB or BT Wixel directly into the rig (a lot more portable than the G4 reciever), but if that's whats really needed...

@stefanakerblom hard to tell without a full view, but it looks like when BG was 145 it was dropping, so the rig set a neutral temp of 6.2U/hr. then, 8m later when BG ticked up to 150, it tried to set a high temp of 13.1U/hr, but failed to do so for some reason
have you updated your decocare to allow temp basals > 6.3U/hr?

If openaps has set a temp basal a above u/h basal and after that event the CGM was not updated for a while ..... does it cancel the temp basal ?
Martin Haeberli
@mhaeberli
Jun 26 2017 11:14
I think the answer is "no"; just the temp basal will expire.
So, for example, at 1:12 am, it sets 2.5 u/hr for 30 minutes. At 1:22 am CGM data drops. OpenAPS will stop controlling pump but temp basal will expire at 1:42 am. Then pump will run default basals until CGM data is back.
Here, G5 went from 112 to 42 in maybe half an hour. We tried to calibrate from iPhone to measured 122 but it wasn't near t1d at the time. Now showing an error "wait three hours", and no live data. Suggestions?

@scottleibrand
Jun 26 2017 12:07
@stefanakerblom while it originally was short for "decoding carelink", decocare is now mostly used by the Explorer board via mmeowlink, as the same data layer protocol is used for direct communication with the pump as was used to talk to it over USB with the carelink stick.

Jun 26 2017 12:09
@stefanakerblom there was a bug in decocare that didn't use enough bits to represent the basal rate, so as a result it couldn't set temporary basals higher than 6.4U/hr. the latest release of decocare has been updated to fix that, but I believe there was an error with the pypi package that prevents the updated version from being installed automatically. I believe @moomoobloo posted instructions for doing so with easy_install instead of pip, but I don't have them handy
there is also a github issue that has more details that might be useful.
stefanakerblom
@stefanakerblom
Jun 26 2017 12:11
@scottleibrand So probably they only used 3 bits which gives you 0 to 7. Will post a pm to @moomoblo
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Jun 26 2017 12:14
I think they had a full byte, which divided by 40 strokes per unit gives a range of basal rates from 0 to 6.375U/hr. But Medtronic had hidden another bit in another byte to allow them to represent basals higher than that.
stefanakerblom

Jun 26 2017 13:12
@stefanakerblom you could also try forcing it to set a high temp, by setting a low temp target and/or entering carbs. Just be sure to counteract it so you don't go low.
(After you get on 0.0.32 probably)
stefanakerblom
@stefanakerblom
Jun 26 2017 13:18
@scottleibrand Will try after 0.0.32. But I'd prefer the effortless way when openaps takes care of the temps as it does during nighttime. It is in IMHO not quite right to cheat openaps. BTW I dont think it works to cheat it because it will in no case set more than 6.375, would it? Hoping that the fellow angels have found the "magic bit" in 0.0.32. Currently I am monitoring 0.0.30.
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand

I was just suggesting a method of testing whether > 6.375 works. After that, it should be able to do the right thing like overnight, once you normalize everything.

@libxmike try looking locally for hobby robotics suppliers. It seems in Canada that they're the best bet for getting lipos like this locally.
did I see a tweet somewhere recently where a rig with a screen for less than $100 is being considered/built?
Mike
@libxmike
Jun 26 2017 14:51
@cameronrenwick not tweet I posted somewhere here in one chat but did not estimate the cost, do you mean this one?
Screenshot 2017-06-19 17.46.02.png
this is one version, if I find time have to build it based on Edison, 128x64 and 128x32 OLED, mini breakout board and Ti USB over serial as Explorer Board hat no GPIO pins, I have the parts but time is one issue.

Jun 26 2017 15:04
@cameronrenwick I did tweet that I had priced out of RPi Zero W stuff, and thought I could get a rig with a screen going for sub-$100
That figure does rely on me taking @ecc1's work on the RFM69 modules and integrating them into mmeowlink (or just making sure that all works). Those radio modules are $10.
Mike
@libxmike
Jun 26 2017 15:05
the one in my picture IS with Pi Zero W, but Pi Zero is too slow with current openaps code
@applehat yeah, I did last year Pi Zero with RFM69HCW with help from ecc1 , I got quit few of this RF modules, same with Zeto W
Cameron Chunn
@applehat
Jun 26 2017 15:08
What specific part of the loop is too slow on the Pi Zero Ws?
I could see autotune not running great on them.
If its an issue of process stacking and stuff, we could investigate implementing a worker queue approach to replace crontab.
Mike
@libxmike
Jun 26 2017 15:16
with ecc1 Go code could/was faster, yes if I'm not mistaken autotune was slow, one loop was, I think 3-4-5 min, there are old post here from last year with my Pi Zero pump loop log
Zero W and RFM69HCW is the cheapest solution to loop an Edison be gone problem
Mike
@libxmike
Jun 26 2017 15:23
Zero W $10 and RFM69HCW $5 compared to over $100 for other solutions
the radio range with RFM69HCW and simple wire antenna is better that with Explorer Board, but RPi with Ti USB has better range
Eric
@ecc1
Jun 26 2017 15:25
The Pi Zero W has only 512M of RAM; pretty sure openaps' Python + Node causes it to swap (to SD card) which is the kiss of death
Mike
@libxmike
Jun 26 2017 15:26
exactly, Python was the killer
Cameron Chunn
@applehat
Jun 26 2017 15:29
Edisons have 1G, right?
I'd be quicker to blame Node for memory usage then Python. Javascript isn't know for great garbage collection =P
Mike
@libxmike
Jun 26 2017 15:30
yes, and faster CPU
maybe combination of both, Python and js
Cameron Chunn
@applehat
Jun 26 2017 15:33
The edisons have eMMC as well, so if they swap its faster then SD.
^ thats something "fixable" on a Pi Zero, but we can't really get around ram and processor specs.
512mb seems to be the standard for all the tiny / battery efficient boards.

Do you have a worker queue already installed as part of any other process within openaps? Seems like could help lighted the load - literally
