ncdu, an excellent command-line disk usage analyzerand it found my space issue easily and within seconds. cron mail was taking up all my free space. You can install and run ncdu as follows:
apt-get install ncdu && ncdu
/etc/logrotate.conftoo, to make sure you're only keeping around a modest amount
