hi all. running openaps with edison rig and medtronic 722. we like to run autotune as a one off and look at 3 days to a week at a time then make tweaks based on the findings. is there any risk of clogging up the rig (running into storage issues) by looking at data in this manner?
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Jul 01 2017 00:08
nope, the amount of data used by autotune is tiny compared to the storage on the rig. only concern is how long it takes to run if you try to do more than about a week at a time.
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Jul 01 2017 00:08
Nope. Might be slow to run on rig

@danamlewis @scottleibrand - is there a way to run autosens as a one off like autotune?
or does that defeat the purpose?
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Jul 01 2017 00:13
not possible to run autosens as a one off - it just does rolling 24h of data. and remember, it only does isf/basals/targets (if enabled), whereas autotune will do the underlying ISF, basal, and carb ratio
there’ve been some suggestions in channel in past few days about logging - or alerting- on autosens results, though, which may be something of interest
wharper11
@wharper11
Jul 01 2017 00:21
@danamlewis - could we enable autosens but disable changes just to see recommendations?
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Jul 01 2017 00:21
to do that, you’d want to change the autosens min and max multipliers to 1
however, that’d also limit your autotune from making changes
wharper11
@wharper11
Jul 01 2017 00:21
we have them both off for now.
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Jul 01 2017 00:22
k. then yes, you could enable and set the multipliers to 1.0 in preferences & be able to see what it recommends
wharper11
@wharper11
Jul 01 2017 00:22
so max and min to 1.0? both?
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Jul 01 2017 00:23
yup
and then if/when you want to allow it to make changes, you can set back to the defaults or work your way there on either side
wharper11
@wharper11
Jul 01 2017 00:24
for now, if we want to see the changes (suggestions) let it run for 24 hours and how do you access the data?
not finding autosens report
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Jul 01 2017 00:26
tail -n 100 -F /var/log/openaps/autosens-loop.log

(Pro tip: If you’re looking for something and can’t figure out where it is, this short cut list is a good place to check for some of the common commands if you can’t quite remember what something is called or where it lives: http://openaps.readthedocs.io/en/latest/docs/walkthrough/phase-1/add-alias.html)
useful even if you don’t add the shortcuts, but remembering this page exists is helpful for digging up individual commands like autosens

keep in mind that if you hard-code the autosens min and max to 1, you won't see it doing anything (because it can't). the detailed autosens logs have some details of what % of non-meal deviations were negative, which will give you some idea of what it wanted to do, but it won't be the end-result ISF calculation

Evening folks, just curious was a version 2.0 released in the last week?
I ran the automated install script last weekend and the final output was "openaps 0.1.5 " I ran it again tonight and im now seeing "openaps 0.2.0-dev"
But I never specifically did anything to pull from dev branch
Scott Leibrand

hmmm, well strange I guess... 0.1.5 everything seemed to work and last weekend was a dry run at the install. Tonight for launch day, 0.2.0 and now no comms. "out or other comms" This is the only diff in what I ran from last weekend to this weekend.

Back again, seems like there is almost no range on this as its disconnected again and I'm seeing -99 in logs. Have you heard of anything specific for for the RF frequency for us folks in Canada?
I currently have the rig and pump next to each other

DaisyHK
@laurathiessen
Jul 01 2017 03:14
yes. this is for android
sorry nevermind.... i think i figured it out.. just to clarify one needs to have the app of btautotethering in order to ensure the android phone does not disconnect itself?
@TwoFifteen thanks ... think that was the issue with the app... i got confused as to why i need the app but I am betting this is why.
DaisyHK
@laurathiessen
Jul 01 2017 03:32
ok.... so I understand that the BT tehering app will keep it connected, but if it looses power or whatever and disconnects the only way I can see is to input the command for BT... is there a way to make it automatically connect? is there a command that works? we added the command for BT to rc/local but this did not work
cause the app does not seem to keep it active on my android ASUS zenfone 3
Cameron Chunn
@applehat
Jul 01 2017 04:13
oref0-online (the script that runs to attempt to get you online) will check for wifi, and if it fails, it will run the command to connect to bluetooth automatically.
What the android app does, is make sure that bluetooth teathering is switched on for you, when a specific bluetooth device (your rig in the case) connects

@TwoFifteen The NA or WW can be found on the back of the pump near the line above the serial number. It will look like REF MMT - 522NAS The NA or WW is buried in that line. Basically it is giving you the pump model, the region, and the color (in this example S=smoke)

Have you cut your trace for 916MHz? If your range is that bad, it might actually have some effect.
TwoFifteen
@TwoFifteen
Jul 01 2017 04:40
even a couple inches away getting -99
I didn't cut it
916 is just for range or is for compatible frequency?
Cameron Chunn
@applehat
Jul 01 2017 04:41
Without going too deep into RF theory, you need a specific length antenna to resonate on a specific frequency
If you cut the trace at the 916MHz mark, it will resonate better
Most people, in real world testing, dont really see much difference
but if your range is that bad, resonating on the exact right length wouldn't hurt.
Is your rig in any sort of case?
But I did take it out of the case, didn't notice much
Cameron Chunn
@applehat
Jul 01 2017 04:43
Plastic shouldn't really effect RF much - I just wanted to make sure you didn't have it in anything metal =P
I've always been curious if people with range issues would see a difference by getting a antenna and plugging it into the uFL connector on the board.

so it hanldes decimal
Cameron Chunn

At that range I would expect -50s. -70s is pretty reasonable for looping. -80s is iffy, and -90s rarely works.

i'm using dev but no smb enabled, is it supposed to limit basal with "> 2 * insulinReq"?
Scott Leibrand

That is unrelated to SMB. It just means your high temp was too high/long.
The extra insulin you'd get from running 1.3U/hr for 30m is more than twice as much as you need.

A quick one. Has anyone successfully flashed back to Yocto via an EXB? I've a rig that I've flashed Jubilinux onto a few times and it's displayed logging issues the last two so I was going to take it back to Yocto and start again, but the intel tools don't seem to recognise the Edison via the explorer.

I often see my loop work even when mmtune comes back with -99 ... in this case mmtune selects the default frequency and that works. So, I guess -99 is not always a 100% indicator of inability for the radio to communicate with the pump. I wonder why mmtune gets in this state? It's happening right now this morning so a reboot likely clears it up, but why reboot when things are working :smile:
katie disimone
@Kdisimone
Jul 01 2017 13:51
@ericfeibelman not to be a naysayer, but I don't want to leave others with the impression that -99 is loopable tuning result. So, if you can pull some logs and show/explain situations where it has worked, then we could PR that in to explain the situation better...but I don't want to mislead folks that -99 is a looping tune.

Feature idea... SMB could supplement a manual bolus if autosens showed that it was needed. So if autosens was at 1.2, and user does a manual bolus of 10.0, then SMB should give another 2.0 units of that option were set to true.
Scott Leibrand
@scottleibrand
Jul 01 2017 14:48
I wouldn't want it to blindly supplement like that. Instead, it will read the 10U, predict BGs from that plus entered carbs, and if minPredBG is above target, will SMB further. If not, then it's safer to wait and SMB later.
Scott Leibrand

@scottleibrand And that is what it did here. I ate two Egg McMuffins, and took what should have been a perfect bolus. It ended up having to SMB.
If I had the pill indicator as red, so that I knew the site was bad, and moreover if I could see the ratio in NS, then I could just do the extra bolus myself and be happy with that.

@scottleibrand I did an experiment where I programmed my pump to cut my basal from 4am to 5am with FIAsp. Here is the result.
557 peak. So 4am to that is 1hr27min-87minutes.jpg
The peak of my rise was at 5:57am. So, subtract 30 minutes from that, and that means 87 minutes response time for me with FIAsp.
If anyone else wants to try that with Humalog, Novolog, and FIAsp, we can learn more about search windows needed for Autotune.

@Kdisimone - Here's a very recent example in my logs where mmtune was -99 and the very next loop worked fine. Question on the modified loop app for offline monitoring... I know bolusing for loop is done through the app, do we know if anyone here has used the modified loop app for openaps to also do the bolusing?

No. Edison holds everything so you can swap to another board, power it up, and it should be good to go
@twofifteen you'd need a rileylink to be able to do the phone bolus portion for now. (Stay tuned, this will be one of the things we are working on with the OpenAPS app for iPhone and android so you can enter and command from the phone if you prefer, and brains will still live autonomously on the rig for those who prefer that)

Two options w a receiver: 1) plug it in to board or 2) have the developer work on getting openxshareble usable again (reads ble from receiver to a rig; however receiver can only talk to one thing so it can't talk to Dexcom share on a phone and the rig)

Dana/Scott - thanks for the help yesterday, autotune now matches much more closely between the 2 rigs. i copied autotune/profile.json, autotune/profile.pump.json, settings/autotune.json, and settings/pumpprofile.json (the latter because i had turned the loop off on it for a while since autotune wasn't matching).
i think it was mainly settings/autotune.json that mismatched - and this was the result of a few more months of data on that rig. does the fact that they weren't converging mean there isn't really just one good autotuned rate/ratio configuration for a given person?

Whats everyones experience on RF range? Generally an issue on the explorer board or pump side? I've cut the antenna at the 915 mark but unless the rig is within inches of the pump, no data.

I have: reseated the Edison on the explorer board, reflashed it with jubilinux out of frustration, set up 0ref0 again, and have tried to be patient for a little over 30 minutes to see if it would work. There is no glucose.json file. I'm using the same heroku site for NS that I used in the RPi/Carelink rig. Does anybody know where I went wrong or how I can fix it?
