Just had about an hour of unsuccessful loops due to no pump comms detected after several reboot s it started to work again. Any troubleshooting tips?

@scottleibrand
Jul 08 2017 00:54 UTC
That message is not your problem
That just means you don't have any other rigs talking to the pump.
It should always show up.
Changing that message to something like "No conflicting rigs detected" would probably spook a lot fewer people.

There's a message improvement in mmeowlink

It was nice when those projects had active maintainers.
Maybe mmeowlink still is, not sure.
Maybe we just need to have oref0-setup upgrade it

Hi! Just noticed an issue... Our pump is set to mmol/L and the NS treatment report is showing the BG as 135 instead of 13.5
I'm trying to investigate why our bolus aren't showing up on the NS graph
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Jul 08 2017 02:07 UTC
@SebastienLussier are they close together boluses; or are all boluses not showing up?

Jul 08 2017 03:19 UTC
I'm not sure if it's cosmetic or not. Don't use mmol ourselves, so this stuff relies on mmol users to properly track and fix.
Might be worth having linked issues in oref0, openaps, and decocare repos linking the end user impacts in oref0 down through the openaps commands and output to the decoding aspects of decocare.
Sebastien Lussier
@SebastienLussier

I finally got my edison, explorer, etc and have been trying to get familiar with the gear but, am already stuck trying to get my wifi setup. I followed all the steps in windows setup (section 1-4) and when I test my connection I get nothing. I'm also seeing 2 errors during the edison reboot and am guessing they are related. Marcus Lindfors
@Mackwe
Jul 08 2017 04:21 UTC
@tepidjuice Nope. 0.0.0.0 means "I am available for connection from anyone" and the "127.0.0.1" is "I am avalable for connecton from myself (the rig). If it shows, you know (for real) they tried to exchange data and your setup params are cool. If you still get errors I'd say it's the xDrip setup on the Edison and I can't unfortunately help much there since I haven't dived ito that yet. I'd re-install..

Thinking about OpenAPS parameters. Duration of insulin activity defaults to 3 hours. How long should we assume it takes to absorb carbs? Obviously does depend on fast vs slow acting. But on average? What does oref0 assume?
Marcus Lindfors
@Mackwe
Jul 08 2017 05:28 UTC
Isn't that what CAR is for? Carb Absorption Rate.
Defaults to 18g/hour I think.
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Jul 08 2017 05:30 UTC
Carb absorption rate varies person to person. OpenAPS has dynamic carb absorption based on what's happening compared to what's predicted. But will decay at a minimum avg rate.
Also, dia doesn't default. Dia comes from whatever you have programmed in your pump
Marcus Lindfors
@Mackwe
Jul 08 2017 05:32 UTC
@danamlewis Oh I was hoping there would be a way to tell oref0 "I just had 12 g of really fast carbs" or really slow. But if it's dynamic, it would be needed then..?
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Jul 08 2017 05:32 UTC
You tell it "I had 12g of carbs". Your knowledge of how the carbs behave may drive how you bolus (or not) for them
@mhaeberli wonder if you have a situation in mind behind your original questions?
Marcus Lindfors
@Mackwe
Jul 08 2017 05:33 UTC
@mhaeberli Like @danamlewis said. DOn't make the same mistake as me thinking oref0 would use what I told it to. It will follow the pump and whataver you change it to in oref0 will be overwritten the next time it reads the pump settings..
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Jul 08 2017 05:34 UTC
@Mackwe did you try to change it to a decimal, or ?
Marcus Lindfors
@Mackwe
Jul 08 2017 05:34 UTC
@danamlewis Well, yes now that you mention it..
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Jul 08 2017 05:34 UTC
You could update it in the code but then you'd have to change the aliases to not pull those files and overwrite. Not best practice, and not documented, but possible
If you do that ^, I'd keep an eye on things and test carefully as we've not done any testing with decimal dia. And please report back how it goes if you do it so we start to get data.
Marcus Lindfors
@Mackwe
Jul 08 2017 05:35 UTC

Martin Haeberli
@mhaeberli
Jul 08 2017 05:40 UTC
Situation relates to pre bedtime targets. Having eaten and blouses in last 2 hours. So OpenAPS still showing active carbs. Slight high temp with current maybe 97, target 120, prediction minimum in an hour at maybe 78, coming back up to 120+ at two hours in future. Always a bit anxious about high temping this late at night . So we could low temp thru NS, or high temp BG target thru NS, but trying to think about how to tune around situation in future
Bolused not blouses
Marcus Lindfors
@Mackwe
Jul 08 2017 05:43 UTC
@mhaeberli This time of day is really hard to "fix" (especially if T1 younger I think) due to spike just after going to sleep.. Then a high temp just before going to sleep is exactly what you want.
Martin Haeberli
@mhaeberli
Jul 08 2017 05:54 UTC
Thx. She's 18. It may be that her carb ratios are wrong and / or the carb estimates are higher than actual. Flatline at 120. Then carbs and bolus. BG rises steadily to say 180 over 30 minutes then just as steadily drops... over 30 minutes to 120 then at same slope to 85...
Ok - slope down is more gradual than slope up... but you get the idea

Marcus Lindfors
@Mackwe
Jul 08 2017 06:41 UTC

@franckvalli : about https://gitter.im/nightscout/intend-to-bolus?at=596014d34bcd78af568a0374 . The radio_type is either US or WW depending on the pump you have. It's not in the serial number, but in the product reference (REF), e.g. MMT-522NAL in picture above, so you nee radio_type=US because it's a North American (NA) pump.

@scottleibrand - In Queen's English to revert is to roll back to a previous state. So as per American English. Yes I find is strange when somebody tells me they will revert back to mean respond or reply.

Morning @danamlewis and everyone else! I am just getting familiar with my new Edison, explorer, etc. My apologies in advance as I have zero experience with this kind of stuff (coding). I ordered my Edison pre flashed to make things easier. I ran the setup script from here - http://openaps.readthedocs.io/en/dev/docs/Build%20Your%20Rig/OpenAPS-install.html yesterday. It seemed to run through the script fine but, didn't appear to identify my network. After that I rebooted, logged back in as root, entered "iwgetid -r" but, didn't see any sign of my router/network. @danamlewis - I forgot to mention that after I rebooted, I got the following errors/failures when it was starting back up - [FAILED] Failed to start Load Kernel Modules.
See 'systemctl status systemd-modules-load.service' for details. And - [FAILED] Failed to start Hostname Service.
See 'systemctl status systemd-hostnamed.service' for details.

Those aren’t abnormal. jubilinux doesn’t use those services so there they don’t start/load

I also entered "ifconfig wlan0" and got the following string which doesn;t make a lot of sense to me - wlan0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 90:b6:86:08:4d:6f
UP BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1

You need to still do some work to set up your rig before you jump to the loop installation. If you’re on a mac, start at Step 1-8 here http://openaps.readthedocs.io/en/latest/docs/walkthrough/phase-0/edison-explorer-board-Mac.html#wifi-for-edison If you’re on a Windows, start here http://openaps.readthedocs.io/en/latest/docs/walkthrough/phase-0/windows-edison.html#hostname-for-edison

@Kdisimone they're following http://openaps.readthedocs.io/en/dev/docs/Build%20Your%20Rig/OpenAPS-install.html which should do all that automatically.
@902Lund I updated those directions recently to include "try it again if it fails" instructions: I would try that first.
If it still isn't finding your wifi we might need to look at the output to see why.
@bdr1177 we would need to see full context, especially the reason field, from the OpenAPS pill or the pump-loop.log

Hi. First, thanks to everyone who is contributing here. I am amazed and humbled at the impressive set of work this community is doing. THANKS. I have setup a new rig and it seems to be working 99.9%, with 1 really small, but super important exception:
My pump is communicating with the rig, I see all of the data on Nightscout and I see a model number when I "openaps use pump model" (it is a 551), but I'm not getting any temp basals on my pump. I'm hoping I'm missing something simple?

I don't think there's anything special about it...I'm in Canada with basic high speed internet using the speedstream wireless router that my ISP (Bell) provided. I just reran the script with my phones hotspot on and still no luck. Here is what it shows before asking me to enter my network/password info -
Scanning for wifi networks:
wpa_supplicant: /sbin/wpa_supplicant daemon failed to start
run-parts: /etc/network/if-pre-up.d/wpasupplicant exited with return code 1

@rodzilla55 check that your pump is in U/hr temp basal mode, not percent. If it's not that, paste your pump-loop.log here for us to take a look.
@902Lund looks like your wifi config is too messed up to even scan for networks. You'll need to edit wpa_supplicant.conf manually to delete out anything you've added that might have a syntax error, and check your /etc/network/interfaces for errors.
If the problematic contents look like they were added by the script instead of manually, please paste them here.
Or you might be able to re-run the script and just enter the name and password anyway, and it might be able to overwrite the problem.

@scottleibrand I think I may have just made things worse trying to fix this...I used a wpa_supplicant debug command I found on some other forum and now my Edison is showing up as root@localhost instead of the name I gave it earlier. Just a notice for any RPi Zero + Zero4U Hub: the hub get's disconnected every time there's some network interaction due interference between the wifi on board and the two pin connectors of the hub. The producer of the hub gives away for free ( + shipping costs, almost 5$) a ferrite ring helping this problem. http://www.uugear.com/product/ferrite-ring-for-zero4u-to-support-rpi-zero-w/
anyway, you need a ferrite ring if you have a RPi Zero W + Zero4U USB hub. Just my 2 cents.

That's asking for a pretty big increase in CR and resulting decrease in CSF. Making that change would help.

K thx I'll mention it to her
I've only been keeping half an eye on autotune, but does it assume a single carb ratio, as opposed to a schedule?

Yes. If you have multiple, uses midnight/first in the profile. If you want to play with, run manually with different ratios, or avg, etc. same for isf.

@danalewis - so I'm unclear - her Bolus Wizard preferences as i recall have different CRs for different times of day. So how to apply adjustment from 5 -> 6.3 or so?

You'll have to decide if you want to shift all of them, or just the 5 one. Depends on how confident you are in needing varying ratios, too (vs them perhaps being a byproduct of overcompensating for pre-looping settings).
But since you're seeing patterns in the data like you showed above, whatever meal/time that was is certainly one I would consider adjusting if it was me

K thx; I guess we could just bump up the 'dinner' ratio which is the applicable one.

@mhaeberli which version of NightScout do you use? With the version 0.9.2 I had the same problem with carbs. AndroidAPS thought there were a lot of carbs on board and gave me a lot of insulin. After upgrading NightScout to version 0.10.0-dev-20170423 everything works fine.

Interesting fitness tracker - don't know if it's open enough
@winni67 hang on a minute
I'm running the 0.10.0-dev-20170423 as well
Thx

Did anyone here have problems installing Intel Edison drivers when they connected to a PC for the first time? Specifically the RNDIS and CDC serial drivers. I've tried downloading the drivers from the Intel site on 2 different machines now and both machines have failed to install these drivers. I'm guessing this is the cause of the other issues I've been dealing with trying to get my rig setup. I can see the Edison through putty but, the wifi setup fails...I'm now trying to start from scratch by re-flashing the Edison but, can't even get the drivers downloaded. I have a ticket open with Intel but thought I would check here just in case.
