hi everyone!
we've just switched back to dexcom with receiver (g4)
I'm running the oref0 setup script again, what value should I use to pull data from Nightscout when asked what kind of CGM am I using?

not sure why, but these cc1110 chips seem to lose their mind for no reason sometimes. a ccprog reflash usually fixes it
might be worth trying that a couple more times, and see if you can get the red lights to go out with an openaps mmtune

Hi everybody, i'm getting a weird problem with a new rig that's almost looping and would appreciate some help. Here's my setup:
Edison/explorer rig, flashed on a Mac, G5 cgm running thru a Nightscout/heroku page, Minimed 523 v2.4
Everything is almost working, i'm able to communicate with the pump, and push those settings
to NS, as well as set temp basals.
the problem seems to be consistently importing CGM data from NS. seems like it gets stuck on one old reading and can't pull the current one, even tho it show as current in NS. all my device times are set the same, in the same time zone.

@tim2000s please check if multiple pump loops or pump processes are running. There is a --ww_ti_usb_reset in the setup script (see openaps/oref0#456 ), but that is if the usb device is gone, which isn't the case with you. So I think it's some kind of hanging pump process

HI All - I have helped a friend setup with an Explorerboard /Dexcom G5/Medtronic pump. Everything seems to be working correctly, data is flowing into Nightscout and the rig is sending temps to the pump. We're wondering what to do next in terms of personalising the setup for him. He did have a full night where he ran at 17mmol/L - this seemed anomalously high. Perhaps we just haven't found the right part of the doc, lot's of options are described, but we're struggling to see a clear post setup tuning process.

Any known issues with Windows Vista? Got my hardware put together over the weekend (Pre-Flashed) and couldn't get the Edison to be recognized properly. Tried to get the Edison driver installed but it wouldn't work. So I could not get to the terminal commands. It shows up as : Other Devices - |_> FT230X BASIC UART. I'm thinking that the Edison driver isn't supported by Vista - or - Something is up with my board. {Using Dexcom USB-micro cables, reseating Edison on explorer several times}. Thoughts?

@mkericson The Edison driver didnt work as designed 4 me either. However the com port was there (have a look at those) and it worked. Mine became COM7. BTW it was not worth while to buy a preflashed one. I have reflashed mine several times (takes only 15 minutes) and it worked better than the preflashed. Would have saved me 40 bucks.

@stefanakerblom Thanks. It shows up as a device but doesn't list a COM port for it. I tried just plugging in a few ports to the PuTTy setup all the way through COM7. Perhaps I didn't go high enough. Does your Device Manager show you the actual COM port?

@cameronrenwick I'm gonna copy and paste from FB again but re: using sudo mode and getting locked out/needing to reboot to get back in:

Last thing about console/screen mode and not being able to get back in. (see, told you I learned stuff at Hackathon)

Do you ever leave a screen/console session in Terminal by just closing down terminal app or the terminal window...you are asked if you want to Terminate running processes (like screen shot)?

If you say yes to that prompt, you will not be able to start another screen session without restarting your computer. You will get some message about "resource busy" and then "Sorry could not find a PTY" I haven't found a way around that previously, BUT...

If you exit a screen session instead by using this combination:

control-a
d

(yes, press control-a and then the letter d key)

that will enable you to start the screen session again later (no restart needed) using:

sudo screen -r

So long as you end your screen session with that control-a and d, then you can close the terminal window and even close the terminal app without a problem. You'll be able to restart the screen session with sudo screen -r

@skaffen if someone is hanging high above target, it's useful to post the info from the pump loop or OpenAPS pill in NS so that we can see the loop's reasoning for its actions. But on new loops and hanging high....usually it's because you didn't set the max-iob to a number greater than 0 in the preferences.json. Check the docs about "going beyond low suspend"
Greg Eden
@skaffen
Jul 10 2017 15:44
@Kdisimone thanks for that, it confirms what we suspected. will trawl the logs for the relevant period and up max-iob (it is currently 0).

@cameronrenwick if shh is really giving fits, clearing your known_hosts will usually help a lot. I fiddle with rigs and test rigs a lot so my ssh can get kinda dirty with spoofing errors if I'm being lazy about hostnames overlapping or reusing edisons during my testing. In terminal (but not logged into rig, just at your regular computer user level):
cd .ssh
rm known_hosts

You'll have to answer yes to add the rig as a known host the next time you login via ssh, but it will be stored in the refreshed known_hosts. That's helped me quite a bit

@Kdisimone ... rig super hero... thanks so much for your suggestions. Depending upon my need to get into my rig (quick thing I usually ssh - longer I sudo and charge it at the same time) ... but it seems that when I ssh into a full battery it's quick and problem free. As the battery dies out, way less success. Dunno if others find that or maybe just coincidence but it does regularly happen. I didn't know about the contro-a and D so I'll for sure use that from now on. :thumbsup:

I've noticed a Config setting in my Nightscout setup on Heroku for "PAPERTRAIL_API_TOKEN". I don't remember setting that up (maybe I did). I have my openAPS related logs streaming to Papertrail, but I don't think Nightscout?? The token I see in my Papertrail Profile does not match the one in my Heroku config. @rodzilla55 heroku automatically gives you a tiny papertrail service (not a lot of data cap) that monitors your heroku account only. It's useless. You can delete the papertrail token from your heroku config vars and you'll be fine. That papertrail is unrelated to the one you setup for your rig.

Im not sure if anyone has done it, but from a technical standpoint, there is no reason you couldn't plug a USB 3G modem up to the USB-OTG port on the edison and run it that way.
Plenty of linux support for doing that from what I can tell
Alternative Plan could involve a Wifi Hotspot.

@danamlewis I think only a few things need to be added from my http-widget repo to the above....

@ceben80 @applehat @scottleibrand My idea was to plug something (really) small into the rig to make it accept text messages and/or direct SSH commands plus providing Internet access for the rig. A USB modem would be a feasible solution, I guess. But through the OTG port it would become a bit bulky.. But I guess that's the only way to go.

@Mackwe I'm working on it. Been playing with something that will provide a "lightweight" equivalent to Nightscout on rig. Don't have huge amounts of time.

@tim2000s Sounds good. Anything I can do to help? This would of course not solve my problem with Internet and/or text message access, but given that's solved.. I like the idea! =)

Something on the rig to enable an internet connection plus xdrip.js could be a game changer

@francesc0-cgm I have my rig attached to a WiFi Wixel reporting directly back to the rig on BT. That works.. But the T1 still needs an xDrip Android to read, apply calibrations and report back. Working on closing that loop. =) But it would be fantastic to be able to communicate with the rig while "roaming" and/or making the rig Internet capable without the phone. Especially since the T1 is 2,5 yo...

@danamlewis I thought this only worked on android?
Marcus Lindfors
@Mackwe
Jul 10 2017 22:14
@francesc0-cgm I did too, until it broke. So I added a "non-gsm" parakeet on the OTG port. Works just the same, but offline too. Pros: No GSM needed=Offline looping. Cons: The USB connector is HUGE compared to the rest of the rig. I do not have a decent housing for it. Might go back to parakeet...

And I keep seeing the reference to parakeet, but google only brings up stuff about birds... what is it?

the httm webpage to display rig data
I find that section of the docs very confusing

That can be displayed on iPhone.

PRs incredibly welcome

I typed up a doc with where I get lost, since I don't know what is the correct suggestion
I don't know either, but if you make a pull request, then someone who has knowledge of that section can be tagged and review your suggested edits and help clarify any remaining questions

Ya, a few weeks ago when I trying ot figure this out I had asked about PR's when all I know is where it is confusing, and it was suggested to ask on glitter, I started this and then got distracted

Q: How can I see if autosens is working? And if not, can I "add" it without re-installing the whole thing..?
Q: NS always shows the OpenAPS prediction for the next ~DIA hours. I'd like to limit that to ~DIA/2 hours due to small phone display. Is that easily done..?
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Jul 10 2017 22:32
@Mackwe to check if you have autosens turned on, cat your run-again and see if autosens is listed in the enable list.
to check and see what it’s doing, you can see it in the logs
if you don’t have it enabled, you can add it to your run-again and re-run that.
Marcus Lindfors
@Mackwe
Jul 10 2017 22:33
@danamlewis The thing is my run-again says to enable "auto-sens". Is that correct? Isn't it supposed to med "autosens"..=
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Jul 10 2017 22:33
yes, you likely typo'd
easy to fix, save that, and run it again
(remember to adjust your maxIOB after you runagain)
Marcus Lindfors
@Mackwe
Jul 10 2017 22:34
I'd think so. I'd love not to "run-again", since I've made some really nice touch-ups and I'm not quite sure it's documented... Yet!
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Jul 10 2017 22:35
what kind of touch-ups?
you’re not re-installing any code or re-pulling dev or master or anything, just re-configuring your setup.

@danamlewis Just fixing my pump carb ratios (754), a http server to display the last "enacted", a few fixes with the CGM setup.. And.. Well, you know.. =)
So that's gonna be left untouched..?

@danamlewis Tried and succeded. Autosens now visible in the pump-loop log and I just hade to re-do the 754 carb_ratio thing. Thanks! =)

@bdr1177 :+1: good job on asking again. Do you have papertrail? That’s an easy way: type the time in papertrail to get it there. Or, tail -n 100 -F /var/log/openaps/pump-loop.log and scroll back, depending on how far it is
@Mackwe :+1:

@bdr1177 What logs are you looking for? Check /var/logs/openaps on you rig. "cat" the one you need. :-)
