Hi All,
Steve Lund
@902Lund
Jul 22 2017 00:52
I recently received all of my hardware to setup my rig. I've been using Medtronic Enlite CGM for the past 2 months now (first time CGM'ing and have been using my non-Openaps compatible pump to ...the data is stored on Carelink but not on NS. It seems like I should have at least 3 days of cgm data stored in NS and in the pump that I'm planning to use with my rig before running Openaps. Does this sound right? Any suggestions from the experts here? I'm just really anxious to start looping but also want to make sure I start off on the right foot.

@scottleibrand - so don't enter BG into bolus wizard when looping w/openaps - so what is the recommended user interaction ?
Dana Lewis

Enter instead of bgs (leave it blank)
Otherwise it'll recommend correction and essentially double what OpenAPS is already doing

Good evening. One of my rigs is running linux kernel 3.10.98-poky-edison+ and the other is running 3.10.17-poky-edison+. Is there a compelling reason to upgrade 3.10.17 to 3.10.98?

So - if using link meter - it will transmit BG to pump. Then somehow decline the transmission; enter carbs; leave it alone from there... ?

I have a few Quick questions about G4-upload. In offline mode does it use raw data by default or only if algorithm data is not available? Can it use raw data in online mode? Any other differences between G4-upload vs G4-raw?

So I am updating 2 rigs as my iphone died and had to be replaced. Going through new set up. Passphrases? I read the docs I think 2 days after they were posted. I know how UAM and SMB work. Someone point me in the general direction? Can we go back to having to enable it? I knew how to do that :smile:

so I was on 0.5.1... rather than running full 0.5.2 setup, I ran: sed -i.bak "s^pumphistory = monitor/pumphistory-zoned.json^pumphistory = monitor/pumphistory-merged.json^g" ~/myopenaps/openaps.ini
diff -u ~/myopenaps/openaps.ini.bak ~/myopenaps/openaps.ini
Does that fully fix the issue, or should I be running the 0.5.2 setup?
@dirkgastaldo I am running 3.10.17 on my rig (March 23,2016) jubilinux 0.0.0; I've not had any problems in the 2 weeks I've been using it. Was told by another looper here that either should work fine. You can see versions here: http://www.jubilinux.org/dist/

@nexusnrg The prices they have posted are ludicrous. I've had good luck with offerup (not perfect, but good)
people posting pumps for sale, even if not the right model may own the right model and be willing to sale (for even cheaper)
if you talk with some about purchasing and later bring up the idea of paypal/shipping afer agreeing to meet, i think its pretty safe if you keep the price below ~150.

G4-upload in 0.5.x and G4-raw in 0.4.x are the same thing, just renamed.
@mhaeberli many people dose directly off the Dexcom without finger stick before each bolus, and do finger sticks only for CGM calibration.
@902Lund the main thing is making sure you're comfortable with how things work. You don't need a certain amount of data for the system to operate.

@scottleibrand thx … we are, for better or worse, in a kind of transition where finger sticks are still part of pre-meal or pre-correction habit. So then question is, what is a good ‘best practice’ for not confusing openaps
sounds like somehow just enter the carbs without a BG number. Not having a pump here with me, hard to visualize - I’ll discuss w/ our t1
Scott Leibrand

Jul 22 2017 04:02
We don't have a linked meter, but I know one trick is to use the option in preferences.json to only use your pump's minimum BG for target setting and ignore the high one, and then set the high one really high so the bolus wizard almost never has to correct.

A couple of very basic questions (I hope!) - (1) When we upgrade a rig to 0.5.2, can we keep the existing myopenaps directory and run setup again specifying myopenaps as the install directory, or do we need to delete the previous directory first? (2) Is 0.5.2 compatible with the Pi as well?

@stefanakerblom the IndexError: bytearray index out of range error is mostly due to invalid pump-rig communication. The loop should do a mmtune (~ 25%) of the times in the next loop and recover.
@live4sw one known issue is openaps/oref0#552 . It's an error message that you can ignore.
@scottleibrand can you add the help wanted tag on the issue, because I'm out of short term ideas, and I don't think I will start on rewriting the pump init (option 3 as mentioned in the issue) soon.

1) Check your mlab size and compact if needed (http://openaps.readthedocs.io/en/latest/docs/Troubleshooting/Rig-NS-communications-troubleshooting.html#mlab-maintenance), if that doesn't work 2) there's a potential fix in dev you can test

@scottleibrand @ecc1 @ps2 Thanks for the input, and shocked to see that the Linux Foundation is behind Zephyr, but it is not Linux. I was verbally told that it was an RTOS version of Linux (pretty much any OS can become an RTOS with the removal of all user interfaces, so I didn't really dig into it), now I will depreciate that source of information.
So, I processed this, and thought about your ideas of Rpi0W and CHIP Pro. Here is what I'm now considering after a day of sketching:
The "dev board" that I'm going to build for use here and elsewhere would consist of a CC1350 and CC1190 plus sensors and charger/power supply (PMIC).
The "AP board" would be the Rpi0W or the CHIP Pro (interested to hear the state of the debate there). The AP board plugs into the Dev board. I like the CHIP Pro, from a HW and purchasing perspective. Broadcomm doesn't play nice with vendors and they could kill that line of chips soon. GR8 seems like it will be around for a long time, and the attitude of the mgmt behind it is really positive.
The CC1350 would have the pump radio code that is used in the CC1110, the code used in the Wixel to talk to the G4 and BLE. For APS use, the G4 would wake and listen, and when it got a packet, send it to AP board. It could then turn on the pump radio when the loop needs to talk to the pump. BLE is available for G5 readings. I don't see the need for this BLE to pair with a phone or other things, as that could be done on the AP.
The AP would run the loop and do any "off system" BT/WiFi comms. It could also interface to a tiny display and 5-way joystick/enter key. Importantly, the loop and CGM (xdrip) could run entirely on the AP/Dev combo, with no need for any comms to a phone.
Lastly, the dev board will have a socket for a new LTE/3G/2G/GNSS module that is tiny and self-contained, including SIM. This means, if you plug in the module, it can communicate over the wireless network to NS or whatever you want, thus eliminating the need for a phone, entirely. I see this as important, as a phone is a weak link in the system, because of short battery life and they are easily broken by dropping, water, etc. So, for active lifestyles, getting rid of it is important.
Please pick apart the above and find any missing pieces or problems. I am under a deadline to do the dev board for other purposes (interfacing that LTE module, mainly), so I'd like to use this opportunity to have it serve as an APS platform. THANKS!
Oh, the "sensors" are for IoT uses. It will likely be a 10-axis with pre-trigger, but I'm still researching that, as the CC1350 has a dedicated ultra-low-power sensor uC. Also, might add other "axis" like temp or humidity. Still see what the market wants...

Hey, quick autotune question, how can I change the autotuned ISF, and should I go that route to correct a bad ISF or is there a way to reset autotune? I KNOW my isf is way off in aps, I keep going high, and aps isn't able to do anything about it.

@fjungman the cc1350 will not run existing cc1110 subg_rfspy code as is for several reasons, including compiler, CPU, and architecture differences. Also, not sure if they've release the OOK modulation settings for it yet

The G5 transmitter seems to store data. So it has a memory in it? Did the G4 do that?
fjungman
@fjungman
Jul 22 2017 19:16
@ps2 Yes, I figured it wasn't drop-in, since the processor changes from 8051 to ARM, but the radio operation and mod/demod is the tricky bit. For OOK, I found this on TI's website:
https://e2e.ti.com/support/wireless_connectivity/proprietary_sub_1_ghz_simpliciti/f/156/t/588579
Also, the CC2511 code porting to the CC1350 would be a little work, but again, the magic is in the mod/demod and algorithms, compiling and routing to pins is not the worst part. I am actually planning on getting some help on this end for the CC1350 work, as it ties into the LTE side. The part I'm most concerned with is the AP side, as this community is either supportive of it, or it is a dead-end.
But, yes, if there is a blocking issue on the CC1350, then this is a dead-end, also. So, @ps2, your opinion is very important here!

@sulkaharo the graphs on openaps/oref0#544 look very promising! I wonder whether it would be possible to create somekind of upload of cgm data from rig to a central site that would help see if changes in the oref0 algorithm (such as changing the IOB behaviour) would improve BG values en glucose variation.
did anybody think of some kind of (daily) uploading mechanism for stuff like (cgm data, rig versions in use, no sensitve information like pump numbers) to have some kind of "continuous integration" to see if changes of the algorithms improve BG's and glucose variability.

no - there’s my problem …!
but skipped over all the wifi setup stuff and just used the script at the end ...
so - where is the oref0 directory it complained about ?
i was trying to follow new docs

ok, maybe the one in /src/...
ok fixed that one - yes, the one in /src/
but also
/usr/local/bin/json -> /usr/local/lib/node_modules/json/lib/json.js

No
Btw - the bootstrap script (wifi plus setup) is ideally for brand new rigs. It's going to blow away known wifi files, so that plus having to manually delete first means you may want to just run oref0-setup.sh or your runagain if you want to update anything
Martin Haeberli
@mhaeberli
Jul 22 2017 20:45
thx - that’s why i skipped the blowing away part … and I was updating to new master … so runagain doubtful ...
i’ll probably copy the old autosens directory over from my saved previous non-generic openaps directory
Martin Haeberli
@mhaeberli
Jul 22 2017 20:54
so - I have updated, but haven’t seen loop re-start, even though I did a service cron start
eek! changing password for root ! ? why?
Dana Lewis
@danamlewis
Jul 22 2017 20:57
Because you ran the bootstrap script and it prompts (mostly new) users who haven't changed from the default password or otherwise haven't changed password recently

i created some autotune improvements (most important one support for token based authentication) in openaps/oref0#562 . If somebody wants to test or review, please do. Somehow GitHub Desktop changes the spaces of some of the files without me asking it. I'll reapply it to a fresh dev checkout tommorow.

@dirkgastaldo You ned to start and end with three single-backtick quotes
the three ticks must be at the beginning of a line

```
hmmm, when I type ctrl-enter it enters the three backticks
@dirkgastaldo on a pc, the keystrokes for a new line may be something different than control-enter
You are welcome to test using a PM to me as well if you want to test a bunch "offline" so to speak
Interestingly, on my PC I use shift-enter to get the new line after the three backticks, but so far have only found ctrl-enter will complete the copy/paste and enter the text here
So I saw all the discussion above about Fiasp/Canada/etc and it intrigued me as I am very much a post-meal bolus-er (which drives my endo nuts, and tends to result in not-as-flat-as-they-could-be CGM graphs) and the possibility of an insulin being effective much sooner got me excited so I started digging... I started at the "Covered Drugs" list on insurance, wasn't listed. Went to the FDA site, wasn't listed. Found some online publications/press releases indicating it's approved for use in Canada (though not for pumping), approved in EU (use+pumping), and has been re-submitted to the US FDA (following additional studies) for potential approval for pumping with an anticipated decision date in latter 2017. Does anyone have anything further on this that I should be aware of or follow to get updates?
I also saw in the discussion above that it was not considered a prescription item in CA (which is cool!), so does anyone know how that would work in the US as far as Customs/etc where insulin usually is a prescription item, and especially where it is just plain unavailable due to current FDA consideration (as opposed to being available, but obtained internationally)? Is it (legally) allowed to be shipped cross-border to a US destination, or will ICE agents be showing up at my house if I were lucky enough to find a contact in CA who would be willing to send some my way? Anyone have any idea/insight?
